Hi all,

I purchased a PSP and GT in Hong Kong a few months ago, and recently I tried to install the free cars from the PAL PS Store, and now they are downloaded but do not appear in the game.

Whats going on? Is it the fact that its from Hong Kong? If so how do I get the cars?

HELP!

You bought UMD or downloaded the game ?

If you run a lap in time trial mode, save ghost replay, quit the game, connect to your PC, PSP, SAVEDATA : do you have UCES*****RPLY" prefix or "UCUS*****RPLY" ? If you have UCES -> EUR version of the game, if UCUS -> US version of the game, have you other prefix ?

I don't know if the Australian PSN Store is EUR version or US version (not sure about your "PAL PS Store either" ;) ) but I guess it would be EUR, if you downlaoded EUR SP Model pack with a US game -> won't work, US SP Model with a EUR game -> won't work... Or both of us are the unluckiest guys in the world ;) !

So the first thing you have to do is to check which version of the game you have or try to download the US and the EUR SP Model pack to compare ! Personaly I have a PSP 3006 bought in HK, downloaded version of the game in EUR PSN Store + SP Model and everything is ok !

Now if you do have a UMD US version of the game but an Australian PSN account with EUR version, you might have to buy another Memory Stick Duo, create a new account on US PSN Store and download the pack on the new Memory Stick Duo. I haven't tried it yet I'm waiting for the US version of the game to be cheaper than that 39.99 dollars like the special offer we had in EUR PSN GTPSP = 17.90 euros (we have Assassin's Creed Bloodlines for 19.90 euros right now) ! So I don't know if it's possible-. However I know that when I download US games demos on the EUR PSN account+Memory Stick, that doesn't work, but works on the US PSN Account+Memory Stick 2, so I think it might work too with the games !!!-...

Here is the EUR SP Model pack :

Enzo Ferrari '02 Giallo Modena
Lamborghini Countach LP400 '74 Arancio
Citroen GT by Citroen '08 Yellow
Nissan GT-R SpecV '09 Metallic Blue
Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren '03 Red

US version SP Model pack :

Enzo Ferrari '02 Giallo Modena
Lamborghini Countach LP400 '74 Arancio
Citroen GT by Citroen '08 Yellow
Nissan GT-R SpecV '09 Metallic Blue
Bugatti Veyron 16.4 '09 Black

Good luck !

Based upon what I have read previously on this board that statement is incorrect. I will try to summarise and hope I get it right:

1. All the DLC cars will work with all versions.
2. The DLC is tied to the PSN account that your PSP is registered to.
3. Your game save is also tied to the PSN account that your PSP is registered to (I guess this might be because of importing garages into GT5).

Hence there is no way to have eg both Euro & US DLC cars in the same gave save.

Where you bought your PSP is irrelevant (I bought mine in Singapore but live in the UK).
Note: if you buy abroad then consider doing firmware updates via a PC to get your local region version - yes there are differences because if you update firmware via PSP online then if will be tied to your PSP version, ie where you bought it.

Back to the OP; provided you adhere to points 2 & 3 then I do not know what is wrong. Are you sure they are not there ? eg check your garage and make sure the box at the top right is 'by manufacturer'. Your situation is no different to mine and I have had no problems.

To clarify, I bought both the game on UMD and the PSP in Hong Kong, the game is the Chinese release (I suppose, the manual is half Chinese). When I got home I downloaded the DLC from the Playstation Store, and it has downloaded successfully but not installed as I cannot find the cars anywhere in the game. I have only one PSN account and its Australian.

You need to download the DLC pack from the Hong Kong PSN store. Even though the PSP/PSPGames are region free, the DLC is locked to the region based on the game. So if your game is the Hong Kong region (whatever that is) then you need to match the DLC to the game region.

Suspected as much. Don't suppose anyone around here has the Hong Kong version of the DLC in a file that they could point towards?

True, clearer said that way ;) ! It won't work because " there is no way to have eg both Euro & US DLC cars in the same gave save." Thanks 👍 !

One question is still remaining : if you have a UMD US version of the game BUT have an european PSN account, you'll have no choice but to download the EUR SP Model pack, right ? Will it work ?

And because he has a UMD version, if he creates a US PSN account, download the US pack, will it work ?

Because I have two Memory Stick :
- one for the US (linked to the US PSN account) that allows me to play US demos
- one for the EUR (linked to the EUR PSN account) that allows me to play EUR games + demos

I had to do that because I wasn't able to go to the US PSN store without a new US PSN account, so created one ! I downloaded demos but wasn't able to play them on the EUR PSN account Memory Stick. So I bought a Memory Stick which is linked to the US PSN account and if I want to play with the US demo, I'll have to switch the Memory Sticks.

So what if his UMD is a US version and he downloaded the EUR SP Models pack, his UMD is not linked to any account but the downloaded pack is... Consequently I think there might be a problem between the downloaded Pack version and the game version -not a PSN account problem-. And thus if it so he might have to try another Memory Stick linked with another account in order to be able to download the right pack version according to his UMD version... The thing is we have to find out which version of the game he has, that's why I proposed to do the Replay test.

I'm just trying help find out why that doesn't work ;) !

Ok I have a hk PSN account : the downloadable game is an english/chinese/korean version, bad news : no SP Model Pack with the game nor in the Add-ons... Sorry

EDIT : Don't know about the prefix... UCKR ?

EDIT 2 : nothing on the korean PSN Store either... http://www.playstation.co.kr/

EDIT 3 : nothing on the singapore PSN store : http://asia.playstation.com/sg/en/psn/gameDetail/75190

EDIT 4 : nothing on the Taiwan PSN Store, and I'm afraid the other PSN Stores in the Asia Region won't have the SP model... http://asia.playstation.com/tw/cht/game/gameDetail/82180

So the cars were DL to your PS3 - did they install to the PSP or did you get an error message ? If you did not get an error message then they are in your garage.

Note: I write the above because many people have 'lost' cars in their garage and then found them. If you have only just started the game also check the numbers of cars you own on the summary page.

@peter_vod69 : any news ? What we said helped you ?

Haven't had a chance to check the replay file yet (only got to record one today!) I'll check it tonight and get back to you guys.

StevenDunn - no the file was downloaded to the psp direct, its there on the memory stick, but the cars aren't in the garage. I don't have heaps of cars so it'd be easy to spot them if they were there.
