I searched and didn't find anything... Once on a race on the Ring one of the AI cars had an air brake setup. That is when turning right a huge panel would raise up on the right rear of the car helping it turn. At least that is what I think it was for. Any know what car that is and if it really works the way I think it does? Is it a RL car?

I quit the race before the end so I never caught the car's name.

From the sound of your post, it sounds as if you were describing the Mitsubishi HSR-II. This car has a total of 4 moving aerodynamic parts. It has 2 flaps on the rear which help with HARD braking. Also while cornering, the inside flap rises and the inside front fin extends. I am guessing Mitsubishi's theory with this car is that the force of the wind on the spoilers will cause the indide tires to gain more traction while cornering. Watching replays of this car are trippy. Driving with the view behind the car can also distract you enough to where you wreck! :dunce:

However, this car is pretty fun to drive. The engine sounds very similar to the one found in the 3000GT and the 4WD system also acts similar as well. Look for a Bi-Weekly Reccomendation for this car in the not-so-distant future.

Lots of cars have air brakes or Active Spoilers.I never driven the HSC so i would'nt know, but i HAVE driven the SLR. The SLR only puts up the extra downforce if you're moving and you brake beyond the half-point

The Mits. HSR-II, SLR Mclaren, and the Le Mans Quattro and Cadalic CIEN have adjusting spoilers.

So does Chrysler Misfire.. or was it Crossfire? whatever that ugly whale looking thing is.. and possibly those two mid-engined AWD concepts by hyundai?

The Misfire... Crossfire... spoiler is like the Porsche 911 Turbo spoiler. It raises above a certain speed to aid with high-speed stability. At around-town speeds the spoiler is retracted into the body, which gives the Crossfire the appearance of a goose with it's tail feathers pulled out...

It isn't a full 'active' spoiler system as such. Active spoilers are more like those on the Mitsubishi concept car - these spoilers/panels react to the movement of the car: cornering, acceleration, braking, etc.

This thread was answered in the middle of last year. DeSwyft brought it back for no apperent reason, and there is no need to continue it.

And, yes, topgeardude, please don't double post. We have an edit button so you don't have to.
