Casual gamers go to settings

Hi guys... My son and I are very much casual gamers... We love playing the game but are never going to be competitive in the online world...

So we wondered are there any general go to settings for the cars that would be best for people like us who don't have the time to drill into the full tuning of each and every vehicle.

For example we always set each car as follows;
traction 2.
Highest power
Lowest weight.
Lowish ride heights.

Tyres.... I'd like some advice on this one? Sports soft maybe?

Appreciate your input?

Are you referring to campaign? Or races in public lobbies?

For campaign, I did not change any setup on any track, it wasn't necessary.

For online lobby races the only thing I do is remove the understeer from the default setup by changing the ridiculous 7/4 anti-roll bars to a balanced 6/6 anti-roll bars - for me this pretty much shaves off about 3 seconds per lap on a 1min30 lap, I detest understeer with every fiber in my being. Oversteer happiness is the way to go for me

Edit: tyre-wise, I would match the AI's tires (when doing campaign) and for online match the players in the lobby I'd say.

Keep the cars at their standard power and weight and leave setups standard.
Then just learn the tracks.

Thanks guys...
If you are planning on racing in the online daily races as you are practicing offline always set your cars up to run with the BoP settings in your garage before you take it out to practice.

That way as you practice you will get used to the car using the horsepower and weight settings that you will find employed in the online races. Currently in the daily races no tuning of suspension is allowed.

Traction control at least to 2! Also Counter steer to strong. There’s also Stability Management or whatever it’s called but I think that’s too much, I don’t even enable that for the girlfriend:D

I agree with this if you plan to better yourself for the Sport mode races. If you don't care about Sport mode, then I say run the settings however you feel comfortable. If you're trying to be semi-competitive for public lobbies (unranked), I personally like to run between 0-2 traction depending on the car, and I play a bit with the brake balance as well. I don't tune much as of now because I'm usually happy with default setups for most cars. There are definitely some cars that suck with default settings so I get in on that for those. Tires, I usually stick to Racing Hard for race cars and Sports Soft for normal cars. This is because that's how they normally run the Sport mode races. Good luck.

Thanks guys...

Best way in my opinion (and contrary to some posts):

Assists off except ABS. Especially with physics now improved since release. Default set-up.

Pick 1 car and 1 track, an FR is a good choice. When you start laps, just go slow, get a feel for the car. Don't mash the throttle or slam the brakes. Even if you're braking 50-75m early and really late on power, it's fine until you have confidence. Every lap just brake that little bit later, turn in that little bit more aggressively, get on throttle slightly earlier... you'll notice a pattern every lap through corners of how the car feels, weight transfer, grip levels, of course your driving line... Hard to put into words but just keep doing it over and over turning laps, and that'll build your confidence 110%.

Adding to this: Do ALL license tests without any assist besides the ABS, the DS4 triggers are optimal for throttle control, so you can control your corner exists easier than it used to be on PS3.

In fact, I dare to say you will be driving much faster without all the aids once you get used to it, specially the TCS, that one slows you down a lot on high speed corners.

If by "casual", you mean the #1 objective is FUN, then my advice is "never feel guilty about a tuning choice".

For example, I put Racing tires on my Shelby Cobra to tame its "bad manners" and never looked back. If I need "challenge", I'll tweak the power.

I always max out aero downforce if it's available.

Purists would disagree of course!
