I feel bad too dude.. esp now knowing how much time and effort you put into it. As a comparison to the original I can't really fault it and "obscurity" did not play a part in it not making the poll.
My main reasoning to my decision was the end result did'nt say to me on first impression "Wow .. look at that record/CD cover" because it does'nt look like one IMHO, just a photoshopped image (no dis-respect because it is a good one).... . Kinda why I tried to impress one of the initial rules of including some indication of artist/title although I accepted in the end as a valid entry, even though most entrants re-created existing covers I indicated in the OP "interpretation" so even a completely original take would have been acceptable.
I tried to stay as impartial as I could during the competition while knowing no-one was restricted to the boundaries of just one change only as in the other comps.
On seeing the final 12 you may see what I was looking for and I hope this goes some way to explaining my decision.

lolwut, are people voting according to favourite artists? I haven't heard of any of these artists on the poll except one and even then, I haven't heard that particular band's songs. (And no its not Lindsay Lohan FFS).

Yes it was a fine one and I enjoyed it. The "Judge's Choice" – this is very conciliable, as my album "Broken English" which is a broken dream also, did not gather a single public vote.
