Ho ho ho! We're on the road to Christmas boys and girls. Have you been nice? Or have you been naughty little children? Well, get ready for some nice offense by these college ballers... and let's not forget some very naughty slam dunks. You digging me, GTPlanet? Then let's do another week of college hoops!

LAST WEEK...
Heartbreak in Lexington! For one thing, Louisville was ranked as high as #4, and got their asses handed to by Kentucky. It was a huge upset in the VERY LOUD Rupp Arena for these two rivals and this rivalry game. * Houston seen heartbreak of their own, losing by four to South Alabama of the Sun Belt. Houston still has a chance to get back on the ranked side and perhaps show signs of the great phi slamma jamma of the 1980s. Of course, for 2005-2006 Houston to come close or surpass phi slamma jamma, they'll need to make their way to the Final Four, and maybe even win the title. Houston's won national championship honors in golf... so why not in a major sport, Cougars? * Texas lost two straight, and in big margins. First they Longhorns came up very short against Duke, but also to unbeaten Tennessee at home. Can they rebound? I believe they have Texas State next, so they'd better get it done, or they're going to have trouble making it to the Big Dance.

Hope you bought plates, silverware, and napkins because here comes your...

SUNDAY SAMPLER

MEN'S DIVISION:
* Texas Southern at Boston College (80-53; BOSTON COLLEGE)
* La Salle at Central Connecticut State (107-106, 4OT; La Salle)
* New Hampshire at Connecticut (86-44; CONNECTICUT)
* Valparaiso at Duke (104-74; DUKE)

WOMEN'S DIVISION:
* Boston University at Boston College (66-49; BOSTON COLLEGE)
* Old Dominion at North Carolina-Charlotte (79-69; Old Dominion)
* Montana at Gonzaga (72-60; Montana)
* #15 Oklahoma at Illinois (86-75; ILLINOIS)

Let's do this week.

MONDAY'S GAMES

GTPlanet, let's do Monday! You down? Cool.

MEN'S DIVISION
* Clemson at Puerto Rico-Mayaguez
GTPlanet, I'd like to begin this swing of games by introducing you to that little island called Puerto Rico. Pureto Rico is home to four different universities playing in Division 2 college basketball. These Independents include Puerto Rico-Cayey, Puerto Rico-Rio Pierdas, Puerto Rico-Bayamon, and Puerto Rico-Mayaguez. The Puerto Rico-Mayaguez. Now for a team we all know pretty well. Clemson represents one of the ACC's biggest talents. Death Valley is indoors, but still can be tough to play. The Puerto Rican boys met Clemson's Tigers. And... it wasn't very friendly as a blowout came about. Puerto Rico-Mayaguez is now 2-4 or 2-5 after this. (101-60; Clemson)

* Mount St. Mary at Akron
The Akron Zips zipped past the Mount St. Mary Mount.
(74-61; AKRON)

* Sam Houston State at #24 Arizona
The Wildcats from the desert took down the Texas unit, the Sam Houston State Bearkats. (87-51; ARIZONA)

* Pepperdine at Kansas
If Kansas was in rare form I'd say that Pepperdine wouldn't stand a chance. After some disappointing losses earlier this season, the Jayhawk nation is on the ropes at 4-4. There may be salvation as they play the losing Pepperdine squad from Malibu, CA. If Kansas was really on the ropes, the Pepperdine Waves may have a chance at knocking off the young Jayhawks five. Get ready, Lawrence, KS! It's going to be a hot one, baby! I learned what Kansas' chant is, so "rock... chalk... Jayhawk... KU!" Rock Chalk rocked the house, beating the dismal Waves. (63-43; KANSAS)

* East Washington at Gonzaga
Call them the Zags, but no matter how you put it, Gonzaga is in the house and ready to climb up the leaderboard. The Kennel is where Gonzaga calls home. It's called "The Kennel" much like Florida calls their football stadium "The Swamp." You can't have a kennel without dogs, so what dogs would best fit Gonzaga? Uh... Bulldogs? Yeah, that'll fit. These puppies are going to have to look to the skies and find their opponent because they'll be touching down shortly. Their football team has done quite well, but the East Washington Eagles shouldn't be too far from Spokane, WA, as EWU is based in Cheyney, WA.
(75-65; GONZAGA)

* Mississippi State at Liberty
The Mississippi State Bulldogs doused the Flames of Liberty.
(78-67; Mississippi State)

* Oakland at Marquette
This is the college for GTPlanet's own "BlazinXtreme," so let's see if his Golden Grizzlies of the Mid-Continent can down the Big East's Marquette. The Golden Eagles had other ideas, I'm afraid to say. Golden Eagles smashed the Golden Grizzlies.
(90-69; MARQUETTE)

MEN'S RAPID FIRE
* Northern Iowa at Louisiana State (54-50; Northern Iowa)
* Tennessee-Martin at Morehead State (80-67; Tennessee-Martin)
* Northern Colorado at Northern Arizona (63-52; NORTHERN ARIZONA)
* Denver at Stanford (71-49; STANFORD)

WOMEN'S DIVISION
"Red Hot Bulls" Puerto Rico-Mayaguez at South Florida
This game was ugly. The Lady Bulldogs of Puerto Rico-Mayaguez fell hard on their faces against the Lady Bulls of South Florida. (121-41; SOUTH FLORIDA)

WOMEN'S RAPID FIRE
* Dartmouth at Houston (76-69; Dartmouth)
* Texas-San Antonio at Arizona State (-; ARIZONA STATE)
* Colgate at Binghampton (82-61; BINGHAMPTON)
* Holy Cross at Connecticut (81-54; CONNECTICUT)
* Ball State at #2 Duke (110-24; DUKE) -OWNAGE CONTENDER-
* Memphis at Oklahoma State (91-42; OKLAHOMA STATE)

Sorry for the late scores, GTPlanet.

LAST WEEK...
Heartbreak in Lexington! For one thing, Louisville was ranked as high as #4, and got their asses handed to by Kentucky. It was a huge upset in the VERY LOUD Rupp Arena for these two rivals and this rivalry game.
This was only a huge upset to a few fanboy Louisville fans, Billy Packer, and people not paying complete attention to the bluegrass rivals.

There were Louisville fans where I work that lost an entire paycheck in bets. What were they thinking? I'll sum up how this "upset" came about.

Louisville's schedule was ranked 331 out of 336. How does someone with that schedule get to #4? They had only played six cupcake teams at home. Kentucky had already played four good teams this year and had a struggling start with morale and concentration issues. Kentucky also had already gotten nine games under their belt, four of them on the road.

Kentucky was struggline with morale and concentration issues many blamed on the Randolph Morris elligibility situation. Days before the Indiana game Kentucky was told Morris wouldn't return for at least a season. This eliminated their best center and the morale was lowered and it showed in their play and in their grades. One player had to sit out a game due to grades. None of the players seemed excited or hapy in interviews.

Then two days before the Louisville game the NCAA came back with new information and reinstated Morris for Januray 14th, just in time for conference play. Suddenly everyone was laughing in interviews and smiling.

Come game day Kentucky went out with a vengeance as Rajon Rondo played his best game ever and everyone else stepped up as well. Every player pulled his weight. The game started in an 8-0 run by Kentucky and they never looked back. At one point they even led by 26 points.

I had been explaining to the Louisville fans that I know that Dean was scoring something like 46% of the team's points. He isn't Kobe Bryant and he can't keep that up, plus the first team to shut him down will seriously hurt Louisville. That was witnessed Saturday. Dean didn't score for the last ten minutes of the game.

Add to Dean's trouble the fact that Louisville's center, Padget, had two fouls in less than two minutes and you are left with only Pillacios(sp) and a bunch of young inexperienced guys. At one point it was him and four Freshmen on the floor. Even when Padget came back in he wouldn't take a shot inside or try and block a shot for fear of getting even more fouls.

Rick Patino did not help his team's morale at all when he yelled BS (the full version) on a charge and got a T called on himself.

In the end it came down to Kentucky was on a morale high, better experienced, had a deeper bench, and didn't rely on one player to carry the game.

Best statistic of the game as far as I am concerned: Louisville led the game by 0:00.

And BIG BLUE nation is still celebrating.

The only upside for Louisville fans is that most of them recognized that you never bet on a rivalry game because it is always too close to call.

TUESDAY'S GAMES
GTPlanet, the New Orleans Bowl may be on in college football, but who said only college football can be exciting? Get ready for some more holiday hoops!

MEN'S DIVISION
* North Carolina-Asheville at North Carolina-Wilmington
North Carolina is for college football. Isn't it a great feeling in late fall or early spring to see your favorite college teams in action? Well, North Carolina is in the house for this game, only that it isn't North Carolina or Duke (at least not yet). This is the Big South meeting the CAA. The North Carolina-Asheville Bulldogs are looking to take down a team that's done quite well so far. The North Carolina-Wilimington Seahawks are looking to submerge their Bulldog counterparts. NC-Wilmington has done quite well, but did they do well enough against North Carolina-Asheville? You bet! It's a runaway victory as the North Carolina-Asheville Bulldogs... well, fell to ashes.
(68-50; NORTH CAROLINA-WILMINGTON)

"Fly Like a Monarch Buttterfly, Sting Like a Bee" Old Dominion at Richmond
What state is north of North Carolina? Right. Virginia. What colleges and universities do you think of when it comes to Virgina? Maybe Marcus Vick and his Virginia Tech boys? Virginia upsetting Florida State in football? Maybe even watching William and Mary? Well, guess what. Neither of those bigtimers are in this game. The Old Dominion Monarchs aren't going to impress you with football on hardwood offense, but they will give you a run for your money. Let's hope they can do that against the Richmond Spiders. Do you freak out around spiders? Many of us get archnophobia personally, but Old Dominion hopes they don't fear arachnids. Unless of course, they got freaked out in some Halloween party months ago. Anyhow, back to the game... and what a game! Richmond got it done in OT.
(61-58; RICHMOND)

* Liberty at Mount St. Mary
Liberty continues to lose. The Flames were defeated by the mighty Mount of Mount St. Mary. Yes. The Mount is their nickname much like Slippery Rock call themselves the "Rock." (??-??; MOUNT ST. MARY)

* Colgate at Harvard
These are two college hockey powers, two decent college football teams, and are hardwood enemies, especially tonight. The Colgate Raiders won a share of the Patriot League title in football, and hope to extend some Patriot League cheer for the new season. Another team in red is Harvard. But they have a special red color which doubles as their nickname, and that's the Harvard Crimson.

* Florida International at La Salle
La Salle may actually have some competition in MAAC basketball. Only five teams comprise the MAAC football unit. They include La Salle, St. Peter's College, Wagner College, Duquesne, and . A few years ago, St. John's used to be in college football before they dropped their program. But La Salle's Explorers don't have to worry about losing to Division 2 and 3 teams in football because they have a chance in basketball. And they'll have to do it against the Florida International Golden Panthers from one of my favorite cities, Miami, FL. Who did the hurtin' and who took a hurtin'? I'll tell you who got her done.
(-; )

"Lancer Evolution MMV" Valparaiso at Longwood
I believe Longwood is in Virginia. They are one of the latest Division 1 newcomers along with Kennessaw State, New Jersey Instittute of Technology (New Jersey Tech?), North Florida, and even Northern Colorado. But can the Longwood Lancers rip a humungous upset over Valparaiso? The Valparaiso Crusaders hope and pray that doesn't happen. Longwood calls themselves the Lancers, and so they'll need to be every bit as dominating and as menacing as a Mitsubishi Lancer. They'll need to perform very well. Could the Lancers pull the trick?

* Louisiana Tech at Memphis

(-; )

* Middle Tennessee at Louisville
Poor Blue Raiders.... Louisvile's Cardinals cleaned house at Freedom Hall.
(76-68; LOUISVILLE)

"My Two Points" Maryland-Eastern Shore at Brown
The Hawks of Maryland-Eastern Shore defeated Brown's Bears. I hate that song "It Takes Two, baby... it takes two baby..." but that was the spread- two points.
(59-57; Maryland Eastern Shore)

* Navy at Yale
America's team is your call- the Army, or the Navy. They may be big rivals Army and Navy are, but on the hardwood, it may be too close to call. America's basketball team must dominate, show committment to service to our great nation, and have to be able to take on all comers and get the best result possible, even in losing efforts. Well, the Navy Midshipmen just might be the better of the service academies (just like in football), but they are no Bucknell. Neither are the Yale Bulldogs. The Ivy Leaugers look to infect Navy with PLENTY of poison ivy and bite through the Midshipmen. It was a close loss for Navy. Yale's Bulldogs beat Navy by a long-range bomb. (73-70; YALE)

* Stetson at Florida State
Deland, FL is home to Stetson. Last year, Stetson finished 10-17 overall and 8-12 in their conference (Atlantic Sun). Will the sun shine again for these Floridians? The Hatters put on their thinking caps and thought about what it would take to rebound from the horrors of last season. They'll have a tough time doing it against Florida State. The Seminoles may not be the best Florida-based basketball team (Florida is best), but they still are quite as menacing as their football program... something Stetson doesn't have. Did the Noles' knock out the Hatters?
(-; )

* Northeastern at Providence
The Friars of Providence College get back to winning by knocking off the Northeastern Huskies. (92-70; PROVIDENCE)

* IPFW at Purdue
Independents battle the Big Ten. IPFW stands for Indiana-Purdue-Fort Wayne. Fort Wayne, Indiana has its IPFW Mastadons staying in the state of Indiana to square off against Purdue. The West Lafayette, IN bunch may not be the best team in Indiana (Indiana University), but the Boilermakers are killer on the boards and on the hardwood. Athlon Sports has Purdue as an NIT pick come March. But they can be an NCAA pick starting with this game. No sweat. (79-69; PURDUE)

* Army at Cornell
The Army Black Knights are ready to roll. But so are the Cornell Big Red, the pride of Ithaca, NY. In fact, both are New Yorkers. Army reps West Point. Cornell didn't have a very good outing against Cornell as the Big Red knocked off the Black Knights. (-; CORNELL)

* Drake at Iowa
Two Iowa schools meet in this matchup. And the Hawkeyes defeated Drake's Bulldogs... but not by too much.
(65-60; IOWA)

MEN'S RAPID FIRE
* Chattanooga vs. Puerto Rico-Mayaguez (-; Chattanooga)
* Holy Cross vs. Clemson (-; )
* Houston at UNLV (83-73; NEVADA-LAS VEGAS)
* Notre Dame de Namur at Santa Clara (86-35; SANTA CLARA)

WOMEN'S DIVISION
NOTE: Because of my computer crashing so much in recording scores, I'll only let you know who won. If you want the full score for this night, i recommend you visiting:

http://sports.yahoo.com/ncaaw/scoreboard?d=2005-20-19&c=all&refresh=0

...for more scores. Anyhow, here are some of the winners of the Women's Games.

* Princeton at Tennessee (??-??; TENNESSEE)

* Tulane at Louisiana State (??-??; LOUISIANA STATE)

*Vanderbilt at North Carolina (??-??; NORTH CAROLINA)

*Sacred Heart at Ohio State (??-??; OHIO STATE)

My apologies. Thank the computer for these very late scores.

WEDNESDAY'S GAMES
GMAC Bowl taking place in college sports, but there was some action in America and in the Caribbean. So make like GMAC, and here is your college hoops fix.

MEN'S DIVISION
The first three games are games from ESPN2's Triple Header. Afterwards, it's a nice collection of other hoops games. You ready to light it up from three-point land? Fire away!

"Fire and Ice" St. John's at #1 Duke
Let's meet some boys from the greater New York area wearing red, and some boys in North Carolina wearing blue. First, New York City. St. John's University has been in a hole with their basketball program. Believe it or not, St. John's did not win a single road game last year. Hopefully, the Red Storm will rebound and make at least the NIT at best. From a team hoping to make the NIT, to a team hoping for yet another NCAA bid. The Duke Blue Devils are projected to be the National Champions according to Athlon Sports. Prognostication isn't going to cut it for this game. You have to earn it, player. You dig? Duke earned their stripes as St. John's struggles continue. Obviously they aren't one of the best Big East teams right about now. (70-57; DUKE)

"Keep it on the Dee Low" Illinois vs. Missouri (Savvis Center; St. Louis, MO)
Big Ten at Big XII coming up. Dee Brown and his Illinois crew are looking to keep a good thing going by beating a team that used to be a very talented bunch. In the end, the Missouri Tigers fell very short to the Illinois Fighting Illini. (80-52; Illinois)

* Arkansas vs Texas Tech (American Airlines Center, Dallas, TX)
Texas Tech's Red Raiders is in deep crap now. The Razorbacks edged up Texas Tech in Texas. Disappointing loss, ya?
(78-65; Arkansas)

* College of Charleston at Louisville
Fresh off of losing to rivals Kentucky, Louisville's Cardinals rebounded by taking down the Cougars from the College of Charleston. (78-63; LOUISVILLE)

* Michigan State at Wisconsin-Green Bay
Green Bay Packer fans are pretty disappointed in the rough season they are having. Hoping to give Dairy Country a lift in confidence in another sport are the Wisconsin-Green Bay men's basketball team. A Phoenix upset would send the East Lansing boys into shock. What East Lansing? Only one if you're a college sports fan. And that's Michigan State. The Michigan State Spartans don't want an upset to happen as they try to chase another NCAA tourney for the Men and the Women. Smooth sailing for the Spartans. (98-61; Michigan State)

* Liberty at Puerto Rico-Mayaguez
The Puerto Rico-Mayaguez Bulldogs lost in Puerto Rico to the Flames of Liberty. Burned up the competition. (74-60; Liberty)

* Western Kentucky vs. Arizona! (Fiesta Bowl Classic; Tuscon, AZ)
The Fiesta Bowl... something Arizona's football team isn't going to go to as long as their football team remains the most pathetic Pac-10 football team. The Wildcats have a redeeming quality in known college sports- a great basketball team. They meet Western Kentucky, a team in the Ohio Valley Conference (I believe) in football, but the Sun Belt in basketball. The Hilltoppers know both sports well and look to prove it against the wounded giant, Arizona. Arizona may have lost to teams like Houston and others (okay, maybe just a cheap plug for my home town), but it was no problem for Arizona. Maybe this is a Fiesta Bowl Arizona can actually WIN. (86-81, OT, ARIZONA)

* Oakland at Wisconsin-Milwaukee
The Oakland Golden Grizzlies of the Mid-Continent lost pretty bad to the Wisconsin-Milwaukee Panthers. The Panthers continue to have a great season. (83-60; WISCONSIN-MILWAUKEE)

"One Half Mile at a Time" Murray State at Samford
Let's check into Murray State and Samford. The Murray State Racers took the green flag and looked to leave Samford stuck in neutral. Bulldogs may not know how to drive or race, but Samford's brand hoped to put Murray State into the wall. Samford did their job and did it well. (60-51; SAMFORD)

* Georgia at Nevada
Georgia toned down the stink meter as they're doing quite well. The Bulldogs want to keep a good thing going, but they'll have to do it against Nevada. Nevada is no pushover team. In fact, they knocked off Kansas earlier this year AT Kansas. Georgia's playing in Nevada's house, but is it a happy homecoming for the Nevada Wolfpack?
(-; )

* Niagara at Notre Dame
Will Niagara fall like Niagara Falls? The Purple Eagles did indeed fall to the Fighting Irish of Notre Dame. Sure takes a lot of guts to down the mighty eagle. (80-??; NOTRE DAME)

* #17 North Carolina at Southern California
OH MY GOD!!! I can't believe it! The Southern California Trojans made a complete upset out of North Carolina. Who would have thought the Tar Heels would (1) lose, and (2) lose this bad? I can't believe this upset! Did Reggie Bush start for the basketball team? (74-59; SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA)

* Coppin State at Pittsbugh
The Pittsburgh Panthers meowed and clawed their way into defeating the Coppin State Eagles. (77-51; PITTSBURGH)

* Northern Ariona at San Francisco
This is an upset to me. Northern Arizona downed the Dons of San Francisco. It was a big win for the Lumberjacks. Lumber in the desert? Well, look at the pretty score. Close finish, too. (70-66; Northern Arizona)

* St. Joseph's at Bucknell
The Patriot League's Bucknell continue their winning ways as the Bison defeated a talented Hawks team from Philadelphia's Saint Joseph's. (63-51; BUCKNELL)

* Illinois-Chicago at Syracuse
Te Syracuse Orange had a burning desire to torch the Illinois-Chicago Flames. UIC didn't stand a C-H-A-N-C-E. (75-61; SYRACUSE)

* Texas Southern at Rice
This ia battle of two of three Houston Divsion 1 schools. Texas Southern and Rice have one thing in common. Both of their football teams suck. The Tigers got their butts handed to by Connecticut, but could they stop the bleeding when they go to Rice? The Rice Owls join Conference USA- the same conference as their bitter rival... the Houston Cougars. But here, it's SWAC at C-USA. And in terms of SWAC, TSU is no Alabama A&M. They didn't win this match either. (81-65; RICE)

*
All offense. Who cares about defense? The California-Riverside Highlanders and Puget Sound Loggers had a thrilling encounter with a huge upset (Division 3 beats Division 1)! Enjoy the score!
(115-111; Puget Sound)

WOMEN'S DIVISION

* #18 New Mexico at New Mexico State ---RIVALRY GAME---
This was an enchanting thriller from the Land of Enchantment. The New Mexico Lady Lobos lost to the New Mexico State Lady Aggies. Gig em... oh wait, wrong Aggies. Not only was it a thriller, it was an upset. (79-77, 3OT; NEW MEXICO STATE)

* North Carolina-Greensboro at North Carolina-Wilmington
The Lady Seahawks are as good as their male counterparts as they defeated the North Carolina-Greensboro Lady Spartans. (65-54; NORTH CAROLINA-WILMINGTON)

* Northern Arizona at Puerto Rico-Mayaguez
A little boricua action now! Too bad the Puerto Rico-Mayaguez Lady Bulldogs lost to the Northern Arizona Lumberjills (female Lumberjack, I guess). (79-44; Northern Arizona)

* Niagara at #21 Boston College
Boston College's Lady Eagles remain ranked high, defeating the Niagara Lady Purple Eagles. The score was UGLY! (101-49; BOSTON COLLEGE)

* Utah at Eastern Michigan
The Utah Lady Utes downed the Eastern Michigan Eagles.
(72-67; Utah)

THURSDAY'S GAMES
SPECIAL NOTE: I would like to send my condolences to the Dungy family for the suicide death of James Dungy. My thoughts and prayers go out to friends and family affected by this death. Very sad death considering what time of year this is. Again, my thoughts and prayers to the Dungy family for the death of James Dungy.

Have you done your Christmas shopping? Hopefully, you've been very nice. So nice in fact, that this is a great gift to share with anyone- college hoops.

MEN'S DIVISION
North Carolina's men's basketball team got upset by the University of Southern California Trojans. You football fans know what USoCal is, they're playing... Texas for some National Championship. Yeah, THOSE Trojans. Let's see if any other upsets will happen today or tonight.

"Vitamin C" Tennessee vs. Oklahoma State (O' Reilly Auto Parts All-College Classic; Oklahoma City, OK)
Two teams with orange are in the house for this game. I had my Vitamin C well before typing up these game reports, so hopefully you've had yours too. But if you didn't, let's begin with a team you may know about. The Tennessee Volunteers put on their Away Game colors, so they aren't the ones in white. Tennessee is great in almost any sport they enter in, including college basketball. Candace Parker is great for the Women's Team, but it's about the fellows tonight. I will have the ladies covered at the end of this Men's segment. Oklahoma State shared the same thing with Tennessee in football- losing seasons. Hopefully what the football Cowboys couldn't accomplish, the basketball Cowboys look to lasso up the competition. Yee-haw, varmints! Oklahoma State lassoed up more than a victory... they rip an upset, handing Tennessee their first loss of the year. (89-73; Oklahoma State)

* West Virginia vs. #7 Oklahoma (O' Reilly Auto Parts All-College Classic; Oklahoma City, OK)
Now that you've seen Oklahoma State, meet their Bedlam rivals! Oklahoma State won, but could the Sooners win as well? Sadly, they fell BIG to the West Virginia Mountaineers. The Sooners couldn't top Mount West Virginia.
(92-68; West Virginia)

"Philly Five Hi5" La Salle at Villanova
Philadelphia's Big Five action now. There is no such basketball conference as Philadelphia's Big Five, but it doesn't mean that two of Philly's five will go at it. And by the way, this is all of Division 1's basketball talent, not including teams like Division 2 school, Philadelphia. Anyhow, the La Salle Explorers are exploring for ways to beat down their opponents tonight. They have a tough opponent. That tough opponent happens to be one of the most menacing teams that begin with "V." No, this isn't football, so don't think Virginia Tech. It's Villanova. The Villanova Wildcats are one of the Big East's ones to watch. Whereas names like St. John's, Providence, Georgetown, and such are not performing at peak level, Villanova's on the upswing. Speaking of swings, it's time to see two of Philadelphia's 5 compete in this hardwood battle. The Big V got her done.
(98-57; VILLANOVA)

* Texas State at Texas
The Texas Longhorns need some sort of win to stop the bleeding. So a win against the dismal Texas State Bobcats may help in the long run.
(-; T)

* City College of New York at Long Island
This game is all about The Big Apple, players! The City College of New York is credited for winning the NIT and NCAA titles in the same year (truly impossible now). The City College of New York Beavers are a Division 3 team that's getting a little hungry. Well, the Long Island University Blackbirds certainly don't want to be turned into Blackbird Pie. CCNY wants some pie... but all they got was a sour feeling in their collective stomachs. A BIG one. (80-39; LONG ISLAND)

* Binghampton at Central Connecticut State
Do you like the ESPN show, "Pardon the Interruption?" The co-host Tony Kornheiser is from Binghampton. Sadly, his Wildcats didn't deliver against the Central Connecticut State Blue Devils. The score was pretty close. (72-68; CENTRAL CONNECTICUT STATE)

* Utah vs. Washington State (KeyArena; Seattle, WA)
West Coast basketball. If some of you tire of the East Coast always covered, well, here's a west coast game for you. Utah is clearly NOT a nobody school. Last football season, the Utah boys under that magician Urban Meyer made a difference by making it to a BCS Bowl Game. Now, the Utah Utes want to have some magic of their own, and they face an opponent clearly not the best unit in the Pac-10. Pullman, WA is where Washingtson State University is, and the city they are playing in is very familiar considering their rivals, the University of Washington. The Washington State Cougars sport perhaps one of Division 1's ugliest-looking logos, looking to give an ugly loss to the Utes. Did they? I normally thought Utah was a great team, this weekend disappointed many who believed in Utah. (69-42; Washington State)

* Boise State vs. San Francisco (ASU Holiday Tournament; Wells Fargo Arena; Tempe, AZ
Those boys in light blue with orange trim met some boys in green and yellow. Sadly, the San Francisco Dons have some cleaning up to do after Boise State's Broncos cleaned house over San Francisco. (69-58; Boise State)

* Texas A&M-Corpus Christi at TCU
The Texas Christian University Horned Frogs got squashed by the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi Islanders. Considering that frogs are amphibians, I thought they could adapt to this game. (55-49; Texas A&M-Corpus Christi)

* Hawaii Pacific vs. Northern Iowa (Valley High School; Las Vegas, NV)
Wait a minute... this is COLLEGE basketball! What are we doing at a high school? While you're thinking about that, let me remind you that the lower the division, the smaller the crowd even if at a high school. If you're expecting North Carolina or Kentucky crowds, forget about it. For this game, the big power here is Northern Iowa. The Panthers look to take on a Hawaiian university. There's only one true Hawaiian school with a football pedigree, and that's the University of Hawaii. The Hawaiian Pacific boys are known as the Hawaii Pacific University Sea Warriors. HPU represents the Pacific West Conference, a Division 2 conference. The most popular of the PWC? Ever heard of the Chaminade Silverswords? The Pacific West Conference also includes BYU-Hawaii, University of Hawai'i-Hilo, and Notre Dame de Namur. Did the Division 1 boys send the Division 2 boys back to high school? Hell yes.
(81-47; Northern Iowa)

* Pepperdine at UNLV
Former National Champions Nevada-Las Vegas' Rebels shown the heart of a champion, power of attorney, and all sorts of clichés in their time, but they may have trouble against the Pepperdine Waves. Pepperdine remains horrible... except for tonight. (75-61; Pepperdine)

* Navy at Brown
How can Navy not be excited? The Midshipmen won the inaugural San Diego Credit Union Poinsettia Bowl in football, then beat the Brown Bears on the hardwood. Great night for Navy! (73-64; Navy)

"Winning Winthrop" Palm Beach Atlantic at Winthrop
The Winthrop Eagles aren't exactly the class of Division 1 basketball, but they beat the ungodly crap out of Palm Beach Atlantic. (101-49; WINTHROP)

"Sucks to be U" #5 Florida at Miami
These next two games feature three of Florida's biggest college sports powers. For this one, the Miami Hurricanes kept the game close, but the Florida Gators refused to play dead. The U underacheived in this one. (77-67; Florida)

* Campbell at Florida State
The Seminoles of Florida State are ready to beat down some opposition. I know the Black Eyed Peas recently released a song with 30-year old "Fergie" talking about her humps. Well, here are some humped mammals that has problems winning games- the Campbell Camels. The Camels got one more set of humps, basically battle bumps by being blown out by Florida State. "Spending all your money on me..." (108-73; FLORIDA STATE)

* Detroit at Ohio
It's a saddening loss as the Detroit Titans lose by one to the Ohio Bobcats. (56-55; OHIO)

WOMEN'S SCORES
* Vanderbilt at La Salle
The La Salle Lady Explorers may be the hometeam, but the Sixth Man... er, Woman... couldn't rattle the Vanderbilt Lady Commodores. (70-57; Villanova)

* Oregon at Southern California
Just like football. The Southern California Women of Troy defeated the Oregon Lady Ducks pretty bad. (72-48; SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA)

* Villanova at #25 Temple
The pride of Philadelhia was defended wonderfully by Temple's Lady Owls. The Villanova Lady Wildcats didn't catch up fast enough to win.
(52-43; TEMPLE)

* Hofstra at Connecticut
No contest in Hartford, CT. The Connecticut Lady Huskies downed the Hofstra Lady Pride by a not even close deal.
(86-49; CONNECTICUT)

* Colorado State at #2 Duke
The Duke Lady Blue Devils defeated Colorado State's Lady Rams. So Colorado State loses in two sports in the same night. Sad. (99-52; DUKE)

* #14 DePaul at Northwestern
If you like ESPN's "Pardon the Interruption," co-host Michael Wilbon is a Northwestern boy. The Northwestern Lady Wildcats took a big loss as ranked DePaul will likely remain one of the top 25 Women's teams to beat. (78-58; DePaul)

* Oakland at Marquette

This was disappointing

SPECIAL NOTE: Since I got a new computer for Christmas ^_^, my updates are going to come pretty slow. Give me maybe a few days, maybe 1-5. I will have Sheraton Hawaii Bowl results as soon as I can get to it.

On top of that, my old computer was crashing as I was trying to get to other scores. So, I'll update this as soon as I can. I apologize for the inconvenience.
