GTPlanet, it may be too early to think about this now, but it's a nice issue we'll want to follow as we are in Week 6. The player who wins Heisman will be the one who outshines others in excellence on the field, and likely off the field as well. The Heisman winner last year was U. of Southern California's QB Matt Leinart. Before Leinart, it was Jason White (I still thought Larry Fitzgerald (Pittsburgh)) should have won last year. So who should be considered this year? Who's going to win this year?

Also to think about, this thread is also open to discussion of the 2005 All-Americans. The 2005 All-Americans will initiate a collection of the nation's best players on offense, on defense, and in special teams. If you make the All-Americans crew as a player, you have proven your worth to America at your position. If you make the 1st Team All-American, you're basically the real deal. But if you make it to 2nd Team or whatever, you're still good. If you want to think about who your picks would be for All-Americans, or if you know who will make the All-Americans, then you are free to do so in this preview thread.

Last, but not least, the thread on All-Conference players. What I mean by this is, "2005 all Big-Ten," "2005 all-Big XII," "2005 all-ACC," and that sort of thing. Care to share your picks to your favorite conference?

Three items for preview here. I'd like to use this thread to also serve as the results for the two big fields- the Heisman race, and the All-American selctions. The All-Conference deal is kind of an alternative for discussion. Why don't we preview the big honors at year's end?

The Heisman presentation is December 10th. Race seems to come down to:

Matt Leinart (USC Trojans, QB)
Reggie Bush (USC Trojans, RB)
Vince Young (Texas, QB)
Brady Quinn (Notre Dame, QB)

Who you like for next week's Heisman selection?

Alright! The votes are in, so meet your winner of the John Heisman Trophy winner for 2005:

WINNER:
Reggie Bush 784 1st Place Votes, 2541 pts.
SEMI FINALISTS:
Vince Young - 79 1st Place Votes; 1,608 pts.
Matt Leinart - 18 1st Place Votes; 797 pts.

GTPlanet, you are free to congratulate the Heisman winner and talk about his road to the top. Or do you think someone else should have won the Heisman trophy (much like I thought Larry Fitzgerald should have won over Jason White)? Again, my congratulations to {Matt Leinart_Reggie Bush_Vince Young}, the 2005 Heisman winner.

By the way, this is also the Golden Anniversary of Howard "Hopalong" Cassidy winning the Heisman trophy back in 1955.

As promised, it's time to meet your 2005 All-Americans!

Coming up soon, I will release my Bowl Game thread. So see you then. Until then, congratulate or comment on the 2005 All-Americans.

To start off, I was disappointed to hear that there were only three Heisman candidates. I personally considered it somewhat an insult to the rest of the players that had been considered earlier in the year, such as Brady Quinn for example. I know that sounds harsh, but for some odd reason, that's how I feel.
And personally, I think Michael Robinson (Penn State) should have at least been nominated. Then again, I'm a Penn State fan, so my wishes are slightly biased. :P

But congrats to Reggie Bush on a spectacular season and I wish him all the luck next year if he enters the NFL draft.
And its good to see two Penn State defensive players on the All-American team. Not surprising, though, as it is considered "Linebacker U." But in all seriousness, Paul Posluszny and Tamba Hali both had great seasons.

I can't wait for Bowl Week to come around. The Championship game should be a nice matchup. And I get to root for my favorite team again - Penn State.
GO LIONS!

Yo, Reggie Bush is the best. I play running back, (same position as him) and in NCAA 2006, I chose to be a QB instead of a running back so I could use him, and me, that shows that hes good. I dont know If youll see, but eh, Its a fan thing. GO USC. BEAT TEXAS!
