Chrysler 200C Concept: New Sebring?

A range-extended four-passenger sedan, the car is about the size of a BMW 5-Series. A rear-wheel-driver powered by a plug-in hybrid drivetrain that includes a "small gasoline engine" - Chrysler didn't say how small - aided by a lithium-ion batteries and an electric generator putting out 55kW (74 horsepower) of continuous power. The system's combined forces are good for 200 kW (268 hp) of peak power. The car can go 40 miles on electric power alone (a number that sounds rather familiar), and has an estimated range of up to 400 miles. The 200C is not a slowpoke, either, with a predicted 7-second blast to sixty, and a top speed north of 120.

Inside, the 200C Concept is crammed with enough tech to guide a starfleet. The interactive dashboard is infinitely changeable, internet enabled (via Chrysler's uConnect), and tied into security cameras and street cameras when you want to see how long the line is out front of the Delta Terminal at Detroit Metro. Even better, you can control everything from the integrated tablet PC in the glovebox or from an iPhone-like controller - even roll down the windows and check on the status of the car. And the technology leaf for the passenger also gets a huge shoutout. You can read all about it in the minutely thorough press releases after the jump, and the live presser video is also available. We can only hope this is a preview of the new Sebring. It finally looks like a respective vehicle again, as long as they don't dull the design down too much for production, which is probably going to happen unfortunately, I don't see how they can go wrong. My brother drives a 1997 Sebring LXi Coupe, and in my opinion that one and maybe the generation after that were the only good ones. Your opinions?

Sorry about the pics, Imageshack isn't working for me. Click the link for more info.

Rear wheel drive? That must have slipped completely under the radar.

Well, then its official:

I have no idea if this is replacing the Sebring or the 300C.

Actually thats not bad. Would be a great interior if they leave it like that. Nice styling. If only they can make it cost effective,it could be a winner.

I must say, the design looks less "tough" than the 300C, but it looks extremely luxurious and classy. Classic luxury cars always had a boat-tail design like that, and I love it. Chrysler still can come up with super classy designs, but they never make it to production!

I think they should make this thing a little bigger and replace the 300C with it. And make it...good.

Anybody remember the Chrysler Phaeton?

The Chronos? Which, btw, totally resembles the front of the 300C

Don't forget about the old Atlantic, the Citadel, 300 HEMI C, the now-forgotten Imperial, Firepower, ME Four-Twelve, Nassau...

The bottom line is that Chrylser, throughout my memory at least, has always made some of the sweetest concept cars to ever grace the floor, and most of them had very, very stylish and classy designs. I love this one too, just like all the others, and I hope this car becomes the new 300C.

I remember the Phaeton, it was in GT2 :D As for the 200C, I like it a lot! If it is replacing the Sebring then that's a brilliant replacement. It looks great.

Any chance that the ability to switch between front and rear drive will mean both the Sebring and 300C will be on this new platform? And maybe we'll get to see a Sebring coupe that's RWD.

Looks like they kept the oddly short rear trunk area. If they would change that, I would like this quite a bit.

I'm not enough of an "expert" on Chrysler stuff to know for sure. We were promised to get a LY evolution of the current RWD LX chassis right around now-ish, and it just has not happened. In theory, yes, it could happen. Apparently GM has been tinkering with the FWD Epsilon-II chassis to make it RWD, and I have no doubt that Chrysler couldn't do the same... But you never know.
