CLASS XII ASSOCIATION

mazda110s.jpg

Today I bring you a unique racing club that my mind had the serendipity of stumbling upon in its daily wanderings.
The club is called "Class XII Association" or C12A for short. (Almost Pagani Zonda reference anyone?)

C12A is based around the rarest cars in the used car cycle (so basically the rarest cars in the game), as shown by Famine in his used car cycle thread, here.

There are 7 cars in the historic section of the used car lot, each only appearing just twice in the 100 week used car cycle. There is 1 in the 90s A section, which only appears 3 times, and 4 in 90s B, each appearing less than 10 times in the cycle.

Add those up, and you get 12 super-rare vehicles that define this racing club.

RULES

Sign-up and Car Selection
  1. Download Famine's used car cycle guide to figure out how to obtain the class XII cars (link above).
  2. You may not tune the car selected for each event in any way, save for oil changes in between each race if there are multiple races. Tuning perimeters and tire choices will be specified before each event.
  3. Leave a comment below with your name and how many of the class XII cars you have if you are signing up!
General Race Rules
  • Two wheels should be on the track at all times.
  • Rumble strips are part of the track.
  • Make sure you've saved your best time replay in case I ask for verification.
  • Follow all OLR rules; we want to keep these races clean. Click here for the OLR.

HOW IT'S GONNA WORK

This is how Class XII racing will be run for now:
  • Each competitor should obtain all class XII cars. We will be using all of them at some point. If you cannot obtain them all, pm me prior to the selected car's event.
  • Each week, we will race a different class XII car at a specified place with specified tuning etc.
  • This will be run like a season. Do the math, and that's 12 weeks a season, or 3 months per season. So please be willing to try to commit to a full season!

I think drifting with some of these would be a lot of fun too! Who knows, we may have some events like that! :sly:

Quick way to pass the days so you can get your next class XII car faster!
  1. Go to the license center and choose whichever license you want.
  2. Next, choose a license test. Make the license test at least 7 license tests away from the last license test. Ex: If the last license test on IA is 16, then I can choose 9 and below. (lol, 5 "tests")
  3. As soon as you come to the menu for the license, click the hand pointing right to move on to the next one.
  4. Repeat 7 times.
  5. Each license puts you up a day! One week goes by in one minute!

SEASON 1

Season 1 will mostly in GT Mode. Each week we will have a different car, and tune them a little bit. There may be some twists in the racing style and/or ways of scoring, I don't know... :sly:

ORDER OF CARS
Using Random.org I came up with the order of which cars we will use each week:
  1. Mitsubishi 3000GT MR (J)* '98
  2. Renault 5 Turbo '80
  3. Honda S800 '66
  4. Lancia Delta HF Integrale Evoluzione '91
  5. Peugeot 205 Turbo 16 '85
  6. Nissan Silvia (CPS311) '65
  7. Nissan SilEighty '98
  8. Mazda 110S (L10B) '68
  9. Nissan Silvia 240RS (S100) '83
  10. Nissan Skyline 200GT-R '73
  11. Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sport (C4) '96
  12. Subaru Impreza Coupe 22B-STi '98

*can also be called "Mitsubishi GTO MR"

Starting time?

2 weeks! Sunday, November 27, 2011. This will give you some time to get all of the cars! Races will be every week, so if it starts on Sunday, it'll end on midnight on Saturday (GMT). I'll post up the scores on that Sunday.

I enjoy the plethora of GT4 events but am having trouble participating in them all.

The GT4 Weekly Arcade Time Trial Challenge
GT4 World Hot Hatch Championship
Lotus Elan Gentleman’s Racing Club _ Round 2

I only have so much time. When is this scheduled to start? And it's a shame that it's only open to NTSC users?

"The qualifying rounds basically mean that in order to become part of the actual racing club, you have to qualify. So these first rounds will be qualifiers, testing your skill with the vehicle you chose. So these will mostly be in Time Trial. The top contender from each car category will be admitted into the club!"

With GT4 best days behind. It might be a small club.

I'll put my vote in when I see what cars I have.

Yeah, I totally understand that. I am participating in a couple as well. And I'm not sure. I'm gonna wait until a few people sign up.

It's NTSC only because... oh wait! I had thought that PAL versions didn't have certain cars, but I think they do! :)

Do we run one car for all of us and switch it up during the season or do we race car against car? I'll take the 22B Sti.

I'm 99.99% sure all those cars are in both PAL & NTSC, links to both systems used car lists are stickied in the main GT4 forum so they are easy to find.

A race between a 110S and a 22bsti will be very one sided, so unless two people are driving the same car, they won't really be competing against one another.

Right, yes, I understand that about NTSC and PAL cars now.

And you're right, I guess I figured that we would... well I don't really know what I thought. It sounded awesome, and I thought that there had to be a way I could make this work.

What are my options?

It's still a cool idea, you just need to give it a bit more thought IMO.
My first suggestion would be to make the poll you've got to be for the for the car we all run.
Or competitors obtain all or as many as possible of the cars listed and then we race each one at a time.
Those are just my suggestions it's still up to you to ultimatly decide if/what you want to do.

I like the latter idea! That's actually a really good idea! I'll PM Jordan about editing the poll... I don't think I can.

Oh, and Bopop, tell me how many of the class XII cars you have so I can put you down up there. The rules have been changed.

Interestingly enough, Famine's site is being blocked by my school Macbook's Lightspeed blocking system, and I can't download it onto my Mac. Luckily, I do have it on my home PC, so I'm still in.

Good! You don't really need it anyway, it's just helpful and you can see when the special black cars appear and the 6.2 mile cars.

Just keep passing the weeks and looking for the names of the cars!

I had 1 car when I started a week ago but with over ten million credits. I could get all of the cars if need be. I think we should do it with tuning so that all of the cars can be competitive with each other.

G'Day cedar,
Just saw this and thought I would comment.

Set it up so it starts in say 2 weeks giving everyone time to acquire the 12 Cars needed.

Just pick one Car for everyone to drive each round ( 12 Cars, 12 week series).

There is a reasonable mix of Cars so variety is not a problem, to keep it simple Arcade Mode Time Trials would be best or multi car Races.
If you start getting into adding / tuning parts then it becomes a tuning comp not a pure driving one.
Having said that a mix of Race types is also okay ( GT Mode, Arcade Mode, Drift etc.).
Just my 2 cents, hope it helps !

btw I have all Cars.

Yeah, that's what I was gonna do. Switch up the car each week. Do the math and that's a 3 month season (12 cars, 12 weeks, 3 months).

Yeah, I'm definitely going to mix around the race styles at some point...

Does this mean you're signing up?

Money is not the issue: all of these combined probably doesn't cost more than what you could sell a Toyota Rally Raid RSC car.

The race style that I thought we should use was actually we each have the same car, and then everyone changes to another car next week. But are you saying we should all have our own cars but we tune them to be equal to the car with the greatest HP?

If that be the case, then we'd have to do all of our races in GT Mode.

Yeah, like what viperin said, you pick a car and track combo and then we all have to do that combo, then you switch the car and track every week.

And each car has to be tuned to match everyone else's each week? That's not very practical.

You can leave out drifting. Not only is it a pointless exercise in creating lots of tyre smoke, it's also impossible to judge "online" in GT4.

I become less & less active in the GT4 forum during winter as the snow, and thus snowboarding opportunities arise, however, if you don't mind someone bobbing in and out for the occasional race or time-trial, then I'd be interested.
I've got all the cars ready to go, and for those of you who don't wish to spend time hunting them down, I put up a couple of gamesaves on here a while back which you could use if you've got a GameShark or MAXDrive. (NTSC only.)
Smallhorses' Shared gamesaves.
The first one has all the cars unlocked. 👍

I could have people upload it to youtube, and then have a panel of judges who judge out of 100. And drifting is not pointless.

OK, I'll sign you up! 👍

That's pretty impractical, and not friendly to those who don't have the capability of uploading to YouTube. Not to mention you'd get huge differences in video quality depending on how things are filmed or captured, and the difficulty of finding an independent, unbiased panel of judges.

Oh, and can you cease double or triple-posting here please? You can use the "Edit" button in the bottom right of all your posts to add additional information, especially if it's to one of your posts that's already the last one in a thread.
Also try out the Multiquote feature if you wish to quote more than one post at a time. Have a look in here, under "Quoting" for instructions.

I suppose that's true... I was just saying it could be done. You had said it was "impossible".

OK, thanks for that! :)
