Been a lurker around here for yrs, got most of my sim racing experience from the GT series, combined that with a few PC sims I figure I have some feel for 'realism' in handling. I first came across CarX on PS4 a couple yrs ago, saw it as just fun little console port with wildly arcadish handling. I started paying attention to the drift assist and how that manifested on a game pad and saw there was a bit more 'realism' going on as evidenced by how the assist performs with the UI visually, but once I plugged in a wheel it all fell to crap; the force feedback felt all over the place, you couldn't utilize more than 540° of rotation without not being able to countersteer quickly enough...at best you could grip drive with sticky tires.
Everything changed about a couple of weeks ago when I got a PS5. Keep in mind, same base model Thrustmaster T150, same TV, same seating position, but now I can drift, utilize all available 1080°, countersteer effortlessly, sometimes only using braking or throttle control, and the feel is dare I say better than GT Sport. Though I don't have a reference for too many current gen PC sims my experiences with LFS and most recently Assetto Corsa aren't that far ahead in realistic feel.
I definitely need to upgrade to a third pedal And a shifter/handbrake, but based of this I might invest in the PC version and see if VR and motion/haptics provide a comparable experience to more reputable 'sims'
