Today in this thread features builds from different GTP members who are plays NFSU2.

For this week's theme: ..I Get That Reference! (theme chosen by @rallymorten)

"Time to do what many a player in Underground 2 has done before you - build a car that's basically identical to one featured in a movie, another game or whatever. Plot twist: The vehicle you're referencing can not be from either the Need For Speed or Fast And Furious franchises. Sorry, everyone planning on making a 2F2F Skyline."

Rules given by rallymorten:
- Only parts unlocked by playing through the game can be used, including vinyls.

'Tis be a hard one to pick. I like the variation we've got, though.

Definitely the odd one out, and the influence is not hard to spot. Comes with reference-correct trunk layout as well. GTA Onlines Moonbeam is proud of that wall of speakers. Dare I say it's probably the closest to the source material (i.e. in terms of appearance and not necessarily 100%-correctness)?

A completely different kind of beast. Can't say I'm familiar with the reference myself (bonus points for being arguably the most obscure), but I do like the build. I wouldn't call it "understated" or "clean" as such, but something about it ticks the right boxes. Maybe it's the "mouth" at the front that makes it look like it's ready to eat one of those pesky white vans.

Again, the referenced vehicle shines through, and it generally feels like a proper race car. I choose to see the nitrous bottles in the trunk as a reference to GT4 where pretty much anything could be given nitrous for easy wins.

Probably the one furthest from its source material, but that's mainly a result of NFS being.. well, NFS. It is a comparatively small build, but that just means there's less chance of it looking too tacky. Could be an advantage just as well as it could be a disadvantage.

..yeah, it's going to take some time to count the scores.

As for what I would build, I tried turning a Lexus into the Sultan RS of GTA fame some time ago:

Yeah, the headlights are wrong. I know.

Yeah, the headlights are wrong. I know.
Replace those Konig Podiums with Enkei RT6 rims then it really looks like the Sultan RS from GTAIV.

If I had an alphabetical plan for every car I prototyped for this entry, DJ here has to be at least Plan M. Went through a lot of media before somehow got the late George Michael's Careless Whisper playing on iTunes. It's not exactly that song, but it got that scene from Cars in mind.

"We got ourselves a nodder.."

Those four cars got selected, but it went down to either the leader Boost, or the mischievous DJ. I used an online RNG, and would decide between odd and even numbers. DJ won as an even number appeared.

Initially to be a Golf GTI Mk 4, the source car's shape screamed SUV, and became the Navigator as is. I'm not feeling too good about it due to the lack of in game contrast that DJ had such a strength at as he appeared in the movie.

. Subaru Impreza WRX STI by @JakeMR2 (car based from Speed King from Import Tuner Challenge)
You may have the wrong idea about that one it is based off the Tokyo Xtreme Racer: Drift 2 edition of Jiniti's WRX STI. Here is what it looks like in TXRD2, it uses the Bomex Widebody Kit, and Vapor was the base I could do on it for awhile of thought to it.

At 2:53 is what I was trying to do, sadly. Genki had multiple versions of his car though, so it gets kinda confusing after a while.

Oh? Will be updating it.

Excuse me @girabyt3 but apparently you voted your own build. Have you forgotten this rule?

Yeah, sorry, I wanted to vote for the Navigator, but my laptop has something that makes the pointer going crazy sometimes (even chrome goes crazy zooming in, zooming out), and when I was going to vote, it accidentally voted mine due to that, wanted to change it but I couldn't, ok, one vote doesn't count, I know I have just two votes :)

My laptop is a bit crazy, apart of that, sometimes it freezes up when charging the main screen

I'm giving you the chance to change your vote. Do it now.

We have ourselves a tie. Didn't see that coming though.

What should we do?

I have no idea, it's weird seeing a tie.
There are two ways I can solve this problem:

1. I can just mark this round as a tie and I'll be the one make the theme for the next round instead or

2. Let's have a tiebreaker. I'll be the one to choose a theme and the duration of the poll will be shorter than the usual duration. And you have 24-48 hours to send in your builds. Only those who are in this contest can send their builds.

I'm going to have a problem with this one, since I'll be building a new rig, so. It may be possible just to choose a new theme once I get Underground 2 again, with all the other old titles.

In situations like this, where the tie breaker would be as big as the actual round, I'd say whoever received the theme makers vote has priority and be done with it. Had at least one of the options had less votes, I suggest voting again, with only the tied ones.

I'm also pretty sure nobody would mind if a winner was to give the privilege of coming up with a theme to whomever they decide. I wouldn't.

I decided to reopen the poll once more but this I'll give it at least maybe 48 hours for users to vote.

I suggest asking other GTP users to vote. Maybe we could entice them to vote.

I'm not sure how to say to this, but since I'm in THAT mood right now ("not to be taken very seriously for the moment" mood), you could clickbait unsuspecting users here.

This contest can change your life!! Details inside..

I would say @JASON_ROCKS1998 could have win if he'd used the Sports Type 2 (Toyota Celica SS-II '99) since it's the closest one for a NFS-burnout crossover...

And it would have been the most accurate one of all, apart of my IS300 LM Race car//Touring car, and DJ Navigator

Judging by your second image, I would say it's a beta version, thus. Why it looks a bit more like a Celica compared to the final build of Burnout 3.

Yeah it does actually.

I wonder if it's possible that we can look into the files of Burnout 3 and see if there's any hidden stuff found there. There is also the demo version of B3 though.

Only less than 8 hours left and we still have tie between the Navigator, Impreza, and the 3000GT.
