GTPlanet, this is a specialty college basketball thread about Division 1's Big Five of Philadelphia and an arena you may know called The Palestra. What big five? Well, here they are:
Saint Jospeh's University (Atlantic 10)
Temple University (Atlantic 10)
Villanova (Big East)
University of Pennsylvania (Ivy League)
La Salle University (Metro-Atlantic Athletic Conference)
There's also the City Six, which is the Big Five, plus add Drexel University.
All five of these teams represent Philadelphia's Big Five, which makes for an extra special rivalry in The City of Brotherly Love. Probably the best team up there would be Saint Joseph's. Of course, it's also referred to as "St. Joe's." If you want to talk about the history of Philly's Big Five, talk about your favorite Philadelphia team, or even The Palestra, go right ahead.
