Why is the car so popular? Everyone seem to drive it in public lobby races and leagues.

I tried it for the first time along with a couple of others and we hated it. Really horrible suspension that took all of a 30min quali session to half tame it. Nasty twitchy on the brakes compared to the [few] other GT4 cars I've tried. It's simply not nice to drive. But it's the lack of engine sound that really kills if for me. It's almost impossible to hear the engine downshifting. I had to keep looking at the hud to make sure I'd actually changed down and to see what my revs were.

Urgh!

Vid of my first attempt

I can only assume it's the fastest of the GT4 cars?

There's no Chevy Camaro GT4 (please SMS!) in the game, and I like Porsche's so the Cayman it is. Asside from some sneaky loose condition that seems connected to weight transfer/lift-off and has been occassionally biting me in esses and chicanes, it handles very nicely for me on the stock "stable" setup.

I am currently doing the Porsche Cayman Cup in the career, it is a strange drive I agree.

It does not seem to have a downshift blip.. so I have to blip the throttle when downshifting to keep the car stable under braking.

To me is it seems to handle more like a rear engine Porsche not a mid. I did not expect so much of the pendulum effect when the rear gets loose.

I wonder if this is the same thing I'm experiencing. I figured it had something to do with the engine placement, but I'm not sure how to tune it out (I don't understand tuning much beyond aero).

Yeah, to be honest I have not done much tuning at all in pCARS 2. I just practice and set the AI difficulty and aggression to match my times closely once I am comfortable with the car and track. I don't spend as much time with it and am not a natural at turning so basically I leave it be.

You maybe able to find some good tunes online for it.. I just load up the loose tune, reduce the fuel, slap on soft tires and go for it.

The Cayman GT4 doesn't have its real engine sound, it's like it's taken straight from NFS MW, but I actually like that engine sound a lot, partly for nostalgic reasons I guess...

I drove it a couple times, handles well as far as I'm concerned.
