Classic Muscle drag racing tips?

Never mind, I kind of realized that no one in their right mind would give away an insanely fast tune that they worked for. Kinda different than track tuning.

Just to point out, the Jay Leno Oldsmobile is not a muscle car, it's running a C5 Corvette motor, running that in a muscle lobby is like running a Bugatti in a normal lobby.

Oh, ok. Thanks. Any suggestions on a classic muscle car then? I'll tune it, just wondering if there's any reccomendations.

Nova and el camino are the most dragged but are a tad difficult for a begginer and easy car to tune that is quite fast would be a 1970 440 charger or 1970 superbird P.s i can give you tips

Cool. All tips are appreciated, and I definitely want more than one car. I'll probably use the Shelby, a Z/28, the 440, and maybe a GTO. Not sure how the last one would work.

Cool. I just bought the Shelby this morning! What a coincidence. I'll start tuning tomorrow. Any tips?
These cars love Quick Shifts and they also love to have extra room to breathe down the track(top end)....some of them you dont want to be redlining as you cross the finish line 👍

How close to redlining should I be by the end? And by quick shifts, you mean shifting before the redline?

I've also heard of tuning a car to launch in second. BS or real?

For 5 speed muscle cars im not positive but pretty sure you want to use all available gears so no 2nd gear launch
Alright, I was just wondering if it was possible to make a tune like that.

What about suspension setups? Are there any general rules for drag tuning?

The '64 goat is incredibly slow now. It used to be decent but the last update killed it. Mach 1, Cougar, Charger R/T, and Shelby Daytona are some of the fastest now. Shelby Cobra is the fastest of all classics muscle, but some argue it isn't considered muscle.

Suspension is the same as other RWD. High ride height, stiff rear springs, and 0 camber & toe on rear tires.

Thanks for the warning 👍.

Thanks, love the R/T and Cougar. I'll probably run them.

I call that a sports car personally.

High ride height on both? What about the front, or is that unimportant?

The Shelby Cobra was a super car that was designed for racing, it isn't now nor will it ever be a muscle car, it's almost an entire second faster than all the other muscle cars in the game, it runs with the 2009 ZR1 so if the Cobra is a muscle car than so is the ZR1 (which is actually the only Vette to fall under the super car category) and I'm Santa Clause

you can make a competetive 2nd gear launch tune but 1. its harder 2.still not as fast as the best quick shift tune's and 3.not really worth the effort ........as for how far from redline it depends each car is different

What about the ZO6's? I know the new one is called a supercar, but what about the C6 one?

From my knowledge it falls under the sports car category, I'm not sure why seeing as how it's just as fast as the ZR1. I personally don't like Chevy at all so I don't really follow their cars.

i personally like the GTO it is one of the lightest if not the lightest of the muscle cars. it can be tuned to run with muscle pack for sure.what i do is i tune at ssrx start at the line and press pause as the car is passing the 400 mark this will give you the 1/4 mile et within a tenth. this way you can compare your times. i have the gto hitting 9.1 9.2 around 150 mph. seems the muscle cars run between 9.0 to 9.5 in the 1/4 if you drag at indy you might wanna tweek your tune a little being indy is not as long as ssrx also the traction is not as good at indy. im referring to all 60'70's classic muscle. shelby cobra not included.

It would be at indy. That's where all the lobbies are. I'll be starting a tune today. Here's what I have in mind:

Really close gear ratios.
Ride height: Min/max
Springs: Min/Max
Dampers: Min/Max
Camber/toe: 0s all around.

Lsd: No clue .

Should that be a good base?

i like to keep ride height max/max ,camber/toe o's all around. i don't touch spring rate or dampers.

Someone told me stiff springs were good on the rear, so I assumed it would do good on them. I guess the transmission is the most important part.

If you run the GTO against other muscle, you'll notice it doesn't hook up at all anymore. Launches with the '63 Vette or worse. Even with optimum setup it probably won't run down a Nova or GT350.

Okay, so I made a base tune for the Shelby Mustang, and I noticed a few things:

No one ever truly loses. At all. "My hand slipped!" "Hacker!" "You used the e brake!" "No nos please"..... I won about three races (out of maybe eight), and all of them said something similar to that except one, who just rematched me (and won).

Apparently, most people do count the Cobra, cause it was run a lot.

Trash talk is the normal response to winning for most people.

I'm not so sure I like the community, at least the randoms.

thats for sure its very hard to hook up, for that matter most muscle cars have a hard time hooking up.

there are plenty of good people in the community you just need to learn who's who in the rooms.

This happens a lot, those are the people who can't take a loss, granted sometimes people do slip but most of the time that's not the case. As for muscle lobbies that allow the Cobra, those are the noob lobbies because everyone who knows cars knows that the Cobra isn't a muscle car.

The Cobra is a Muscle car just as much as A Veyron is classic.

Not if I can help it!:mischievous:

I think of the Shelby Cobra as more of Exotic Muscle. Kinda like those muscle cars from Australia. Besides, wasn't the Shelby Cobra originally supposed to be something like a British Race Car or is that the AC Cobra (Is there really any difference?).
