Chapperall 1970 2j race car

When i bought this car, i thought it was a mistake. the car accelerated slower than anything i saw, but once it got going, it went 175 mph top speed. well, it would be good on the test course, but not in a real race. so, i bought all i could for the little race car. it fishtailed uncontrolably on turns, and it is not like a normal racecar. it handles funky, but i got it to go 234 mph. here is what i did to make it better, and get through endurance races easily. it is my favorite car. it sounds cool to.

turbo kit - 90,000
tires - ( however much)

tuning

suspension - stiffened, and lowered all the way.
transmission - set at a "21" with the 3rd gear set as long as posible.

I LOVE THE CHAPPERALL 2J

and it is not like a normal racecar. it has 2 jet engines for propulsion.

I LOVE THE CHAPPERALL 2J

Well actually, the 'two jet engines' arn't jet engines at all. They are both suction fans, designed to generate suction underneath the car. It's actually powered by a Chev V8.

What? oh well. i thought the "2J" stood for "2 jets" or somethin. :dunce: it does handle wierd though.

I bought the Chap also because I liked the look of it. With a stage 4 turbo (no other mods) on racing super hards, and the gearing adjusted a bit, it hit 260mph :scared: on Mulsanne unchicaned, without draft, but it gets a bit unstable at high speed :nervous: The best thing is, it can win the GTWC, a lot of races without pitting. I had trouble winning Hong Kong with a Minolta, but in the Chap, I beat the leading Sauber C9 by 7 seconds :sly: because I didnt have to pit at all on super hards. The car does handle a bit weird, but is fun to drive. My only complaint is the silly 3 speed transmission :yuck:

I am a bit dissapointed with the other chap (2d?). The accelaration is pathetic. 👎 and it handles really poorly (unstable at speed, really soft suspension, acceleration)

I wish that there were more chaparrals in the game, some of the funky looking ones with huge wings sticking up in the middle of the car.

My 2j just oversteers all the time? What can I do to prevent it...its impossible to drive!

My 2j just oversteers all the time? What can I do to prevent it...its impossible to drive!

are you driving too fast? well, here are the settings that work best for my 2j.

suspension...

13.8,15.8
55,55
- , -
8,8
8,8
2.0,1.5
o, o
6,6

systems...

(oversteer) 11
(understeer)11
(TCS)7

basicly, you need the systems for this car.

"use the TCS luke, use the TCS ..." LOL :)
if you turn the systems off, it will fishtail, as i have found out with B-spec Bob.

oh, what is the difference between Oversteer and Understeer? i mix the two up... :dopey:

Happy racing!
