Clueless about how to qualify!

People are so clueless about how to do a qualifying session! So many have obviously never watched a qualifying session from any real racing series.
Everybody rushing out of the pits at once, driving the out lap like a race lap, bumper-to-bumper or worse side-by-side.... zero attempts at leaving decent gaps to be able to put in clean lap. Out of the 20 cars, maybe 3 or 4 seem to know what they're doing.

Yes I was telling my girlfriend the same yesterday evening. Luckily I could qualify in 3rd place at brandshatch

Its quite annoying to be blocked by someone who just re-entered the track while they're going 30-40 MPH slower. Its almost like they think its a race and they have to be the first place car in track position...

Had a top 3 qualify run ruined by this last night, ended up in 8th, still got 4th place in the race though

It doesn't bother me too much. Almost everyone leaves right away and I wait about 30 seconds to leave the pits and have an open course to qualify

Still even if everyone would actually search for a gap. The matchmaking is still a problem. When DR A and D are matched together you gonna have problems with the A guy being like 6~10 seconds faster or more then some D's. Especially on some shorter tracks. You need a really big gap to account for that. Which could be a problem with 19 others.

The SR being the god code for matchmaking is hurting the game, especially with how easy that rank is to decrease/increase. Driver rank+lap time in dailies and DR in FIA should take priority.

As for the OP, yes yes yes I was shocked at the contact, closeness and moronicness of the drivers during qualifying, was stupid.

That's all on them for being eager and not having that "racing brain".

I did the Gr.3 race at Suzuka on Saturday night and was the last out of the garage for Qualifying, had about a kilometre either side of me of clean air. I wasn't very quick but the clean lap put me in 7th place, and I was fighting for 4th throught the race itself.

If I ran out when the session started I may have qualified much lower down.

Anyone who has watched 1 Formula 1 qualifying session knows what to do.

In my Manufacturer's Cup last night, I and around 5-6 other drivers let the others go out and then left the pits late, drove a very slow Sector 3 and all had gaps of 5ish seconds between us.

I like the idea of qualifying with everyone on track because it makes it feel more like real motor racing. While starting pit lane is much more realistic, it's clear that a large portion of the players don't understand how to leave proper gaps. Maybe qualifying could use a rolling start with 5 sec gaps in future events.
