This week's theme in detail, brought to you by... Shaft (hush yo mouth):

"Time to pull those cameras back a bit away from the action. Open up those wide lenses and capture the wide and varied scenery and beautiful landscapes. Anywhere you like from the Moutains of Matterhorn and Eiger, the rolling hills around Ascari and Spa to the open and sparse horizons of Big Willow and SSRX, you can go for big skies or wide open spaces, sunset/rise or high noon. Dawn to dusk basically. Anywhere apart from the City tracks will do fine and a car or cars can be included but must not be the main focus."

CARS: Any or none
LOCATIONS: Any track (excluding any City, Kart Space and GT Arena)
PHOTOTRAVEL: Yes
UNIQUE RESTRICTIONS: As above and no night time shots, oh and stick to Landscape orientation

@Nato_777 Is there no other way we can vote? Eg. 3 points to fav, 2 point to 2nd and 1 point to 3rd?
To have an F1 scoring system would have been so cool - (Sorry I know it will be more work for you blokes to tally the scores)
No harm in asking right? 👍 :D

@SlipZtrEm Please, Can we not have one set of Rules (regarding amount of images per poll in each competition?) :odd:
Maybe we should all vote - TOP 30 Images to go into the poll?

2.0
  • Poll consists of the Judge's favourite 15 images. For H2H weeks, 8 per poll. - (please fix to show 20 images or is it suppose to be 15?)
  • Winner gets to choose the following week's theme, as well as the Top 20. Every fourth
week, the poll will be H2H style: entries must choose a "team", leading to two 10-picture,
4-day polls. The winners from each faces off in a final 48 hour poll.
PMC
  • Winner gets to choose the following week's theme, as well as the Top 30. Every fourth
week, the poll will be H2H style: entries must choose a "team", leading to two 15-picture,
4-day polls. The winners from each faces off in a final 48 hour poll.
CCCL
  • Winner gets to choose the following week's theme, as well as the Top 15.
Secret Santa
  • Winner gets to choose the following week's theme, as well as the Top 15.

I would love to have a voting system where you could assign a number of points to a vote - as you say 3 for your first choice 2 for 2nd and 1 for third. Ultimately I'd like each voter to have x number of votes they could distribute how they saw fit. Lets say 6 points; you could give all 6 to a single entry if you thought it really stood out, 3 points each to the two you though where equally the best, or any other combination; 3,2,1; 2,2,2, etc... This would give ultimate flexibility in voting but there just is no easy way to do so.

Poll numbers for the various competitions were set for each according to the number of entries each were regularly getting. PMC and 2.0 attracted the most entries so their poll limits are set higher than CCCL and Secret Santa.
These could possibly be reassessed as numbers are generally lower than they were in the GT5 days and the limits are not often reached. It could be a case of lowering them so the judges get to choose their top XX entries or removing them altogether as at the moment they are almost redundant.
One of the challenges used to be in making it into the poll in the first place - that aspect is almost gone currently. Personally I like that challenge - it pushes you to put your best foot forward each time.
At the end of the day it is something that @SlipZtrEm and I should probably discuss but I'm interested to hear opinions from the wider photomode community. However this thread isn't the best place for that so I think this thread would better serve that purpose for now.

I agreed with everything you've said but this is, for me at least, the most important. I like to see a good poll and not a big poll with a lot of shots. The point of having a limit to poll entries is for people to work hard to be there. If everyone gets to the poll, soon the quality will be compromised. I know we have great photomoders arround, but the more we push ourselves the better we can get. :)

Thank you Nathan

Great photos guys - nice poll. I hope everyone who votes takes the time to click on the photos first, especially on a theme like this where the landscape shots are broad. It gives you a better sense of all the work that went into some of these entries and really amplifies issues (good and bad) that you might miss if looking at only the snapshot. 👍

Congrats George - was never any doubt you would win this one. 👍

Thanks guys. It feels like ages since I've had a win, pretty happy with this one for sure. Plenty of worthy winners in this poll, so it's an honor to come out victorious.

Thanks to all the voters.

Hmm, now to come with a theme. ???

I could play in the open field you created forever. Congratulations Kid!👍
