Lotus 340R...looks mean but really it's only got an inline 4

When you weigh as little as that thing does, you'd probably only need a lawn mower engine to pull sub 15 standing quarters.

it's not meant to be beautiful... it's meant to go fast, so it's very, very light.... i'm pretty sure a 340R could leave a Viper or Vette in its dust on a racetrack.

Yeah i'm pretty sure it could there PR, the brand new elise has the power to weight ratio of a Diablo, so its quite fast as well.

:D The front end looks like a shark, but the tail end looks like an old Bug crossed with an old Ford pickup. I hope this thing is fast because if you have to look at it for too long it could cause vision loss!!

I really like it, looks aside.

Remember when the Esprits only had I-4s?

Yes but the I-4 esprits were MASSIVELY quick. That happens when you strap a supercharger to an 1-4. The ttV8 isn't to shabby either.

I've noticed that some of you guys seem very interested in cars first mentioned over a year ago. Interesting

I have a massive video of it. The guy induces a spin, lets it go for three revolutions, then brings it out again, and drives off... Absolutely stunning.

Some people don't keep up on the recent cars, so they discover them really late. I first saw it 3 years ago on one of the concept car programs on tv.

I'm surprised none of you have picked up on the name: 340 is the power to weight ratio in bhp/tonne.

It's one light car!

I thought 340 bhp per tonne was what they were aiming for but didn't quite acheive it. Something like the Westfield Megabusa has a much higher power to weight thanks to it being much lighter and having the 1300 Suzuki Hayabusa motorbike engine in it.

BTW Deathhawk the Esprit 4 was turbocharged not supercharged:)

From what I read long ago, if you remove the Cat, with one of the straight pipes the offer from the factory, it will increase the BHP/ton closer. They even give you a bag to put the cat in, so that you won't wreck it.

Humm what was I smoking when I wrote that.. Oh well... For more (very good) info's check out http://www.espritfactfile.com/

The Lotus 340R:
-Should be in GT
-One of the rarest Lotus ever made
-???better than the Elise in handling???
-A real collector car
-Bizzare as the Prowler
-(if I have the $$$$$$) I'll get this and the M250 !
-M250 is more powerful ;)

This although kinda rare, can be found quite easily. They have one for sale in EVO magazine now, and are quite commonly for sale on ebay.

I better have better handleing than the elise, it has upgarded suspension, better chassis, better tires, lower weight, lower stance, lower center of gravity. Must I go on :)

Unfortunately, it is not practicle here as it snows half the year, then rains the other half.

- M250 is ugly
- If I had the money, I'd buy a 2002 Lotus Elise Type 72 (), whack a V8 in it, slap on a turbo and some nos in case of a cop chase :)
