if you have a wheel, you can use a clutch(Well it's very simular to a clutch, its mainly hitting the emergency brake while you shift up, by doing this you get a clutch like realistic gear change, On turbo cars, your boost guage will still stay at maximum PSI and never move, so the car becomes a non spooling machine, Do not try this in a FWD car as you will achieve nothing but a screech. And one of the most wonderful things you will find out, say your driving a stock BMW M5 instead of it going from 1000 to 9000 and back to 6000 when you shift, it goes from 1000, 9000 to 7000, it stays in the power band, and sounds like a clutch in real life, you even get a back fire every time you do it correctly. I shaved a full four seconds off my lap time using this,

heres how you do it, just set up your wheel in the options menu, instead of (O)"circle" being your e brake, make it so that (^)directional pad "UP" is the ebrake, this acts as the quick clutch, tap it once as you shift, you have to do it right at the moment you shift, if you dont your boost gauge will drop, and you will get a unrealist gear change, Its really fun and usefull when you get use to it. If you have any questions please ask. thank you.

To test if it works,
Go to arcade mode, choose a powerful turbo RWD or AWD car.
Use the (Clutch like button) and notice that when you shift while on the accelerator, the boost guage does not drop, but if you lift your foot and shift, it will drop.

I don't have a wheel, but back when I was playing GT3, I would push my e-brake button (L2) between upshifts, which truely disengages the clutch, even tho it's not supposed to. For FWD cars, I'd push triangle (reverse) to make this happen.

If you do it right, it actually does feel like a clutch disengaging. And if you do it wrong (fingers get clumsy) it almost seems like the driver has missed the upshift. When watching the replay, the car starts to sound all confused and stuff.

GT4's handbrake doesn't disengage the clutch as smoothly as GT3's, not without STOMPING on the handbrake button more forcefully, so I don't do this anymore. It's cool to see someone else is trying to simulate this, tho.

You don't even need to do that. If you takeoff with a low percentage of throttle, it will take off like you are trying to slip the clutch off the line. This works when you don't have TCS on your car when you are taking off from standstill (I do this when I'm doing the final performance numbers with the GME cars!). I'll make a video and show how it works in the near future. 👍

I could not reproduce this on a controller for some reason.

It doesn't work very well in GT4. If you have GT3, try that game instead. I found if I screwed up the DS2 buttons, it actually felt like a clutch slipping. The car loses speed and stuff while it tries to get in gear. But if I got those buttons tapped more smoothly, it feels like a clutch disengaging and then re-engaging without a hitch. Here's my button sequence:

^R3 (throttle) > L2 (handbrake) > R1 (upshift)

For front-drives, it's like this:

^R3 (throttle) triangle (reverse) > R1 (upshift)

It should work even if your button sequence is different.
