GTPlanet, with the Houston Cougars, this gave me an idea to talk about one of the more popular units in college hoops. There was a time when the University of Houston had over 26 wins until losing to the North Carolina State Wolfpack in 1983 or 1984. Houston's kind of getting back on the rise nowadays for both the men and the women, but this thread is about the men who made it to the Final Four in 1983 and 1984, even that upset loss to North Carolina Stats, which would have given Houston its first National Championship rather than win National Championships only in golf.

More information on this classic team can be found in this link:

When this championship game was around, I was about 3 months old! If only Houston didn't take this hellacious upset... Anyhow, if you want to talk about maybe one of the best University of Houston men's units of all time, talk about it here. Of course, Clyde Drexler and Hakeem "The Dream" Olajuwon would advance to NBA fame giving the Houston Rockets about... I don't know... two back-to-back championships in 1993-1994 and 1994-1995? Oh, those were the days. The Houston Cougars having a great run this season, so let's see how far they progress. Anything higher than the Second Round of the NCAA Tournament would make their season incredible. And if they don't make it to the NCAA Tournament, then a great NIT run would be wonderful consolation. Care to get this lookback going? Reply away.
