Cocotaxis are a rather peculiar means of transportation that can be found in some cities in Cuba. Introduced in the 90s, these vehicles are Auto-Ricksaw type taxis, equipped with 3 seats, which can transport 2 to 3 passengers, covered under a spherical fiberglass shell painted yellow, completely open at the front.
These cars have a small 100 cc two-stroke engine, which is quite useful when climbing hills. Although Cocotaxis may not be very fast, they are still a unique way to get around the city.. There are two types of cocotaxis, the yellow ones are used by tourists, while the black ones are used by residents in Cuba.
