Changing Force Feedback Strength

I thougth I should address this since no one has brought the issue up. This concerns the Logitech Driving Force Pro wheel:

Changing Force Feedback Strength. The force feedback effects in many driving games have been turned to feel best with the original Logitech GT Force and Driving Force wheels. The DRIVING FORCE PRO wheel can generate approximately twice the force of the original wheels, which can make the forces in some older games feel too strong or make the game difficult to play when used with this new wheel. To compensate for this, the default force level for legacy games has been reduced to 60% of the Driving Forces Pro's potential. IF YOU WISH to play thes games at 100% FORCE strength, please do the following: With the wheel properly connected and with a game loaded that supports force feeback, simultaneously press the R3 button, Select button, and the left paddle shifter. The left LED will flash twice to indicate 100% strength mode, and once for 60% force strength. THIS BUTTON COMBINATION WILL ALLOW YOU TO TOGGLE BETWEEN FORCE MODES AT WILL.

The force is very strong at 100 percent in GT3, I just leave it at 60%.

Question of other Driving Force Pro owners: When unplugged can you turn your wheel 900 degrees?

I was able to turn it unplugged 900 degrees right after i got it out of the box, once i ran it w/ GT3 and other games only goes 180 now.

btw, is there a way to make it go 900 degrees on the PC?

thanks

You can toggle between 900 or 200 degrees anytime during a game that supports force feedback. I just found out how.

Its not that effective in GT3 because it wasn't designed for 900 degrees, but if you wish you can play it with 900 degrees.

Ask me how and I'll enlighten you.

What's the left paddle shifter?

I would love to know how to do this. I thought it was built into the software.Well I guess not.

so how do u make it 900 degrees?

select+R3+right paddle= 900 degree mode (do it again to toggle back)

select+R3+left paddle= force feedback to 100% (do it again to toggle back)

The DFP puts "chalks" in the way of the wheel so that it cannot turn past 200 degrees when you play in 200 degree mode. They don't get taken out untill you play in 900 degree mode, so that's why the steering wheel doesn't rotate further when you turn the game off. If you want to turn it 900 degrees when the game is off, put it in 900 degree mode before you turn the game off.

Personally, I don't like 900 degree mode - I only used it on GT3:A and Toca2...toca 2 sucked because I didn't know the tracks and it sucks to reverse and try to steer all the way in the other direction when using the paddles to downshift all the way into reverse. GT3:A sucked because it wasn't designed for 900 degrees and so there were noticeable "gaps" inbetween steering points.

Also, whomever didn't know where the paddle shifters were: you should check into configuring GT3:A to use the paddle shifters - I find it works a lot better than the sequential gear shift knob.

www.wingmanteam.com has a great message board dedicated to all things logitech.

Also, this all seems redundant since it is in the VERY FIRST POST of "the logitech driving force pro thread"

search button + reading = knowledge & not getting flamed (as much)

Are there paddles behind the steering, as in F1 cars, called semi automatic gears?

and that shift in the right of the steering...goes just up and down
?

Ok, i posted a question a few days ago but not many people replied. I was wondering if any of you thought that the DFP wheel was to stiff, even with the force feedback off? When i first turn on my PS2 the wheel feels very free and easy to rotate. As soon as GT3 starts to boot up, and the wheel calabirtaes itself, it gets all stiff. Is there any way to make the wheel more easy to turn? I feel if i turn too fast in the game it will brake. Any one else have this concern?

It feels almost the same as when you try to turn your wheel when the ps2 is turned off, but not as bad.

Breaker Ohio to answer your question, i can't turn my wheel 900 degrees when my ps2 is off. I think if you set the wheel to 900 degree mode whilst your in the game and then turn your ps2 off, you will be able to turn 900 degrees.
