I got the go ahead from the wife.

What I'm thinking about at this point is:

G27 wheel
Corbeau chair (http://www.gamechairs.com/Corbeau-20007-CRB1101.html)
and building the rest by hand.

So this is about 800 bucks of wheel/chair plus construction costs, likely another 200 or so.

All the pre-made cockpits like VisionRacer and the Sparco cockpit seem to be (by the state of their sites) going down. The Playseat has what looks like an uncomfortable chair.

I'm most concerned about getting the best ass rest possible. I want to drive for hours.

Do you guys have any recommendations about seats/pre-made/etc...?

Thanks,
Skymeat

Congrats on the WAF! :P

That said, I think you'd have better results if this thread was moved to the Cockpits section.

Good luck on the build! 👍

That's an awesome thread. I love the build...But that is not passing the WAF for sure. My first idea was taking the dash out of my defunct Passat....Nope.

I'm thinking about using a rowing machine frame for the base....Haven't seen that done yet.

Hey mr meat,
500 bucks for a vinyl chair????
Have you considered looking for a second hand seat out of a vehicle dismantlers.

I got 2 fully electric leather seats as new, out of a saab for £40, about 60 bucks .

They look real nice, supremely comfortable.
Bought second seat for spare motors.

I've never seen the point of using a bucket seat unless your going to lash out over 2k for some form of moving system.
jmo but the 400 bucks you save on the seat could either pay for a dedicated tv for the rig or a dedicated huband to take his wife away for a nice weekend, or just send her away and turn up the 5.1 and drive

hey guys if your looking for a inexpensive seat to start out with when building your cockpit go to www.procarbyscat.com they have a varity of seats that work great. I used their seat on my cockpit and i think the seat was like $180.00 new. I built my simulator for about $300.00 plus steering wheel. I'll post pics soon

that's an awesome Idea, and what if they were electric, and heated!! that would be sick!!.

I have always found toyota land cruiser the north american model no is UZJ100 or 100 series land cruiser/ prado is like the lexus version with leather etc best seat s EVER, We put them in our old school RX4's etc cause the hold you but are amazing leather as well.
chairs to be the most comfy, they are from a 4WD /off roader car so they have to be hugging and comfy.
or go for a WRX type seat if u want a race look, but you wont like being in it for more then a hour or so. go with comfort, you don't need some racing seat, just because a game your playing has race cars. sure that would add to the look and feel, but I am going to go comfort with this one. some licenses take 1 hour to do just 1. So think of the time you will spend in it is more important

Here's what I've just done:

Using my Wheelstand Pro with a home-made plinth for my seat.
WSP - approx £100
Seat - £37 off Ebay
Wood - approx £10

This is experimental. When I'm happy with all the measurements I'll make the seat support from steel box section or aluminium.
