Clarification on the AUP in regards to recent bannings.

Recently, a few GTP members were banned for actions that took place outside the forum. I'm of course referencing two particular members who decided to sign up at a R/C forum to defend GTPlanet. Let me be clear, I'm not defending their actions. What they did was pretty foolish, and didn't get anybody anywhere. But it did leave me a little confused as to how far the AUP reaches outside of the site. Again, I'm not defending these members' actions, nor am I criticizing the moderators' actions; if the moderators felt a month long banning was just, then so be it. I'm just asking for a little clarification.

Thanks,

They were not banned because they went to the R/C forums. Our powers are limited to these forums and these alone. We have no say or influence over anything any registered member says or does once they leave GT Planet.

They were, however, banned for flame-baiting. One of the members posted a thread containing a link to the thread where the R/C forums were attacking GT Planet. The members of the R/C forums had floated the idea of flooding our forums in response to two of their members being banned. Our two members appear to have had something similar in mind.

What they did was no different to someone going into the Forza 3 subforum and posting comments designed to incite a dispute between Forza 3 fans and Gran Turismo 5 fans. It's happened multiple times before, and we've banned people for it. The difference here is that the provocative comments were posted here, and they would have played out on another forum. I'm not entirely sure what our two members had in mind, but I suspect they had visions of a group of GT Planet members going over to the R/C forums and setting them straight. So not only were they flame-baiting, they were recruiting, too.
