Chassis Reinforcement

Does anyone get this upgrade? I've heard that it can hurt the handling of your car, but you can't find out unless you get it, at which point you can't take it off. You can even do this on the 88C-V. Why would that car need chassis reinforcement? Why does chassis reinforcement not add weight?

Also, does anyone know how this combines with the restore chassis rigidity repair?

I've always felt that if you buy a new car(Premium) that it is not needed.

When you buy a used car(Standard) it is needed.

Example - i bought a new Evo and installed this upgrade just to test it out.It made the car understeer badly and took me ages to tune it out.

I bought the same car and did not buy it and i was able to tune it easier as it did not underteer as much.

I bought a used car(RX-7) and tried it without the upgrade.Oversteered quite badly and understeered at the same time.I then bought the upgrade and man did it make a difference.

Now this is just from what i've experienced. Some others may have differing opinions on the matter.

I had a brand new 330 P4 ferrari and it would lift off oversteer alot. I put this upgrade and it sorted that out. i guess it reacts differently to every car.

What is the possibility that not only does the chassis stiffening help reduce flex but can also extend the life of the chassis before it ridigity would need to be restored?

Would only seem to make sense that if the chassis had additional bracing that it would stand up to the rigors of hard racing for an extended length of time over just a stock unstrengthened chassis before rebuilding would be required.

I do wish PD would offer a little more explanation of exactly what mods of this type actually do as far as the benefits or perhaps even what if any drawbacks may be associated with such.

I do not mind spending credits as much for upgrades when I really know what the benefits are that I am buying. Maybe PD needs a salesman in the tuning shop!

Were you drifting? :P

I have no idea what this mod does. I have an older Evo I built for rally that horrendously understeers now (it feels like it drives FF, and I have a 20/80 split on the diff).

It seems really odd that this mod is available even for cars like the X1. I don't think that car is getting any more rigid!

My theory is that it reduces the rate at which your chassis "softens" with time and damage.

I am curious about the handling aspects if they are perceived or real. Going to setup some blind tests with my friend.

I've wondered if any of the testers first try track times with-out this installed, then go back and compare times with it installed?

Did anyone run any tests on this yet? I just bought a F2007 and sure enough - chassis reinforcement was the only available upgrade for the car.

I purchased it of course, but I've never gotten a straight answer about what it does.

What I find most interesting about Chassis Reinforcemet is that it is the only tuning option that...
1.) no car in the game ever comes already equipped with
2.) is always available as an upgrade option on every car in the game

When everything else at the tune shop is greyed out, Chassis Reinforcement is still there waiting for you. It is weird as hell.

Very, very good question. It would be nice to have a description of what this actually does. I don't want to change the handling of my cars in some unknown way, but I've been buying this in the belief that it helps avoid deterioration. Who knows.

In my experience, it adds understeer.
I had a major issue with the RUF RGT, doing this made a monumental difference when combined with the GT auto maintence. I never use it, unless the car is unstably-loose.

Finally got my Red Bull X2010 today (thanks, Bob!) Again, Chassis Reinforcement is the only upgradable option.

I am drawing a line in the sand on this one.

No Chassis Reinforcement for my new baby until PD tells us what exactly what it affects. :irked:
