changing short and long gears, does anyone notice the car understeers more?

I changed my individual gear ratios I was using for Le Mans (long ratios) to drive a different course with short gear ratios and the car started under steering really badly. This was the only change so it made me think there is something to this, because when I returns the gears to fit Le Mans the car instantly stopped understeering soo hard and became very nice to drive again.

car in questions is a Tuned 458 Ferrari, does anyone else notice this and or take this into account when tuning car ? If yes, what is your mentality or thought process while tuning

in a nut shell,

lower top speed transmission gear ratios will cause the car to understeer more.
higher top speed transmission gear ratios will cause the car to steer more

This is what I thought or was experiencing. Anyone want to chime in on this ?

Yes, gears effect handling. You're effectively manipulating the torque applied to tires.
Search around, there's been a few discussions on it.
