Herherher... in a discussion on another board on the merits of electric superchargers, me and a couple of friends were talking about whether these crud computer fan units could actually produce any useable boost. Looked into it further, and to produce actual, useable boost on a small engine (say, 1.6 to 2.4 liters), in the realm of 6-7 psi, you need about 10-15 hp. That's why Thomas Knight's electric supercharger kit (still one of the few that actually works) has an ultra-expensive custom-wound triple motor supercharger. Good for about 30-60 seconds worth of boost with the standard battery pack.

Why much around with something that expensive, though? Why not just shove a 150cc scooter motor in there, and link the throttle on the scooter motor to the throttle of the main engine. There, you have about 12-16 hp attached to your turbine... producing a sustainable 7+ psi of boost.

That Vette is probably only getting 2-3 psi from the leaf blowers. Still enough for some midrange... but if you want real power, you want to get the most powerful small motor you can under the hood... or bolted to the top of it...
