GTPlanet, college hoops season is underway. While I don't have enough scores to dish out to everyone for this week's games, allow me to talk a little college hoops in the exotic locale of Hawaii.
Well people, it's time to get ready for sun and surf, even if this is football weather in the Lower 48. So get the sunglasses, try to impress your peers by wearing those T-shirts in which you lie about being an actual surfer, throw on some flip-flops, because it's time for the Maui Invitational, perhaps the biggest tournament other than March Madness. The event takes place in the beautiful city of Honolulu, HI on the campus of Division 2 school Chaminade University. Chaminade is ever famous for their 1980s game against the #1 ranked Virginia Cavaliers. The Chaminade Silverswords were horrible, dismal, and stood literally no chance against the Cavaliers. But somehow, someway, the Silverswords knocked off the Cavaliers in a stellar upset. Now, this Preseason tournament welcomes eight teams in a deep field. How deep? Six of the teams were National Champions before.
In my college basketball tournament preview thread, you may have seen me introduce the teams. The teams are Arizona, Arkansas, Connecticut, Gonzaga, Kansas, Maryland, Michigan State, and Chaminade- the hosting school. I know one of the first games is Michigan State vs. Chaminade. In the future, I will update this thread with more information after the games are done and I get a chance to post my findings. Until then, do you have a favorite in this tournament?
