Car Trading/Sharing

Ok, I know this may seem like a really stupid question, but how exactly is car trading done? I assume 2 PSP's have to be turned on & there needs to be 2 memory stick's involved, but does both PSP's have to have GT PSP loaded in order to do trade/share?

This is why I'm asking: My UMD drive stopped working so I bought a new PSP 3000. I was very pissed to find out that bcuz I created my save game on my PSP1000, I couldn't use it anymore unless I was playing it on my 1000. The whole reason I got the new PSP was so I didn't have to redownload all of my games but unless there's a way around it, I have to get GT PSP all over again. I still have my 1000, my plan was to get another memory stick & download GT PSP, then trade/share all my old cars. Do I need to download the game to trade cars or can I somehow trade cars without having the game on the second memory stick? I'm thinking probably not & I'm just going to have to get another copy of Gran Turismo but I'm just hoping someone can give me good news

Sorry for asking such a stupid question but hopefully someone will sympathize with my ******** situation

To trade/share, both PSP's have to be running the game and connected to each other (either directly or via something like adhoc party). If you use the same PSN account name on your new PSP you could probably install a downloaded version on it, launch both PSPs and share your cars.

thanks for replying.

That's what I was thinking. Once I get another memory stick, I can use my old PSP to download Gran Turismo & then trade cars. I was smart enough to back up my game save since I had to overwrite it on my memory stick. One thing I'm hoping will work but I'm not sure is reformatting the Memory stick I have and putting everything I have backed up back onto it & then seeing if I can load Gran TUrismo but something tells me it will still be able to tell that I originally saved the game on a different PSP. That info could be on the file itself and not the memory stick but I'll have to do more research before I waste my time backing up 4gb of info lol

Thanks man

if your going to download gran turismo, you'll need to have custom software.

do you mean download off of the UMD? I meant I was going to download it off PSN. I saw something about a UMD Dumper but as you said you need custon firmware which I don't have. It's a ****** solution but I may end up having to buy the game again if I don't meet up with anyone who has the game also. I think it's stupid that in order to continue my game it has to be on my old PSP. It wouldn't be a problem if my UMD drive worked but that was the whole reason I got a new PSP. that's my luck

yer, its pretty annoying, but i recomend you to get custom software, as you can do many more things with it.

yea it's definetly very irritating. I want to get custom firmware because I know there's a way to save the entire UMD to my memory stick. Plus i know there's other cool stuff you can do with custom firmware. It's possible to get custom firmware on a PSP3000 now right?

Actually I figured it all out. At least on one of the PSP's you need the UMD data installed. If you do that you can share cars no problem. To trade though, what you have to do is take the UMD out at certain points but both PSP's must be on to keep the connection. I ended up taking the UMD out 4 or 5 times but it all worked in the end so I saved myself alot of time by not having to get a few of the more expensive cars. I wish I figured this out before I bought BOTH F1 CARS!!! lol
