I just did a few laps of Cape Ring with a modified Gallardo and it got me thinking... WHO designed this track???

For the most part, it's great, but TWICE (not just once, TWICE!) Per lap, my car went airborne, losing control upon landing.

Now, who would put jumps on a course made for this kind of car? These aren't dirt bikes or Four Wheelers...

Unless the "jumps" are made to severely slow us down so that we don't get airborne... What was the idea here???

PS: I did a search and found some general threads about Cape Ring, but not of this issue specifically.

Yea it definately gave me 1 hell of a surprise when i hit it full kick in a fully tuned Ford GT. They could have ironed it out a bit more so it's more of a track then the end of a aircraft carrier.

No idea if the real track is like that but figured its a spot to slow down to not go airborne.

I personally LOVE going off of the jump as fast as possible... keep the racing interesting... I've gotten some really good air in a few of my cars!👍👍

I actually wish it was easier than it is to get jumps like that in the course maker... used sparingly they are great fun!:)

The jump is fantastic - no one is forcing you to keep the throttle at 100% if you don't want to go airborne, so it's a choice.

My Speed 12 tries to launch into space. The nose raises up and then magically returns to earth just in time with the back wheels.

I kinda like the the jump. I just don't care for the sterility of the track. It's too neat and too perfect.

The jump is the only part of the track that adds some spice. The rest of the track is just clinical and technical with no soul.

That's not the only problem. It's as if the designer made the track, then decided it was too small and traced an outline outside of it.

Yeah I had that thought but then realized, in reality, I don't HAVE to race on that track, nearly every other course is realistic and has plenty of simulation to offer. Why not just have hollywood fun once and a while? I also love passing and making up time on the circle in Cape Ring. It's my favorite spot to do so because of the g-force on the cars and the feeling of speed.

In a race you have to let off just before the jump (depending on the car) to maintain control. What's worse is if you've added rear but not front downforce. The rear hits the ground first making it even easier to lose control.

On the other hand, it is fun to park your car just over the apex of the hill and watch cars fly over you. You can do it on both Cape Ring and Eiger.

I did try to pull into one of the parking areas off to the side but an imaginary wall stopped me.

A little air is nice every now and then.

People keep saying I'm not supposed to like Cape Ring. I must be doing something wrong then because I love it!

To me, it shows much more creativity than the typical "semi-realistic" GT track. They tried to combine elements of old-school racing (the jump and cliffside section), futuristic design (the loop), current tracks (outer south and inner north sections), and even a bit of oval (inner south section and, again, the loop). And, for me at least, it works quite well.

There are a few airborne moments in Nordschleife too so what were they thinking?? :D

Apparently I am way too slow on Nordschleife. Never been airborne there... Thanks for making me feel even worse for my lack of speed. *sniff*

I kinda like Cape Ring too.. You can take the bump at just about any speed, you just have to be sure you're heading in a straight line when you hit it and don't turn on landing.

With Cape Ring I always get the impression they tried put in as much corners as possible within the outer banks of the track :P

Put I like the jump, just fun going airborne. But I like the one in Deep Forest better. At least I think it was Forest, it's the hump you get on the straight coming out of the tunnel, can pull a sick wheelie there with my lambo LP-640 :D

Me and my mate have a class few pictures of us jumping cars off that jump.

We also use the Barrier marks as jump distance markers. The current record is a saleen S7 at 14 marks.

Brilliant fun in something not too powerful but quick at the same time. Like the Rally Cars or the RM Subaru

Ring is pretty fun to drift in thanks to all those hairpins.

With that said, the WORST track is monza, for having an unforgiveable amount of chicane traffic and the rest of the track being absolutely boring.

Not once have I lost control over a jump. In this game it doesn't even feel like hitting a bump let alone jumping 5-10 metres.

I hate Monza too. I've no idea what sort of historical importance it might have but to me it's just boring straights tied together by equally boring corners.

I really love the Cape Ring Periphery track - beautiful sweeping curves on following that crazy jump - the rest of the track just has a really nice flow to it... the full Cape Ring track is a little crazy in my opinion though, far too convoluted. :)
