Changing Tires??

Im wondering how to change the tires on my 70 challenger R/T. I bought some racing soft tires for it earlier today, but then had to buy sports for the b-spec tire restriction. I go to the tuning section in the garage and see no option to change the tires, it does list the sports, and racing tires for it but sports are equipped. Thanks

In the garage where you select your car next to the change car button is a tuning button. All tuning of fitted items is done there.

The tyres are already owned for that car, if there is a tyre restriction it should automatically change to the correct tyre as long as it's owned for that car. This is what it did for me when changing from a tarmac race to a dirt one and viceversa.

I went there and it showed the tires, but if I select them it gives description and no option to actually fit them. I wonder if I have to be a higher level to use the racing soft tires?

I have the very same problem! I'm telling you, my Dodge Viper with 950 BHP has serious handling-issues with hard sports-tyres..! Bought the racing tyres.. But can't apply them. Even in a race with no tyre-restrictions.

I'm having the same problem. I have 3 sets of tires for the Italia. It shows it has the racing hard on it. I tried to change them to racing soft, which I already own, but when I go to the area to change it it's just telling me about the tires and the only box I can click on is to close the screen. It was a race where any tire could be used so that isn't the problem. I tried changing them from the garage and from just prior to the race but thy won't change. Any advice? Thanks

Go to "Driving Options" in the start race screen.

This is where you can set your driving aids and select the tires you need. 👍

No, this was just clarified in the thread about using slicks online:

This is of course not clear AT ALL in the game, but it seems that when you buy items from the parts store, they are NOT automatically associated with your currently selected car UNLESS you choose to install them at the time of purchase. INSTALLING is what associates them with the car. If you don't install them at the time of purchase, you have to go to the Items screen off the main GT Life tab, select the part (tires in this case), and install them on a particular car. THEN they will be added to the list of parts associated with that car, and in the case of tires, they'll be selectable at race time.

It's pretty shocking how nonsensical the menu systems are in this game.

Hmmm in think I did install them at the time of purchase. I don't buy things except when I need them. But I will look. I tried what Starfirebird said and it shows the tires there but doesn't give an option to select them. I will look again tonight.

BTW this is not for then online racing just the racing against the AI's

This doesn't always work.

In the rally special races mode, there are three challenges that require dirt, snow and road tires.

You have to buy a new set of tires and install before you go to each challenge, because the stupid game won't let you change tires before entering a race, and it won't let you enter some challenges unless you have the right tires.

Even in "driving options", it won't let me change tires, it just shows what tires I've bought. As the game is at 1.02, the only way to change tires is to buy and install over and over.

It's a bug. One would think in 6 years they would have found the time between making trailers to actually beta test the game.

Then problem with that is when i try purchase the tires again it says I already own them and won't let me get them.

You have to go to driving options and there listed in there(before a race)

I took his advance and the option is there. The drop down box under tires list all the tires that you have for the current car. If you look before you do a rally even you will see that on the dirt the dirt tires are on the car. I am not sure where the confusion is coming from.

Before you hit exit on the green checkered flag to start the race scroll over to Driving Options. There you will see that you have two different lines for tires. Front and Rear you can click on each one and choose what ever tires you own to put on the car.

I figured it out. I was looking at the other screen where you can adjust the trans and suspension. It shows tires first thing when you open it so I figured that is where I change them.

Wow - good to know! Thanks

+1 to all of the above.

yeah i have been playing gt since there was a demo for it onthe old demo discs and I was freaking out today cause I couldn't switch from my sport to my race tires...both were installed at the time of purchase... but I can't change them in the tuning menu...only gives me a description.. could of swore that I have changed tires in the tuning section before on gt5. Oh well at least I can change them in the aids menu

in not sure what the deal is but i cant change tires at all on b spec. i bought the tires i already owned and installed them with no success.

when i go to Driving Options before a race, i see tires in the list but everything except Racing Hard is grayed out.

tuning options give no option to change..... any car i try that doesnt even have hard sports tires, seems like it still puts them on.

the only thing i can think is that if the racing softs are in fact equipped, the display in the race is showing sports hard
