One of the things to keep in mind when taking these photos is to understand what the judge is specifically looking for. In this case, curvy roads and corners. While yours is an excellent shot, I dont see a corner, so the judge went with other photos of similar quality that had both the car and corners in. Thats what Im assuming anyways...

Right, I should haven taken a photo in a dark tunnel instead where you can only see the cars headlights.

Like Jason~Bourne said, it didn't show me any part of the track and I had mentioned it earlier in the thread. Besides the jagged edges alone would have counted against you if your pic was eligible.

Well, I guess if you chose a different angle (for example from the front of the car), it would cut out the scenery and have more of the track and car. Maybe if you had experimented with the zooming a bit more. I didn't particularly feel the composition of this one ...

I'm sorry you feel that way, but like someone pointed out, the signs do get in the way. You were probably going for a certain effect but some other entries captured the theme better in my opinion.

I know, but the last pic captured two things well, the curve and a nice little tidbit with the 'Nurburg' written below the stands. The blur on the car didn't distract like blurred cars usually do.

Your pic was nice (and a standard car to boot), but it's a little dull and similar to ivoyared's. Like I said above, there were just some better pics in the mix.

I'm quite happy that I made it!! Changed my entry on the last minute from straight to curves and I'm glad that I did.
Not that I'm going to win with the blurry Golf but I'm glad the the judge picked it

Thanks. I was very surprised with the result as anyone would and I really would like to be able to edit some of my other pictures to get it to look like that, but I have no clue on how.

I know the normal polls end on the Sunday or Monday depending on what time zone you are in but when do H2H poll styles end. I am referring to this stage of the poll.

I actually liked your earlier shot of the cobra better than this one (and that one showed barely any of the curve so it was touch and go anyway). All I can say is that this is a good picture where the car and lighting looks good but as you pointed out it didn't make it because of not showing the curve enough. I can only point out the golf that's just exiting the karussel. The member managed to get a close up of the car but also left space to show the karussel curve in the background.

So it was all down to how well you captured the theme.
