Ladies and gentlemen, for this very special day, the almigthy french star, a legendary car, four-wheels-under-an-umbrella, please welcome the dodoche !
I don't feel like driving fast today. Go figure.
This car is quite a performance taunt, online. I love to go with her on big hp races. If you have online friends, try a 2CV race in parallel of these races. You won't win because you'll laugh too hardly.
In France, she's called "deux chevaux" (two horses) or affectionately nicknamed "deuche" or "dodoche" : 2CV means two fiscal horses which were a fiscal measurement to collect car taxes. Her english nickname is "Tin Snail". Yeah we love snails in France, very clever, blablabla.
The Type A was a hidden prototype from the Germans during France's occupation in WWII (they needed it for Volkswagen) and she was the first commercial 2CV to see the ligth in 1949. There was only one colour at that moment, this is why you can't paint it.
The true hp of this car is in 1949, 9hp.
From 1949 to 1990, Citroën sold 5.114.961 2CV all over the world. There's still competitions for this car. Each year she runs around Spa-Francorchamps during 24 hours.
This car may be the simpliest car of all time. My father, who doesn't know anything about mecanics, changed a chassis bar in an afternoon with my uncle (the chassis have an 'H' shape, with a second horizontal bar in this H). Two men could lift the engine.
In 1959 , the Sahara model, a 4RM acheived 4RM with... Two engines, one front, one rear.
When I was a little boy, my family had one, a Type AZA... I remember being afraid of the car's vibrations at 100km/h !
She can acheive 240 km/h when pushed by a Zonda on the Nürburgring straigth line.
Happy new year !
Any comments, improvements or suggestions are welcome.
