Originally designed as a show car for the 1953 Motorama display at the New York Auto Show, the Corvette generated enough interest to induce GM to make a production version to sell to the public. The 1953 model was hand-made with only 300 made and only came in one color: Polo White.

Specs:

Wheelbase - 102 in (2590.8 mm)
Length - 167 in (4241.8 mm)
Width - 72.2 in (1833.88 mm
Height - 51.3 in (1303.02 mm)
Weight - 2,850 lbs (1292.738 kg)
Acceleration (0-60 mph / 0-96 km/h) - 11.0 seconds
Horsepower - 150 HP

If you like Chevrolet:

Chevrolet El Camino 1959
Chevrolet Corvette (C1) Convertible 1954 (premium suggestion)

The standard is the 1954 model and there's a thread for that one as well for it to be premium.

This thread is for the 1953 model (which is not in GT6).

I would be happy if they put either this or the 1954 model in as premium, but I would also want the (4 headlight) 1960 car - that year the Briggs Cunningham team took three almost completely standard C1 Corvettes to Le Mans and came 1st in class and 8th overall. An idea of how close to standard they were is given by the fact that after the race they were shipped back to the USA and refitted with road equipment and sold as normal road corvettes - no doubt with the claim "cherished car with one previous careful owner".

You can vote for the Le Mans car - click on the link below:

The spec was 283 V8 (290bhp) with the optional Rochester fuel injection, heavy duty drum brakes, cast iron heads for longevity in place of the alloy option.
