Car seat base

I looked in the Cheap Cockpit Alternatives thread, but I was wondering what people could come up with for a simple base for a car seat.

I have a general idea in my mind, but if someone has a better idea, I'll use that instead.

My idea is basically a simple wooden box made out of 2x4's and plywood. Maybe with a slightly elevated attachment for a shifter to mount onto.

If someone has plans already made that they could post, I would really appreciate that too.

Like I said, the measurements will be based on the dimensions of the seat. I just drew the seat after I drew the base. That's just how it turned out. Not an actual representation of the measurements.

I bolted two 2" x 4" wooden rails in line with the runners. Elevating the seat much more than that means you'll need to lift everything up or the angle of your legs to the pedals will be too great.

I'll put some thought into a shifter mount. I'll probably have to make a pedal base anyways because the people below me whine if I so much as fart while sitting in a chair. Plus I want something for my heel to rest on when my foot isn't on the clutch, and the pedal base included with the wheel isn't doing that for me.

I'm doing this until I get the height just right. OK it's been like this for a while now but it's been too hot to weld in the basement and I'm that "Lazy Crazy opelgt guy" so what do we expect from me not a lot I hope. Thanks cschoei. That was just a picture of a seat I found on Google. I know it's a Miata seat, and that's what I would have been looking for, but a family member bought one and I'm just going to have to work with it for now. I'm not sure what car it's from. It's not bad by any means, but what I will probably do in the future is buy a proper seat (see below).
