CLK GTR/DTM/whatever and Greatest Hits question

Before anyone asks, yes, I do have a GameShark; it was the last edition released for the original PSX (can't remember version number).

However, I haven't seen anything about codes for the GH version, which I have. Did PD actually remove it from the GH or am I just entering the wrong codes?

I believe NTSC version 1.2 is the greatest hits version, so try using codes from 1.2.

When I go into the code list with GT2 on my GS, however, four versions pop up; the glitched 1.0 (and I remember having this because the intro was different than subsequent releases) 1.1, 1.2, and the GH version. I tried entering the codes in both and starting the game, but the most I got was a slight graphical error. It didn't show up in any lot or my garage. I'll try again and see what happens.

You're probably putting the codes in in the wrong way, or maybe using the wrong codes altogether.

Have you used a code to buy cars in the car lot before?

Ok. First of all, here's a link: http://www.formulanone.org/gt2/codes/buy-any-car.htm

That link contains everything you need, including where to find the all-important body codes and how to use them. If you can't get it to work right the first time, change it up a little and try something else.

Just a note about using codes like this: Once you get it to do what you want, buy the car you want, save your game, and reset the console. Anything that makes such big changes may cause other changes or glitches that you don't expect, if you leave the codes on. That goes for pretty much anything beyond the usual money codes.

Alright, according to my GS disk, I'm using Version 4.1, and that's more than good enough... but I tried the last codes under the 1.2 column for the CLK and jack squat came up on the Toyota lot. I got the same graphical error but the cars were all still the same, prices and everything. There was no unnamed car or "invisible" space, nothing.

What is this graphical error you're talking about?

I'm almost 100% certain the problem is a mistake when you were typing the codes in. If not that, then you're somehow using the wrong codes altogether or codes for the wrong version.

I know for a fact that 1.2 works with the Greatest Hits version; I built hybrids for years using that combination.

Like sometimes I'll see part of the manufacturer's banner on the car menu screen, or when I go and select a car, I'll see part of the menu behind everything else.

I mean, when I boot up my GS and select GT2, there are four versions -1.0, 1.1, 1.2, and the GH version. I mean I've gone into the 1.2 and GH versions and started the game with either, but nothing happened. I actually found a site with different (updated?) codes and used those instead, and all I got was a 0 credit Lexus GS400 which froze my game. I entered the codes under version 1.2, so maybe I should try the GH version.

The fact that you got it to load a zero credit lexus shows that that was the right version; you just entered the car codes incorrectly.
