GTPlanet, because of sickness and needing rest, I was unable to give out Monday or Sunday scores. Thanks for bearing with me.

LAST WEEK...
* Three unbeatens... and all three fell. It felt about as bad as last year or so in college football in which all three Florida powers (Florida, Florida State, and Miami) all fell in their games. Duke, Florida, and Pittsburgh all went down to Georgetown, Tennessee, and St. John's respectively. All teams will look to rebound after these devastating losses. * The University of Houston played at Alabama-Birmingham this past Saturday. Controversy brewed as Tom Penders (Houston; Men's hoops coach) fainted on the sidelines after getting a Technical Foul. It looked so scary, but he was okay. The curly-haired 60-year old returned to the sidelines as Houston sadly lost by three. * How about those Kentucky kittens? The Wildcats were able to turn the South Carolina Gamecocks into fresh poultry. It was close too, winning by a lay up. * Wisconsin is one of the best basketball schools, not to mention their solid football team. So if they're so good, losing to North Dakota State had to be a true disappointment. Wisconsin should have OWN3D ND State, but credit the Bison for taming the Badgers. * Special congratulations to Pat Summit, the women's coach of the Tennessee Lady Volunteers. She got win #900 last week, and will have a date with #2 Duke later this week.

Let's begin the week with a few scores from around the nation.

SUNDAY SAMPLER, MEN

MONDAY'S GAMES
Because I was sick over the weekend, I had to get some rest than try to come up with scores. Every score is going to be RAPID FIRE, in which I provide which teams played, the scores, and who won. If I don't have scores, I'll let you know who won. Having said this, get your Kevlar vests, because it's time for some Rapid Fire action!

More to come, GTP! I know I'm very behind, but I'm trying to catch up after needing rest from being sick.

TUESDAY'S GAMES
I've been sick, haven't had the chance to update so... let's cut to the chase! I'll debut some of my notes about games, if I have any specific comments.

MEN'S DIVISION

---RAPID FIRE---
* Kentucky at Auburn (71-62; Kentucky)
JOHN'S NOTE: If this were football, Auburn would be favored by at least two touchdowns. Thankfully, the Lexington boys got her done on the road and on the hardwood.

* #13 Indiana at Iowa (73-60 IOWA)
JOHN'S NOTE: Is Iowa for real?

* #21 Georgetown at Notre Dame (85-82, 2OT; Georgetown)
JOHN'S NOTE: Georgetown knocks off Duke on Saturday, then takes down Notre Dame. Any more impressive, they'll be as impressive as the Georgetown teams of the mid-1980s.

* Fairfield at Loyola College (80-72; Fairfield)
* Akron at Ohio (66-63; OHIO)
* #6 Villanova at South Florida (49-46; Villanova)
* Oral Roberts at Western Illiois (70-65; WESTERN ILLINOIS)

* Florida State at Wake Forest (75-68; Florida State)
JOHN'S NOTE: Wake Forest used to be good... now look at them. What's up with the Winston-Salem boys?

* Mercer at Stetson (62-61, OT; Mercer)
* SMU at Texas Pan-American (84-54; Southern Methodist)
* Coastal Carolina at Winthrop (64-57; Coastal Carolina)
* Idaho at North Dakota State (71-64; NORTH DAKOTA STATE)
* Toledo at Northern Illinois (67-66; Toledo)

WOMEN'S DIVISION

---RAPID FIRE---
* South Florida at #5 Connecticut (77-47; CONNECTICUT)
* Texas A&M at Colorado (55-46; Texas A&M)
* #21 Notre Dame at #10 Rutgers (69-43; RUTGERS)
* American at Navy (70-60; NAVY)
* Pennsylvania at La Salle (67-49; LA SALLE)
* Vermont at Binghampton (67-50; BINGHAMPTON)

Alright, more games this week. I'll have them and then some.

SATURDAY'S GAMES
GTPlanet, I really apologize for this week. I've been sick almost all week, not to mention lazy getting scores in. Well, this Saturday, I refuse to go down and blow the most important day of the week for college basketball- Saturday. If you want to criticize me for not getting things done like usual, now it's time I redeem myself. So if you can dig that player, let's do Saturday hoops! As far as other sports go, the Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona may be the big sport on this weekend, but we have our own 24/7 love of college hoops.

MEN'S DIVISION
Let's do 'da damn thing! For the men, some sad news. No Kentucky today. They will, however, play on Sunday against Arkansas, so you'll know that I'll highlight that game first in my next Sunday Sampler for next week. Okay, you want Men's hoops? Take a look below!

"Not For Football Anymore..." #(top 10) Texas at #25 Oklahoma
It's a no-brainer that Texas and Oklahoma simply DO NOT like each other. There is no Vince Young, this is not football. There is a playoff system, so only as long as you are constantly losing, you can still make the postseason. The girdiron boys are prepping for August, but the Longhorns are all ready to go for hardwood action. So are the Sooners. You see, this Austin/Norman rivalry has been around for many years, and is basically the Michigan/Ohio State of the south. I like Texas, but considering how unpredictable college basketball is, I thought this would be an upset... and I was right. (-; OKLAHOMA) *upset!*

* Marquette at #10 Pittsburgh
It's a bit over a 400 mile distance between Milwaukee and Pittsburgh. Milwaukee, WI is home to the religious-type university (Jesuit?) known as Marquette University. The Golden Eagles are turning out to be a big sleeper in the Big East. Their debut in the Big East superconference has them looking for a little Milwaukee magic in the Steel City. There's no Ben Roethlisberger, but the Panthers are every bit as intimidating on the basketball court as Marquette is. (-; OKLAHOMA)

"Michigan Impossible" Wisconsin at Michigan ---RIVALRY GAME---
Three unbeatens fell last Saturday, all on the road. That was bad. Wisconsin loses to North Dakota State at home. That was REALLY bad. The dejected Badgers woke up from their living nightmare and will play on the road against Michigan. (-; )

* #16 Ohio State at Iowa
Hawkeyes get the upset of the Ohio State Buckeyes. (67-62; IOWA)

* Arizona at North Carolina
North Carolina holds strong as the Tar Heels didn't get clawed up by those Wildcats from the desert. (86-69; NORTH CAROLINA)

* Kansas at Iowa State
Kansas' Jayhawks get a sweet win on the road. They survived the biggest natural disaster in college basketball- Cyclones. (95-85, OT; Kansas)

* Marshall at Houston
Marshall's Thundering Herd upset in-state opponent West Virginia, and look to give Houston reason to be scared. Houston's Cougars were scared all right... scared of what they just did to Marshall. (-; HOUSTON)

* Allen nat Savannah State
(71-61; Allen)

***** This has been a bad week for me posting scores. I fell asleep trying to put in scores, so here's rapid fire. I feel better, so hopefully I won't have the same problems for the new week.

---Rapid Fire---
* Vanderbilt at Florida (81-58; FLORIDA)
* Cincinatti at Georgetown (76-57; GEORGETOWN)
* Wisconsin-Green Bay at Illinois-Chicago (81-68; ILLINOIS-CHICAGO)
* High Point at North Carolina-Asheville (64-45; High Point)
* Wagner at Long Island (75-65; LONG ISLAND)
* New Orleans at Western Kentucky (72-57; WESTERN KENTUCKY)
* UCF at Memphis (94-61; MEMPHIS)
* Dayton at Xavoer (60-55; XAVIER)
* Stetson at East Tennessee State (74-71; Stetson)
* Detroit at Loyola UC (68-63; LOYOLA UNIVERSITY OF CHICAGO)
* UCLA at Oregon State (63-54; California-Los Angeles)

WOMEN'S DIVISION
