GTPlanet, in preparing for college football results, I've taken Sunday off. As you may well know, I will come off with a "Sunday Sampler" to talk about notable matchups on Sundays. I don't know if it's me, but usually the ladies are showcased on Sundays. Regardless, I'll show off some quick scores for Sunday, all to set myself up for action for Monday-Saturday. For those of who you seen me cover college football, you have to realize something. College basketball is much tougher to cover and come up with all sorts of scores and stories. Why so? Well, it's simple. Some teams may play more than once in a week. Take Akron, for example. First they beat down their own opponent earlier last week, then played Louisville when they got beat down with an NBA-style score. That's why I do my college basketball game coverage in days. So if it seems that I'm getting slow with my reports, this is often a painstaking process. If I don't have a small story to provide, I'll try to get scores and the winner. If I don't have a story or scores, you'll know who won. I want to try to let you know who won. I provide as many scores as I can generate for the over 326 Division 1 schools and maybe a Division 2 or 3 score or two. Having said that, let's recap.

LAST WEEK:
Last week saw a wonderful matchup of #1 vs. #2 as the Duke Blue Devils met Texas in this New Jersey game. Unfortunately, the Longhorns took a horrible loss to the boys from Durham, NC. * Also last week, the Iowa Hawkeyes met rivals Iowa State. It was an upset when the Cyclones defeated the Hawkeyes in Ames, IA. Well, the Hawkeyes lost in football and now basketball to the Cyclones. * George Washington University is really doing a great job and may be an NCAA threat come March. The Colonials were knocking off teams left and right and maybe accepting some tough losses so far. * The University of Houston has a great program going as well. They are looking to make it into the NCAA after having made it to the NIT last season, losing to Wichita State in the 1st Round.

Let's do some more hoops. You up? Let's do this, players!

Here is this week's...

SUNDAY SAMPLER

MEN'S DIVISION
* #16 Boston College {Eagles} at #20 Maryland {Terrapins}- (73-71; MARYLAND)
* Louisiana-Lafayette at Texas-El Paso - (65-59, OT; Louisiana-Lafayette)

WOMEN
* #4 Ohio State {(Lady) Buckeyes} at USC {(Lady) Trojans} - (68-57; Ohio State)
* Missouri-Kansas City {(Lady) Kangaroos} at Kansas State {(Lady) Wildcats} - (75-42; KANSAS STATE)
* Purdue at Valparaiso (70-55; Purdue)

I'll have Monday's Games for both Men and Women when I get a chance. So, I'll see you around.

MONDAY'S GAMES

MEN'S DIVISION
The scores I've selected are all home victories. Many more scores out there, but these are courtesy of ESPNEWS.

"Close Fight" North Carolina-Wilmington at Wisconsin
The University of North Carolina features several different schools in different cities. There are University of North Carolina schools in Asheville, Greensboro, Charlotte, and Wilmington. I believe respectively, NC-Asheville represents the Big South, NC-Greensboro represents the SOCON, NC-Charlotte moved to the Atlantic 10 from C-USA, and the North Carolina-Wilmington Seahawks are part of the CAA. Nice diversity, eh? Wisconsin is as diverse as they come as well. The Badgers call Madison, WI home, Camp Randall as their football home, and the Kohl Center as their basketball home. It was a close one, but Wisconsin prevented any upset from happening. Both teams have winning records so far, and I believe this is loss #2 for the Seahawks. (54-51; WISCONSIN)

"Buckeye Ballers" Norfolk State at #25 Ohio State
THE Ohio State coming up next. We welcome the Spartans of Norfolk State who made a little trip to Columbus, OH earlier tonight. When you think of Ohio State, you normally think of football. Ohio State hasn't been National Champions in football since the end of the 2002-2003 season. The Buckeyes look to make a statement defending their ranked status against Norfolk State. You see, when you're a ranked team, you are marked for the entire duration of your dominance. Being at the top means you must stay there, or fall down the leaderboard and maybe go to the NIT instead of the NCAA. Ohio State defends their Top 25 rank with power, authority, and grace. (92-56; OHIO STATE)

"I Know the Feeling..." Savannah State at North Florida
Savannah State sucks. They are a Division 1-AA Independent and a Division 1 Independent unit in basketball. Another win would be greatly satisfying for this dismal unit. The Tigers met Division 1 newbies North Florida. There is another UNO that isn't the University of New Orleans (women's score for UNO coming up later!). The North Florida Ospreys are lighting up Jacksonville, FL, hoping to make another win by pounding Savannah State. Savannah State is probably better off in Division 2 after this. (81-62; NORTH FLORIDA)

"We the People..." Howard at American
Washington D.C. is what this game is all about. Howard University and American University are two of Washington D.C.'s finest talent other than Georgetown and George Washington. The Howard Bison's basketball logo looks more like the Buffalo Bills logo, but these Bison can light you up if you let them. Their opponents are true American patriots, so much so, they couldn't find a better conference than the Patriot League. The American University Eagles aren't exactly the best team out of Washington D.C., but they will try to prove they aren't pushovers. Mission accomplished. (72-60; AMERICAN)

"Weapons of Mass Dunking" Boston University at Massachusetts
We're all about Massachusetts in this one. Staying on the East Coast, let's meet the two teams. Boston University came in at 3-2 on the year. The Terriers of the America East Conference woud love nothing more than to upset their counterparts on the road. Boston College is obviously the better Boston [area] school, but Boston University wants to make something happen. Massachusetts is a talented club, just too bad the Minutemen of the Atlantic 10 aren't having a dream season right about now. They had a great win nonetheless. They still have work to do to make the NCAA this year and NOT the NIT (not saying that the NIT is a disappointment). (64-45; MASSACHUSETTS)

"Thunderhawks" Monmouth at Lehigh
The Hawks of Monmouth faced the Mountain Hawks of Lehigh. If you're an NBA fan and want to see some Hawks that can actually WIN games, this may be your ticket. Afterwards, the boys from Easton, PA (Lehigh) won the game wonderfully. (71-57; LEHIGH)

* UMKC at South Dakota State
South Dakota State are newcomers here, challenging UMKC. UMKC is the pride of Kansas City, MO. They are also home to one of the few nicknames based on marsupials. The UMKC Kangaroos must have hops on the court if kangaroos hop around a lot. Something happened on the way to South Dakota State... they lost! (72-65; SOUTH DAKOTA STATE)

WOMEN'S GAMES

"Cajun Cookout" New Orleans at LSU
Personally, I like boudain. However, some ladies' basketball is a nice Louisiana feast as well. Supplying the recipe for a great match are New Orleans and Louisiana State. Hey, New Orleans! Do you love your Lady Privateers? Hey, Baton Rouge! Do you love your Lady Tigers? Do you love the Tigers so much that you hope they win big? Can't do much better than this! (71-42; LOUISIANA STATE)

"Windy City Divas" Northern Illinois at DePaul
The Chicago area is our next locale. Chicago CERTAINLY loves basketball, especially if you are a fan of the Chicago Bulls of the NBA. Never mind the NBA and really... never mind the men in this case. We're talking about a team who lost only once so far- DePaul. The DePaul Lady Blue Demons are doing everything they are supposed to and then some to be ranked and stay on top. Northern Illinois had a lot on their shoulders as the Lady Huskies from DeKalb, IL don't want to lose big to a great DePaul unit. Don't want to lose? This was a big loss. (89-46; DePAUL)

I'm not going to have too many fancy scores. On the Women's side, no real GAMES, but we have a tough matchup of ACC vs. Big East. So check it out and enjoy the games!

TUESDAY'S GAMES

MEN'S DIVISION
"Johnny Demonic" DePaul at #16 Wake Forest
If this was an answering machine, it would likely go "thank you for calling Conference USA. Sadly, DePaul moved to the Big East. Call them there, thank you!" The Blue Demons aren't hard to find, just hard to find with all the teams in the Big East. They hope to have more than talent as they headed to Winston-Salem, NC. Demons of a different feather, the Wake Forest Demon Deacons are a hot basketball unit in the ACC. Too bad their football team is less than stellar. Unfortunately for the Demon Deacons, they had to take in a big upset loss. The boys from Chicago, IL upset the Wake Forest crew. (84-81; DePaul)

"Fresh Prince of Philly" #4 Villanova at Pennsylvania
Now we're talking about another Big East team... but this time against the Ivy Leauge. First off, the Big East. Villanova is a tried and true Philadelphia unit (in basketball at least). The Wildcats know big wins, considering they knocked off #2 Kansas by more than 30 points last season (now look at Kansas). Looking for respect is another team who calls The Palesta home, the Pennsylvania Quakers. This is all part of Philadelphia's Big Five. Villanova was too big of opposition for the Quakers. (62-55; Villanova d. Penn)

* Chicago State at Louisville
In some of my past reports, you may have seen me knock on the Chicago State logo. Well, the Cougars can still play ball no matter what colors they wear or how their logo looks. Louisville's logo is a p*ssed-off red bird. P*ssed off, but focused. The Cardinals needed to have their game faces on and show no mercy to their Illinois counterparts if they want to make Freedom Hall an even tougher place to play. Location, location, location! We got a blowout in Kentucky! (78-54; LOUISVILLE)

* Saint Mary's at Air Force
It's time to take to the skies, GTPlanet. That's right! The Air Force Academy is looking for a few more good pilots both in training, in life, and on the fields and arenas. The Air Force Falcons don't disappoint often as this Mountain West crew welcomed Saint Mary's. The Saint Mary's (unsure of nickname)s represented one of the few West Coast Conference teams that are making a difference in America, having finished 25-9 last season. Too bad their finish wasn't a good one in Colorado. (63-51 AIR FORCE)

* St. Louis at Mississippi
The Ole Miss Rebels took down the Atlantic 10's (former Conference USA team) St. Louis Bilikens. (77-64; MISSISSIPPI/OLE MISS)

* Seattle Pacific at Nevada
The Falcons of Seattle Pacific University are a Division 2 team playing for the Great Northwest Atheltic Conference. They will return to that conference with a big loss to the Nevada Wolfpack. (83-57; NEVADA)

* Arkansas-Pine Bluff at Arkansas-Little Rock
The Arkansas-Little Rock Trojans downed the Arkansas-Pine Bluff Golden Lions really bad. (72-54; ARKANSAS-LITTLE ROCK)

"The War of the Enchanted Land" New Mexico State at New Mexico ---RIVALRY GAME---
This game went into Overtime. But in OT, New Mexico's Lobos weren't afraid of any Aggies from Las Cruces, NM. (71-68, OT; NEW MEXICO)

* Denver at North Dakota State
Alright players, dig this. North Dakota State is an independent, but it doesn't stop them from landing an upset as big as this. The Denver Pioneers of the Sun Belt couldn't pin down the North Dakota State boys. (79-66; NORTH DAKOTA STATE)

* Louisiana-Lafayette at Louisiana Tech
The Louisiana Tech Bulldogs shown more spunk than the Louisiana-Lafayette Ragin' Cajuns. (85-78; LOUISIANA TECH)

Sadly, I don't have too many scores left. So I suggest visiting this website (among others) for other Men's Scores:

http://sports.yahoo.com/ncaab/scoreboard

WOMEN'S DIVISION

WOMEN'S RAPID FIRE:

* McNeese State at Baylor (72-36; BAYLOR)
* Coppin State at Maryland (69-38; MARYLAND)
* Minnesota at South Carolina (79-61; SOUTH CAROLINA)

THURSDAY'S GAMES
The ESPN series of networks would call this "Throwdown Thursday." I'd call this just another night covered by yours truly. Having said this, let's do scores!

MEN'S DIVISION
"Dairy Country Duel" Wisconsin-Milwaukee at Wisconsin
Wisconsin-Milwaukee is a great Horizon League team. The Panthers knew they had a tough task ahead in trying to down the Wisconsin Badgers. At one point, the game was tied a few minutes after halfway through the 2nd Half. Afterwards, the Big Ten won this game. To be honest, this COULD have been an upset if Wisconsin-Milwaukee got her done. (74-68; WISCONSIN)

* Florida Atlantic at South Florida
In college football, both teams are in Division 1-A. South Florida's an ex-Conference USA unit operating out of Tampa Bay, FL (or just Tampa?). The Bulls welcomed some fowl from Boca Raton. Those fowl are special fowl, the Owls of Florida Atlantic University. Too bad these owls weren't wise enough to win. (62-44; SOUTH FLORIDA)

* Palm Beach Atlantic at Rice
It's time to go to my hometown of Houston, Texas. "Yay!" We have Rice playing. "Boo!" Well, the Owls couldn't care less, okay? (silence) There, that's better. Whoever Palm Beach Atlantic is, they know they've come from Florida to match up against a not bad competitor in Rice. The Owls clean house and blown them out. Perhaps blown them out all the way back to Florida. (93-54; RICE)

* St. Mary's of Maryland at Davidson
This could be considered OWNAGE OF THE NIGHT. Just look at what the Wildcats od Davidson College did to St. Mary's. (112-59; DAVIDSON)

* University of the South (or Sewanee?) at Furman
We stay in the south as the Furman Paladins get ready for action. Well, they got ready for action, but also got ready to give themselves a home victory. (99-69; FURMAN)

* Texas State at Texas Pan-American
The Texas State Bobcats finally get their first win of the season as they pretty much upset the Texas Pan-American Bobcats. Even better, they win on the road, which isn't really easy in basketball, much less football. (58-57; Texas State)

* Webber at The Citadel
The Citadel's Bulldogs reported for duty and took down Webber. Webber was dog meat for The Citadel. (73-56; THE CITADEL)

* Missouri State at Arkansas
Hate blowouts? This one was actually close as the Arkansas Razorbacks barely took down Missouri State's Bears. (79-75; ARKANSAS)

OTHER WINNERS:
104-88; MISSISSIPPI STATE def. ???

WOMEN'S DIVISION
Lady B-ball time, folks. You have plenty of reason to be excited because Top 5 schools highlight the first half of these scores.

* Louisiana Tech at Tennessee
The Tennessee Lady Volunteers made sure the Lady Techsters of Louisiana Tech didn't come away with an upset. They made PERFECTLY sure. Tennessee are now 9-0 for the first time in about four years. (83-59; TENNESSEE)

* #4 Louisiana State at #3 Ohio State
The Lady Buckeyes of Ohio State went at it with the lady Bayou Bengals. The Tigresses (female tiger, of course) made it close, but Ohio State pulled away like a drag racer on a holeshot. (64-48; OHIO STATE)

* Oral Roberts at Texas Tech
To end a disappointing run, the Texas Tech Lady Red Raiders defeated the Golden Eagles of Tulsa, Oklahoma's Oral Roberts. Was it close? Not even. (99-58; TEXAS TECH)

* Ohio at South Carolina
The Lady Gamecocks of South Carolina downed the Ohio Lady Bobcats. (77-49; SOUTH CAROLINA)

FRIDAY'S GAMES
There isn't much college hoops action on Fridays, so don't expect too many scores. In college sports, it's either college football, college hockey, or something like that. But, here you go!

MEN'S DIVISION
I selected five games, all home winners. In fact, the majority of Division 1-hosted games here are all home winners.

* Clevland State at Michigan State
There is very little doubt about if Michigan State is for real. To say the Spartans aren't for real is like saying Dale Earnhardt or Richard Petty weren't for real in winning championship after championship. Some Vikings looked to plunder through Michigan State. Whereas the pro ranks have some Vikings doing jail time in another sport, these Vikings look to shoot and dunk the rock all over East Lansing, MI. Unfortunately, MSU wasn't too impressed. (83-75; MICHIGAN STATE)

* East Washington at #11 Washington
Cheyney, WA is home to a great 1-AA football team in the northwest. But it is also the home of a basketball team with a chance at an upset. How big would it be to have the Eagles beat Washington on the road? The Washnington Huskies are likely the best Pac-10 team that isn't Stanford. Washington wants to make their way into the NCAA tournament and go as far as they want to go. For East Washington, however, where THEY are going is home... saddened... and with a big loss. (94-71, WASHINGTON)

* Lewis and Clark at Portland State
We've seen one pack of Vikings, now let's meet another. The Portland State Vikings are one of the Big Sky's talent as they welcomed a Division 3 (I believe) school, Lewis and Clark College. If you know your history, you'll know that Lewis and Clark are very influential figures back in American history. Lewis and Clark College wants to make history of their own, beating a Division 1 school. Didn't happen. They were about as history as the guys the school was named after. (85-59; PORTLAND STATE)

* Western Michigan at Southern California<
Going from Western Michigan to Los Angeles must take a good number of hours, maybe a day or two. Whatever the case, the Broncos look ready to take on a team who recently won the national championship in Water Polo, hoping to add another ADT Championship Trophy come January 4th, 2006- The University of Southern California. The Trojans represent Los Angeles with class, honor, committment, teamwork, and never quit until the job's done. This win is a nice win for the Trojans. Well done, boys! (77-62; SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA)

* California State-Stanislaus at California Polytechnical<
Guess which team is known as the Mustangs. If you guessed Cal Polytechnical, you're right. Had you paid attention to this post, you'll know what side won all the games. So who won? The Home Team. Which is? Right! Cal Polytechnical. What's the score? You don't know that yet, right? Well, take a look at the score. There you go. Good job. (88-75; CALIFORNIA POLYTECHNICAL)

WOMEN'S DIVISION
Okay, we seen how the men play b-ball. Now let's take a look at the ladies in their b-balling.

* Campbell at Hawaii
Some girls love to brag about being great surfers, especially on T-shirts and stuff. Be it Roxy, Billabong, Hollister, or whatever, girls love surfing. Well, Hawaii is all about that and more. You may not be able to get a Master's Degree in surfing, but being a Lady Warrior/Lady Rainbow Warrior, you can study for whatever cause you please and have some time to enjoy Honolulu beach life. Campbell obviously isn't paradise, but the Lady Camels would love taking the fight to the Hawaii girls. Surf's up! The high tide washed away Campbell like it was nothing. (69-59; HAWAII)

"Red Hot Chili Peppderines" Southern at Pepperdine
Louisiana's never been the same since Hurricanes Katrina and Rita. Regardless, the Southern Lady Jaguars pressed on about as well as their Men's Basketball team and their football team. Whereas Pepperdine's male team is struggling like Ashlee Simpson's singing career, the Lady Waves want to make some waves against Southern. And as the score indicates, Peppderdine did their job. (64-53; PEPPERDINE)

* Denver at San Francisco
We got college basketball action, did you know that? Denver is a great basketball school, not to mention the defending champions of college hockey. However, these Lady Pioneers look to start some mess in beautiful San Francisco. Whatever the case, the Lady Dons are looking to start trouble too... on their turf! So who got the better of this deal, eh? The San Francisco chicas got it done at home, leaving the Mile High girls on an island... well, mile high. (64-59; SAN FRANCISCO)

* Mississippi at Memphis ---RIVALRY GAME---
This wouldn't be a bad matchup on the men's side. Actually, no, it wouldn't be. Memphis would kill Ole Miss. If you look on a map, Oxford, MS and Memphis, TN aren't far from each other. In fact, these two have a non-conference rivalry really known in football. For the Mississippi Lady Rebels, however, that rivalry extends to the Fairer Sex. Memphis is ready for them. If the men's Tigers can get it done, then perhaps the Tigresses (female tigers) can knock down Mississippi like a 3-point buzzer beater. Sadly, Mississippi won the game in a good fight. (87-81; Mississippi)

* Bethune-Cookman at North Florida
This is all about Florida. Daytona Beach, FL is home to Bethune-Cookman College, and the Lady Wildcats. Newcomers North Florida seem to be more like underdogs playing for the first time in Division 1. The Lady Ospreys know that this is a learning experience for all of them. This brand is based in Jacksonville, FL. The Lady Ospreys had another learning experience- learning that Ospreys are better than Wildcats. (47-45; NORTH FLORIDA)

* Minnesota-Duluth at North Dakota State
Minnesota-Duluth is familiar if you follow college hockey. I don't know their nickname, but North Dakota State wants to teach these Minnesota girls how to play basketball. I don't know the nickname to ND State either. The ladies who win is all that matters. And in this case, Minnesota-Duluth takes down D1 girls, ND State. 70-61; Minnesota-Duluth)

"Arlington Darlings" Texas-Arlington at Troy
There's no Dallas about it, but the Lady Mavericks were looking to pound Troy. The Lady Trojans couldn't handle a little Texas-Arlington full court pressure. (64-54; Texas-Arlington)

* East Carolina at Marshall
This Conference USA matchup is between East Carolina and Marshall. The Lady Pirates were looking to scoop up some booty in the form of a win on the road. The Marshall Lady Thundering Herd, however, weren't going to sit down and let East Carolina dominate. The match was pretty close, with a margin of three to decide this one. (57-54; MARSHALL)

Get ready for Saturday basketball in my next post! Next week, college football may start up, but the college basketball train still can't be stopped until a few days into April. See you then!

SATURDAY'S GAMES
For hoops fans, Thank Goodness It's Saturday, right? Well, I'm going to cut to the chase for the first men's game because I know "FoolKiller" wants to know who beat who in Lexington. I'll make that the first game, so let's do Saturdays!

MEN'S DIVISION
"Kentucky Fried Hoops" #4 Louisville at #24 Kentucky ---RIVALRY GAME---
The Bluegrass State is where we begin on the Men's Side. In football, this would be a no contest as Louisville would easily dominate. In basketball, both schools are very well balanced. The Louisville Cardinals left Freedom Hall for one of the other tough places to play- Rupp Arena. Rupp has to seat about 10,000 or 12,000 screaming fans. You can bet at least 80 to 85 percent of Rupp Arena will be full of blue and white when Louisville's in town. The Kentucky Wildcats just DO NOT like Louisville. So, Louisville #4, but Kentucky can create a hellacious upset against the Big East debutantes, Louisville. Let me tell you something, GTPlanet. Rupp Arena is LOUD! On CBS, it was so loud that you'd swear the roof was cracking when Kentucky scored! The first three scores by Louisville were all long-range bombs to make it 15-9 in favor of Kentucky. This is a battle between Red Bank, NJ's Taquan Dean (Louisville) and Louisville, KY's Rajon Rondo (Kentucky). It was about 39-24 in favor of the upset-bound Kentucky Wildcats at the half. Randolph Morris' (Kentucky) suspension was cut short, and will return on January 10, 2006. Louisville NEVER LEAD THE GAME! Disappointing for you Cardinal fans, but the Wildcats get a big "W" and a big "U" Win and upset, respectively. No Randolph Morris? No problem. Smooth sailing for the 'cats. (73-61; KENTUCKY)

"Ann Arbor Anarchy" #14 UCLA at Michigan
It's time for Wolverines basketball. If you love Big Blue on the gridiron, you may be VERY interested in Wolverines on the hardwood. Michigan may not have as dominating of a prescence as in football, but they still have a chance to upset #14 UCLA. Where there's probably frigid temperatures and snow, Los Angeles was likely enjoying some 70 or 60 degree weather. The Bruins have to adjust to December weather in Michigan. Freezing their asses off, it's time to see how made things hot in Ann Arbor. By the way, Big Blue is Big Maize in basketball, as they sport yellow instead of navy blue.
(68-61; California-Los Angeles)

"Remodelling Needed" Tennessee at Texas
Texas lost a big game against Duke on the road. Now coming home, the Longhorns look to impale their horns right into Tennessee. The Volunteers, however, aren't at all impressed. Texas sort of made the game close, but in the end, undefeated Tennessee remained unbeaten. Who's going to stop Tennessee? (95-78; Tennessee)

* Mideastern at George Washington
One of the success stories of college hoops is George Washington University. They have done quite well this season and may go as far as the first or second round of the NCAA Tourney. The Colonials hope to be a Sweet Sixteen contender at best. But that's March. Don't let December be March. Mideastern is looking to give some long faces to GWU. But for the Colonials, it's easy money. No contest. Drive home safely. (98-72; GEORGE WASHINGTON)

"Long Road Ahead" Santa Clara at North Carolina
Let's start a road trip from California to North Carolina. This is no problem if you're a Bronco. The state of North Carolina is basically college basketball heaven. And you could call the Tar Heels the gods of this Heaven. The pearly gates await all college basketball powers who dare threaten the Tar Heel nation (including Duke). In the end, Santa Clara got exorcised for their sins of trying to mess with North Carolina.
(76-58; NORTH CAROLINA)

* Arizona State at Iowa
Arizona State is good... in Women's Basketball. The men's team are no Arizona, but don't tell the Sun Devils they can't play basketball. The Iowa Hawkeyes know they can play half-court with the best of them... they just had some big losses. But not against Arizona State as this was a blowout. (62-43; IOWA)

* Harvard at Albany
The Harvard Crimson took down the Great Danes of Albany. Not so great after this game, seems like. (61-48; Harvard)

* High Point at Longwood
The Longwood Lancers put up 72 on the High Point Panthers, but HP took down the Lancers by winning with 88. Next! (88-72; High Point)

"Will.I.Am. We Are!" Willam and Mary at UMBC
The spread was a two-possession score as the UMBC Retrivers retrived a great win over William and Mary's Tribe. (64-60; MARYLAND-BALTIMORE COUNTY)

* Indiana State at Butler
Whereas the Indiana State Sycamores beautifully stunk in football, their basketball team is currentely 5-0 looking to take on an Iowa school. Not the Big Ten team, but Butler. The Des Moines crew want to hand the Sycamores a big loss. It isn't easy for the Bulldogs to pull it off. Doesn't mean that they won't give her a shot, right? So let's see if Indiana State remains undefeated. One point spread, but it is still enough to win and still enough to stay undefeated. (59-58; Indiana State)

"Kings of Queens" Marist vs. St. John's (Madison Square Garden; New York City, NY)
Puoghkeepsie, NY is home to Marist College. You may have seen this team in my football reports. The Red Foxes want you to see their basketball team if you know about their football program. Marist's Red Foxes were also in the Metro-Atlantic Athletic Conference's (MAAC) Women's Soccer Championship game. So, they've been around. As of late, another New York team has struggled. And that would be St. John's University in Jamaica, NY. Or for some of us, a school within the greater New York City metropolitan area. It's actually in Queens from maps that I've seen of NYC. I'd love to visit New York City one day, even if it's to see the Red Storm try to bounce back after several complications in the past. St. John's continues to downgrade themselves. Perhaps a coaching change or something is needed to help out the boys from the NYC area. (56-53; Marist)

* Southern at Oklahoma
The Southern Jaguars of Baton Rouge, LA returned home saddened by losing to Oklahoma. Bookout and company doing the job for the Sooners. (68-54; OKLAHOMA)

* Northern Colorado at Loyola Marymount.
FINALLY! Loyola Marymount stops the losing bleed as the Lions pounded the Bears. Where can you find LMU? Right! Los Angeles, CA. (76-63; LOYOLA MARYMOUNT)

"Pit-Fighters" Oregon at New Mexico
Both of these teams have tough places to play at. For Oregon, it's The Pit. For New Mexico it's... The Pit. Do you remember "Mortal Kombat?" There was a zone called "The Pit." If you uppercut someone after beating him/her, they'll fall to their... well, let's keep things family-friendly. I won't tell. Anyhow, the Oregon Ducks proven they had a great football team. Now let's see how the basketball squad does. New Mexico's Lobos are exciting on grass or on wood. (68-61; NEW MEXICO)

* Georgia at Oregon State
From Oregon to Oregon State. The Beavers beaten a team that's done surprisingly well- the Georgia Bulldogs. (64-60; OREGON STATE)

"Just Kitty-ing!" Vermont at Pittsburgh
The Pitt Panthers proved to be a better bunch of felines over Vermont. Meowing and purring after the win, Pitt moved on to warm the hearts of many cat lovers. Way to go, Steel City Kitties! (63-52; PITTSBURGH)

"Sport Ute-ilities" Arizona at Utah
This was a blowout. Look at what the Arizona Wildcats did to the poor Utah Utes! Oh, my God! (73-43; Arizona)

* Princeton at Wake Forest
Wake Forest woke up big time as the Demon Deacons silenced the Princeton Tigers. (61-42; WAKE FOREST)

"Beauty and the Beasts San Francisco at Marquette
You know how I keep saying "beautiful San Francisco?" Well, the Dons of San Fran took an ugly loss to Marquette. Pretty creatures, aren't Golden Eagles? (61-48; MARQUETTE)

* Texas Tech at UNLV! ---Las Vegas Showdown, Las Vegas, NV (! = host school)
The game was deadlocked at 34 at the end if the first half. The first half solved nothing. Afterwards, what the hell happened to the Red Raiders? UNLV coasted to a big win. Both schools needed a win desperately. But, more work for Bob Knight and his boys. (-; NEVADA-LAS VEGAS!)

* #25 Houston at South Alabama
Sad news for Houston Cougar fans. As the Coogs were being ranked at one point, they lose one to USA. No, not America. But the University of South Alabama. Jags win in a close fight. It's a tough break for the recently-ranked Houston squad. That's okay. There's plenty of season left. Get back in the race, Houston. Still a chance. As for South Alabama, great job. (66-62; SOUTH ALABAMA)

* DePaul at Old Dominion
Being from the Windy City of Chicago, DePaul knows a lot about things blowing. Well, the Blue Demons were ready to scare the daylights out of Old Dominion. Too bad the Monarchs blew THEM away! No contest, folks. (87-43; OLD DOMINION)

* Elon at IUPUI
Elon's Phoenix fell to the IUPUI Jaguars. If you don't know what IUPUI means, look at the score. Of course, I spell out teams that win, so if you don't know what IUPUI means, tell a friend you've learned something, because now you know why the school is abbreviated. (58-57; INDIANA UNIVERSITY-PURDUE UNIVERSITY-INDIANAPOLIS)

* Stetson at Georgetown
The Florida Boys are the Stetson Hatters. They'll be returning the Florida Sunshine after losing to the Georgetown Hoyas in Washington D.C. (70-50; GEORGETOWN)

* Virginia at #10 Gonzaga
Spokane, WA came alive as the Gonzaga Bulldogs sent Virginia's Cavaliers packing... in their Chevy Cavaliers. Shame, isn't it? (80-69; GONZAGA)

* Wisconsin-Green Bay at Wisconsin-Milwaukee
I guess you can call this a Rivalry Game. These are two Wisconsin schools in Division 1 that are part of a great state for sports. The Wisconsin-Green Bay Packers... I'm sorry. I'm thinking football... Anyhow, the Wisconsin-Green Bay Phoenix are looking to head into a their tougher Horizon League rivals. Sporting their green and white, they met Wisconsin-Milwaukee. At best, the Panthers could be an NIT pick, but with some more big upsets, they could be in the NCAA tourney come March. Regardless, this was going to be another classic. Two dimes was the difference as Wisconsin-Milwaukee HANDILY walked off with the win. (80-60; WISCONSIN-MILWAUKEE)

WOMEN'S DIVISION
"An Army of Five" Baylor at Army
Baylor's Bears were too much for Army's Lady Black Knights. Or Lady Cadets... can women be Knights? (85-68; Baylor)

"Fresh Produce" Coastal Carolina at North Carolina
It was easy money as the Lady Tar Heels shown their baby blue in beating the Lady Chanticleers of Coastal Carolina. (98-41; NORTH CAROLINA)

* #23 North Carolina State at #22 Utah
Higher-ranked Utah's Lady Utes downed the North Carolina State Lady Wolfpack. (73-62)

* IPFW at Xavier
The Indiana-Purdue-Fort Wayne Lady Mastodons are a good basketball team. Not good enough against Cincinatti, OH's Xavier Lady Musketeers, though. (77-49; XAVIER)

* Huston-Tillotson at Lamar
Montagne Center is home to this matchup in Beaumont, TX. The Lamar Lady Cardinals saw red, turned red, and beaten down their opposition. (87-64; LAMAR)

ANNOUNCEMENT
Since so many games happen, I decided to can my usual commentary like I do with football. I have to try to find a way to give you all scores, but give you all a chance to respond to the week in college hoops. I don't want to just give out scores, I want to try to get you all to interact. I do my scores very late because some games may be in progress (especially West Coast games), and don't want to leave them behind. What I'll try to do is offer some post-day commentary. So after each day, I offer some commentary about the week in college hoops. See if that works.

MY COMMENTARY:
Louisville and Texas both suffered big losses. * Louisville never lead against the Wildcats in their rivalry game. And I don't know. Were the Cardinals not at their best, or did Kentucky show Louisville how to play basketball? Rupp Arena was COMPLETELY LOUD for this game. Funny enough, it's the second-largest turnout in Rupp Arena. You think I'm buying that, player? I don't think so! * Texas lost to Duke and now to Tennessee. But you know what? As long as they don't lose too many more games, they can still make the NCAA tournament. This isn't like football where if you completely dominate, you're almost GUARANTEED a playoff spot/bowl game bid. Texas is in the postseason in football, now it's time for the Horns to make something happen in their 100th year of hoops. * St. John's needs some help. Losing game after game won't get you into the NCAA or even the NIT. As of right now, their win-loss record is now 5-3. They finished 9-18 last year, so they are only four more away from tying their wins last year. Guess what? It's going to get much worse for the Red Storm because they have to travel to #1 Duke this coming Wednesday. Poor Red Storm... * Tough break for my hometown's best team, the Houston Cougars. For the first time since 1992 and 1993, the Coogs were ranked. The 2005-2006 Coogs made it to #25, but fall to South Alabama. The Coogs have these next five matches: @ UNLV (12/20), @ North Texas (12/23; also the day Houston's football team plays Kansas in the Fort Worth Bowl), Rhode Island (12/27), and McNeese State (12/31). First game of 2006 for Houston is January 3rd at Centenary College.

The next round of games is coming soon. And as usual, I take Sunday off, and let you sound off while I prepare the next college hoops thread. I will also be busy with Bowl Games as well. I'll try to kill two birds with one stone as best as possible between now and the Rose Bowl. See you!
