I am curious if anyone has this issue. I changed the location of my modem and router (wireless) to a new location in the house in order to hook my XBox up online w/o buying that silly wireless connector.

Now I am getting no signal. The cable is working when hooked to a TV, so not sure WHY it isnt picking up a signal for the modem. I placed it back to the original location and no issues.

Anyone have a suggestion? Before you ask, the Canble company (Time Warner) was about as helpful as an anchor when skydiving.

Do you have the install disc for the modem?

I know with DSL it's locked to one outlet and if you change it you have to setup the modem again.

Yeah, DSL is like that because it is a direct line, but cable isnt, so not sure why its doing that. Thanks for the suggestion though.

Well you can run a long Ethernet cable to your xbox. Such as this one(make sure you measure the length you need).

Yeah I thought about that...would need 93 feet :/.

I am just going to get the wireless adapter, sick of dealing with it lol.

I had a problem very similar to that, with Time Warner. They sent out a tech and he fixed it by putting a different splitter on my line running to where I wanted my modem. He said something about my line needing to be under 50 or something and it was around 60. Something to do with feedback or something. All I know is that mine works better then it has in the last few years. Call them and tell them you want a tech to come and check the line.

I had the same problem also but it was a filter on the pole. It made a huge difference.

Well...call me a dummy.

I placed my wireless router on top of my entertainment center that is about 7 feet tall, while I moved the gear from one room to the main room. Everyting was hooked up just right, but...while sliding the entertainment center back, the cord from the router came undone. Since it was up high I didnt even notice it...

Problem solved by pluging the power cord ALL the way into the router :dunce:
