For the first time, I'll try to cover more college baseball and softball. I sometimes watch college baseball once the basketball is over. Either that or if I'm watching my Houston Astros (Lord help them!) and decide to watch some other team go at it. This is another limited contribution thread for me. I'll cover some college baseball and softball matches on GTPlanet. I want you baseball and softball fans to show some love for your beloved programs.

I'll key in every now and then when the season starts up. So it's up to you to help keep this deal going by showing some love for your beloved colleges and universities.

I seen a few innings of college baseball last night. I saw parts of Rice at Texas on ESPNU, and Baylor at Texas Christian on CBS College Sports (formerly CSTV). Yeah, an all-Texas day of college baseball. I hear Texas is still renovating their ball park and facilities. Their club house and everything look great.

Keep in mind that you all are free to chat college baseball and softball in this thread. So keep 'em coming!

Sorry but neither the University of Colorado or Colorado State have baseball programs. But they did use that money to have women's soccer, tennis or what ever the heck they needed to make the funding equal for men and women. :irked:👎

How about I keep you updated on my little league team that I coach?

I guess make a new thread on your league team. Either that, or feel free to chat any level of college baseball or softball in this thread. Thanks for your cooperation, UnoMOTO.

This is just a note to you all. If I do cover games in this thread, here are two formats I will use:

* QUICK SCORE: (winner runs-loser runs (, Extra Innings or Shortened game); WINNING TEAM HOME/Winning Team Away)
* EXTENDED SCORE: Winner Runs/Winner Hits/Winner Errors-Loser Runs/Loser Hits/Loser Errors (, extra innings or shortened game); WINNING TEAM HOME/Winning Team Away)

I do have one game to report, and it's a FoolKiller special. Kentucky beat Western Kentucky 7-4. I think they only have four losses so far. They'll meet Mississippi State sometime soon. On April 8th, Louisville and Kentucky go at it on the baseball diamond. Not sure what kind of baseball team Louisville has, but Kentucky's ready to take Louisville deep with some long balls.

I'll periodically make college baseball updates. So I hope you have a great day.

During CBS College Sports' coverage of "College Sports Tonight," the end game that was shown was a thrilling match between Louisville at Kentucky. Kentucky is the ninth-ranked team in the land as this game was shown on the Big Blue Sports Network. When I saw the game in the top of the eighth, Kentucky was leading 6-4. But it wasn't until Louisville belted out a two-run jack to even things up. The game had to go to extra innings. And when it did go to extras, Louisville hit a home run to deliver the knockout blow. Kentucky took Louisville deep to end any hope of an upset in the Battle for the Bluegrass.

Louisville: 6 - 12 - 1
#9 KENTUCKY: 7 - 15 - 2

Now that college basketball is done, college baseball and softball could be my place of doing regular updates. I invite you to come along to chat college baseball and softball.

Good news for all of you college baseball fans... the NCAA and the City of Omaha have agreed to keep the College World Series at lovely Rosenblatt Stadium all the way until at least 2030. That's GREAT news because Rosenblatt Stadium is absolutely lovely and really the spiritual home of college baseball.

Action on CBS College Sports tonight will show off two WCC schools as the University of San Diego take on Pepperdine University. This is a baseball game taking place in beautiful Malibu, California.

My Houston Lady Cougars are not going to the College Softball World Series as Louisiana-Lafayette handed my Lady Coogs. They still had a great season nonetheless. The Baseball Tournament is going to happen pretty soon.

The men's baseball tournament kicks off this weekend. Johns Hopkins took Division 3 honors by snapping the 44-game winning streak Trinity (of Connecticut) had. It's very tough to win a long mess of games in baseball, but they did their part to win all of those games.

All three of my local NCAA universities (Houston, Rice, and Texas Southern) made the tournament. Rice (who I think will go furthest) gets Texas A&M, Houston gets Division 1 independents Dallas Baptist, and Texas Southern gets (gulp!) Louisiana State (LSU).

Here are the other brackets (Adobe Reader required): http://ncaa.com/uploadedFiles/Sports/Baseball/Articles/Division_I/2008MCWS64-teamBracket.pdf

Some of the notables in this year's tourney include the following:
* Missouri
* California-Irvine
* Charlotte
* Western Kentucky and Kentucky (FoolKiller country)
* Michigan (Joey D country)
* Dallas Baptist <<< NCAA Div. 1 Independent
* Wichita State
* Oral Roberts
* North Carolina
* California State-Fullerton
* San Diego (Sage country)
* Miami (36th-straight tournament appearance)
* Florida State (31st-straight tournament appearance)
* Texas
* LSU and New Orleans (Kent country)

Good luck to all the teams. I hope your favorite school got into this year's tournament for a chance to play at beautiful Rosenblatt Stadium in Omaha, Nebraska; usually home to the Blue Jays of Creighton University. All games are double elimination for what I know. It's a bit strange that an Independent gets entered into a tournament. This would NEVER happen in college basketball in which you have to be in a conference to qualify for a tournament. That even includes when Texas A&M-Corpus Christi had consecutive 20-win seasons before accepting a bid to the Southland Conference. Good luck to all 64 teams in this year's college baseball tournament. I'm not going to religiously cover the tournament, so I welcome your input.

If you haven't heard from last week, the Fresno State Bulldogs picked up their first National Championship in any men's sport. This would be the "Bulldog Bowl" if this was football, but Fresno State beat down the Bulldogs of the SEC's University of Georgia. Beautiful Rosenblatt Stadium was the College World Series arena for this best-of-3 National Championship tournament. Fresno State came in as a #4 seed and took down Georgia. It took three games, but the Bulldogs of Fresno State won it all. California is a pretty good college baseball state with solid talent. You got schools like Stanford, Santa Clara, California-Irvine, California State-Fullerton, Long Beach State, USCal, UCLA, San Diego, and schools like that. Congrats to Fresno State.
