Co-driver always in rally cars ?

Hey guy,

I'm a newbie to this forum, and I believe that the correct etiquette is to begin by saying 'hi'... so "Hello!"

I've been a GT fan for quite some time now, and I have also been a frequent visitor of this site, but have never sought after the time to become a member... so finally here I am, haha 👍:)

Anyway, to the point of this thread... I have just made an observation, which I do not know if anyone else has made, and I apologize if they have done and have subsequently written their own thread on it. Recently, I was reading one of the threads, in this forum, which was asking about whether co-drivers will always be present in rally cars, even if the car is not being driven on a rally circuit... seeming the co-driver will be attached to the car... you buy a rally car and you get a co-driver thrown in for the price.

Do my eyes decieve me, or is there actually a person sitting there? And, how much of an input will they have, especially in rally races... will they verbally provide directions and information?

(Sorry if this post seems a tad pointless!)

Great find, no one else noticed that co-driver. ;)

No, seriously. I think it's odd that the co-driver is always there, even if it's not a rally course, but it's been that way in the previous GTs as well, so I guess I have to live with that. However, it would be cool if he was giving you directions during rally stages, but I doubt it'll happen.

Welcome to GTP btw!

EDIT: Oh, and the driver you marked in that screen is the driver, just in case you didn't know. :)

He'll definitely always be there. GTHD had the co-driver and I think GT3 and GT4 did as well even though you could only see his shadow.

lol I now see your picture. You've circled the actual driver. The one whose door is ripped off in that pic is the co-driver.

lol I didn't even think of that... I wonder if he will count towards the weight... Hopefully not since he will be an absolutely useless dude just sitting there.

I did notice that first and was wondering how come the steering is on left in the cockpit view and I thought the driver is on the right in the damage video but then I realize that its the co-driver and asked to close the thread because I thought everybody will know it but I am surprised now .

Anyway welcome to gtplanet.

Good news, hopefully that means they will have pace notes as well then (oops straying a bit to near to wishlisting...)

As for the driver/codriver thing, I thought GT games have Japanese cars as RHD, so wouldnt the Impreza be RHD?

The WRC Impreza is left hand drive. So they remade it as it is in real life.

EDIT, Oh, well what he said above me too :)

Well, if WRC is in, we need someone to tell us not to drive off that cliff, don't we?

just remember that these are official licences which to me means that they will have input from those sports in making the game. I should think that they could record a man saying "left 2" a few times :sly: but then again i don't think i have ever heard voices in a gt game so perhaps not.

I can see the situation now.

You :What's after this jump?
Translator: Hold on, i'm playing sudoku

hahaha yeah right! But the co-driver is not what I call realistic. He doesn't say something and costs you a couple of hundred pounds indeed.:dopey:

Now if you want full Rally-Copilot interaction.....
Have it so a co-op partner that is in the room with you(maybe even over PSN), be able to navigate with you using the PSP as a map guide. Then they can relay information to you like turns, speeds, times, opponent times/locations.

Lol that pic is amazing! :P but I really do hope that there is a co-driver in every race, makes the game just a tad more realistic

The prologue had different languages for the menus. It doesn't matter when the co-driver speaks English, but the Japanese want a Japanese voice German want a German one etc.
