GTPlanet, here's a nice thread to think about what would happen if two different teams played on one day or one night. This can range from tournament matches to simple non-conference matches. Think about if the two teams played. On top of that, who would win the game and by how much? GTPlanet, I'll start you off with two big games:
What if...
A.) ...Gonzaga played at Duke?
The two biggest stars this season are Adam Morrison of Gonzaga University, and J.J. Redick of Duke. Keep in mind that it's tougher to play at Duke than it is at Gonzaga. The Gonzaga Bulldogs are really establishing themselves as of late, and for them to challenge Duke would be a dream match. If there wasn't a such thing as a schedule, and if picking matches was like setting up WWE matches, Gonzaga and Duke would be a hellacious game matching up against these two. If I were to decide, here are scores I think would happen:
(86-83; DUKE), (76-54; DUKE), (101-100, OT; Gonzaga)
B.) ...George Washington played at Georgetown?
At least you know one thing, a "George" will win. But which one? George Washington is superbly underrated by America. When you think of college hoops, you are thinking of the conferences you've heard of in Division 1-A football. You know, ACC, SEC, Big East, Big XII, Conference USA, that sort of thing. But in basketball, there's a conference in Division 1-AA that has some good teams on the hardwood. For one, you got George Washington. The Colonials are being great sleepers, and for them to hit it off against another Washington, D.C. school is huge. Georgetown is on the rise in the Big East. They are showing life for the first time since the mid-1980s. Georgetown has done very well as of late. In fact, they've knocked off #1 Duke for God's sake! If they played, it would look like this:
(79-71; GEORGETOWN), (58-56; George Washington), (88-87, 2OT; GEORGETOWN)
Just like that. If they played right now, who would win? Let's think about great matchups, whether in conference or outside of conference. I mentioned two non-conference games already, so you have a head start.
