This is just a small intro to kick off Week 14 of college football action. I want to get this thread underway so that we can discuss Week 14 action. Some big rivalry games are coming this Saturday including:

* Army vs. Navy
* USCal vs. UCLA
* California vs. Stanford

Let's talk Week 14!

COLLEGE FOOTBALL NEWS AND NOTES
* Mike Shula Canned
There is a "Coast2Coach" show on CSTV (College Sports Television) which highlights Alabama Football. The show usually features Mike Shula talking about the weekend in college football for the Crimson Tide. Well, Shula won't be in the house anymore as Alabama fired Mike Shula.

* Dantonio to Michigan State's Rescue
Cincinatti coach, Mark Dantonio, has accepted the job to coach for Michigan State. Michigan State went from dominant to washed-up has-been in short order. Their only true highlight for 2006 was when they trailed by very many points until they came back to beat Northwestern on the road. They let an upset win against Notre Dame slip through their fingers like trying to pick up a clump of sand with your hands. Doesn't sand slip away from your fingers eventually? My point exactly.

* Iowa State Gets Chizik
Texas Defensive Coordinator, Gene Chizik, accepted the Iowa State coaching job. The Cyclones also need a lot of

* TCU and Utah Accept Bowl Bids
Two Mountain West schools accepted invitations to play in the Bowl Season. Texas Christian University will play in the San Diego Credit Union Poinsettia Bowl. The Horned Frogs were highly-ranked and multiple-times winners of games including an upset win over Texas Tech. They've fallen apart since. But not Miami or Florida State falling apart. Meanwhile, Utah will play in the Bell Helicopter Armed Forces Bowl.

* Rice to New Orleans Bowl
The Bowl season kicks off with the New Orleans Bowl. As much as I dislike Rice in every sport (except baseball), I'm proud of the Owls. My concern for next year lies in if Rice can beat Houston in next year's Battle for the Bayou Bucket.

* Western Michigan Going to Canada
West Michigan will play in the first-ever Internation Bowl in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Toronto is one of my favorite cities in Canada. Western Michigan's Broncos are ready to toss up the pig skin and show Canada how America does football (college at least). I don't know if the CFL's Toronto Argonauts will be watching this game or not. Surely the Sky Dome will be glad to see some action hosted in Toronto.

- Emerald Bowl Set:
Florida State vs. UCLA
Florida State will meet UCLA in the Emerald Bowl. The Seminoles are in a place and position no one thought FlSU would be. Last season, Florida State played in a classic FedEx Orange Bowl match against a resurgent Pennsylvania State. This game was a coaching battle between Bobby Bowden and Joe Paterno. UCLA has a date with their Victory Bell rivals of Southern California. The Bruins can be a surprising team at times. They were usually the doormat of California football. UCLA is best known for their legendary men's basketball team under the wing of John Wooden. Now UCLA will have someone to look up to when the Emerald Bowl match ensues later in December.

COACHING "SILLY SEASON" CONTINUES
* Chris Shelfo (Tulane coach) was fired after their subpar season.

JOHN'S EXTRAS

--- MESSING WITH SASQUATCH SUMO ---
Tiger Woods was featured on ESPNEWS' Hot List. The 12-time Majors champion has tested out a BIG Driver made Nike called the SasQuatch Sumo. Word has it that this driver can whack a golf ball over 400 yards! From a collegiate standpoint, he is a proud alum of Stanford University. I'm sure Woods wants his Cardinal to beat California this Saturday as the Stanford Axe is up for grabs.

Let's keep this week's action going. You're free to comment at will.

There will be action between Thursday and the end of Saturday. Teams have accepted Bowl Game bids up to this point. Coaches have been moved around and fired. And Bowl Season is a long ways away. The Heisman race sees the checkered flag next week. In Los Angeles, they are preparing not only for the USCal/UCLA match, but also the 2006 Los Angeles Motor Show. I got a deal for you all reading this. How would you like to go to Detroit, Michigan? I'll virtually take you there. Why go to Detroit? It's because we have a championship game between two MAC schools. And in my "John's Extras" segment, I did something for the very first time in my life. What did I do? Read on to find out.

WEEK 14 - THURSDAY SYNOPSIS
Detroit played host to the Mid-American Conference championship game. A very popular coach played up against a Michigan-based team that hasn't won any postseason action in their history.

DIVISION 1-A GAMES

*+x Mid-American Conference Championship Game x+*

* Central Michigan {Chippewas} vs. Ohio {Bobcats}
This is one of only a few Conference Championship games. We begin in Detroit at Ford Field. You know, Detroit is a city I wouldn't mind visiting. A lot of people consider Detroit as the Motor City. The Motor capital of America. There's great boxing lineage as Joe Louis took Detroit by storm. You can watch a great hockey game as you can see the Detroit Red Wings show every other NHL team who REALLY rules the ice. You can see the Detroit Pistons rain down bucket after bucket. Or if the NBA doesn't tickle your fancy, you can see the University of Detroit's Titans play college basketball in the Horizon League. But we're at Ford Field. The Detroit Lions have been good in their past. Nowadays, they are the Oakland Raiders of the Midwest. On top of that, the greater Detroit area doesn't have a team uphold the honor of Detroit. Only team closest to Detroit that has a football team is Ypsilanti, Michigan's Eastern Michigan University. The EMU Eagles have had a horrible year. While Eastern Michigan is a MAC school, they aren't Central Michigan. Central Michigan will meet Ohio for MAC title honors. Central Michigan University can be found in Mount Pleasant, MI. Mount Pleasant is about 60 miles north of Michigan's capitali city of Lansing. Their nickname was under fire by the NCAA because of the Native American Indian nicknames. But Central Michigan retained their nickname of the Chippewas. A team that need not NCAA review for a nickname is Ohio. The University of Ohio should not be confused with Ohio State University. Ohio State is the pure power of the state of Ohio. However, [the University of] Ohio is one of the very capable schools in college football. The state of Ohio has the most 1-A teams of any state in America. They have about seven or eight teams. So it does sweet justice that one of Ohio's many teams find their way to Detroit for a MAC Championship. It will be a true honor if the Bobcats can win themselves a MAC title. This game saw Central Michigan put up about 17 points over Ohio before the Bobcats clawed their way back. Afterwards, Central Michigan continued the blowout just to win their first postseason game of any kind. My congratulations to the Central Michigan boys. (31-10; Central Michigan)

JOHN'S EXTRAS

--- JOHN GAVE BLOOD ---
That's what I've done as of Thursday morning. I technically didn't have a class at my community college today. What I have done was donate blood for someone who may need a blood transfusion to have their lives saved. I'll present you the long version in a blog I've done. But here's the short version. I had to start off by filling out a form with questions asking stuff like if I've had a blood transfusion and certain sex questions related to blood. I later had a hole poked into the tip of my ring finger on my left hand. I later had to wait my opportunity to get that needle stuck into my left arm. What happened was that the very kind nurse wrapped up my upper left arm. You know, like when doctor wraps up part of your arm to check your blood pressure. She then put badine(?) on my left arm. She later marked off points in my left arm so she could track the blood vein she wanted to work with. She asked me to take a deep breath because she poked a hole into my left arm. That s:censored: hurt! I had this ball to squeeze on so that I had something to grab onto and maybe pump as much blood out in a fast manner. In the end, I had a little picture taken by the school of me on the contraption so I could give blood. I kind of felt like a better person in that I know I probably saved someone's life just by simply giving blood. I've even told people about how I felt giving blood as well as briefly describing the process. So if you're able to give blood, I'd like for you to please help save someone's life by simply giving blood.

--- THERE'S A SUCH THING AS A "SHOPOHOLIC?" ---
Perhaps you've been around malls and stuff seeing girls' shirts talking about shopping. Some are very much involved in shopping that it gets to a deal of constantly spending money and messing up credit card limits. A show on the Style Network called "Maxed Out" focused in on people (mostly women) who had a serious addiction to shopping. "Oh, I got to get that! It's cute!" All until the money runs dangerously low. Scary, isn't it?

--- JOHN... FROM AOL... TO PeoplePC? ---
My parents are trying to set me up to go to PeoplePC and leave behind AOL. I'm sort of okay with this since I haven't been chatting much. However, it is probably not a good deal because I have the AOL-supplied anti-virus stuff working on my computer. I changed it all up since I didn't want to be mixed up with a Norton AntiVirus trial deal or get mixed up with AVG Anti-Virus. This was around a time when I basically had to do a System Restore to restore my software. So I've been using the AOL stuff in keeping my PC safe. But I'll see what will happen.

--- ARCTIC BLAST ---
Around 9AM CST, it felt like a typical 70-degree day here in Houston. But while my brother was picking oranges from my next door neighbors' trees, it got deceptively cold. My brother even had to race back to my house to get a jacket. One girl I seen at school dressed for summer- Abercrombie T-Shirt, Hollister shorts, flip-flop sandals... you bet she was freezing. So I probably can't stress enough that weather can change at the snap of a finger.

TOMORROW:
Find out who will win the Conference USA Championship as C-USA action will take place right here in Houston. It's Houston playing against Southern Mississippi!

Friday Night is ready to roll. We have ourselves college football action in the city of Houston, TX. Oh wait... that's my home town! I'm bringing your butts to my hometown where temperatures were in the 30s after an Arctic Blast returned actual FALL weather to Houston instead of the warmer weather we've experienced.

WEEK 14 - FRIDAY SYNOPSIS
The city of Houston could be able to experience two things that hasn't happened in at least a decade- a potential 10-win season and Houston's first C-USA title since 1996. Impeding their progress was Southern Mississippi. The winner will get a chance to play in the Autozone Liberty Bowl to meet an SEC team. With a record crowd at the home stadium, serious joy or endless pain will ensue judging on how the home crowd reacts to the Home Team's performance.

DIVISION 1-A GAMES

Conference USA Championship Game

"Rise to Honor" Southern Mississippi -Golden Eagles- at Houston -Cougars-
Last night saw the MAC Championship game won by Central Michigan. Now it's the C-USA title game since Houston wrapped up the C-USA Home Field Advantage. We go from a chilly Detroit to a somewhat chilly Houston. I almost always call the city of Houston as "America's Most Underrated Big City." This is a city of over 4.1 million people with a number of great attractions and some nice places to visit. You have the Toyota Center where you can see the Houston Rockets take on the NBA's other teams. You can see a former WNBA Dynasty and Team of the Decade with the Houston Comets. You can see the Houston Astros try to make a postseason run as well as the Houston Texans trying to get some blood pumping in the NFL. You can also see the Houston Dynamo probably defend their title with honor. Houston has so much. You can even go to places like the Texas Medical Center (largest medical center of any city in the world), the beautiful Houston Galleria shopping mega-mall, the Astrodome (the Reliant Astrodome nowadays, and various other attractions. It's the birthplace of famous people like Hilary Duff, Vince Young, A.J. Foyt, the "Texas Tornado" Colin Edwards, Destiny's Child, King Booker, the Undertaker, George Foreman, Carl Lewis, and many more. The day I've longed for is when Houston can go back to winning championships as well as being a better-respected city. Not a lot of people normally think of this as a pretty nice city. When the Super Bowl was in Houston back in 2004, ESPN Show "Around the Horn" had a "Buy or Sell" segment that asked if Houston was a good city to host a Super Bowl. J.A. Adande of the Los Angeles Times said that Houston is basically Los Angeles without the traffic. This is still a city I was born and raised in and love. I love Houston. I've endured Tropical Storm Allison and a bunch of other things. So what if this if this city doesn't have the sort of amenities that is like a sunny day in SoCal? So what if it isn't as recognizable as taxis in New York City or lowriders in Anaheim, CA? It's a city I'll proudly represent no matter where I am in the world or in space. Just hope for recognition one day. Recognition is something the University of Houston hopes to acheive. They'll meet the University of Southern Mississippi for the title.

On October 14th, Southern Miss continued Houston's losing streak at three games by beating them 31-27. Now the University of Houston is looking to keep a great thing going. Houston has had some stars in its time. One of their biggest was Andre Ware, who won the Heisman in 1989. There was Phi Slamma Jamma in the 1980s (that should have won at least one NCAA title). There's been a number of great golfers that won the title for Houston. Now the Houston Cougars are enjoying perhaps the school's best form of dominance since the 1980s and early-mid 1990s. Is Houston football back? Art Briles and Kevin Kolb thinks so. This was also something prideful for my hometown boys- having some other teams considered as underdogs against Houston. So we can brag a bit. But we still need to produce on the football field, especially since the graduating seniors will likely play their final game in college as Houston hopes new recruits check in to give Houston insurance in terms of getting more talent to fill the shoes of this year's graduating team. Enough about Houston. Now let's meet Southern Mississippi (yeah, go ahead and say "thank God" like I'm a serious homer). The University of Southern Mississippi can be found in Hattiesburg, MS. Hattiesburg is just over 70 miles north northwest of Biloxi. They normally have a great football team every year. Whereas Houston had Andre Ware and David K., Southern Mississippi had Brett Favre- a future NFL Hall of Famer. And a proud Golden Eagle. Now the new generation of Golden Eagles aim to thwart Houston and end their magical 2006 campaign. The winner of this game gets to play in the Liberty Bowl on December 29th. The loser gets to play in the GMAC Bowl against Ohio. A COLD and wintry Houston night saw a record of crowd of 31,818 pack the house and fill the night air with Cougar pride. Houston trailed 10-7 after the first quarter. They trailed again at the Half 17-13. But in the Third Quarter, Houston led 27-17. And at game's end, Houston surpassed all their expectations and are going to the Liberty Bowl to play someone from the SEC. Some sources say that Houston could be playing South Carolina or Kentucky. And wouldn't it be funny if Houston plays Kentucky in football well before their men's basketball match at Rupp Arena? Cougars, you have my full and total support. You guys kicked some mad ass and had perhaps the best Cougar unit since the mid-1990s. (34-20; HOUSTON)

JOHN'S EXTRAS

--- RANT ON HOUSTON ---
The Houston Cougars have won the Conference USA Championship. But allow me to talk about college football in Houston. If you ask me, the Houston Cougars have been the best team in the city of Houston for a long while. Being a native Houstonian, I couldn't be any more proud for Houston football this season. Houston finishes 10-3 after this game. Whether or not they will be 11-3 or 10-4 depends on how they play in Memphis for the Autozone Liberty Bowl. As much as I'm proud of Houston, I must also hand respect to Houston's rivals at Rice University. The Owls are going to make their first bowl game in about 45 years. They finished 6-5 and had a great game against the Houston Cougars in a losing effort. Great job by Rice as they are going to play the Sun Belt Champion in the New Orleans Bowl. Houston has only one 1-AA team- Texas Southern. I've admittedly knocked the Texas Southern Tigers a lot. But they really surprised me this year. I wasn't expecting TSU to beat Prairie View A&M in Week 1 at Reliant Stadium. Nor was I expecting Texas Southern to beat a couple of other teams. They even had a close game against Texas State of the Southland Conference. Texas Southern finished much better than they've played in the past. I couldn't be any more happier for all three of my hometown college football teams. Now if Houston Baptist University (an NAIA team) had a football team and they did well, then I'd love to hand them credit as well. But Houston may finally get some love for the first time in a long time. Houston Cougar football is back. Rice Owl football never looked better. Houston college football is BACK, and I'm damned proud as a born-and-raised Houstonian.

--- SPEED SHOWS SEMA THIS SUNDAY ---
Highlights of the SEMA show from Las Vegas will be shown on Speed Channel this Sunday evening (9PM EST maybe). It's where you'll see some of the hottest gadgets and such for your automobile. All kinds of cool cars will be shown. Plus, Gran Turismo fans will get to see the 3G Corvette. Go into the GTHD forums to know why it's called the 3G Corvette as well as get pictures of it. I'll likely check out this SEMA footage to see what the heck these crazy car people had to show this year.

TOMORROW:

The GAMES OF THE WEEK will be all the conference championships unfolding. But please don't forget the rivalries left over as well as other matchups. Maybe the two biggest rivalries will be Army vs. Navy as well as Southern California taking on UCLA. See you then!

What a weekend. I would have liked to have seen Army win, but I knew it wasnt possible. They put up a great fight..

USC sucks. hahahha.

BCS nightmare.

Im happy that my Buckeyes are sitting back and watching the crazyness..

This is December 2nd, and the final week of regular season 1-A football. Get ready for college football at full throttle. Even though we are at full throttle, I'll pilot this speed demon in our Internet road trip.

WEEK 14 - SATURDAY SYNOPSIS
The majority of games played today were either conference championship games or heated rivalries. A Top 5 school took a saddening loss as the door is pretty much wide open for a few other teams to play for a National Championship. A few games were completely low in scoring. One team picked up a huge win in a conference championship game including two big rivalries on both American coasts.

FOOTBALL BOWL SUBDIVISION GAMES
Remember I said that my Game of the Week are all conference championships. I changed my mind. An upset in today will be the Game of the Week. So let's begin with the SEC and move on.

--- Championship Package ---
*+x SEC Conference Championship Game: Georgia Dome; Atlanta, GA x+*

"The Last Ride" #8 Arkansas -Razorbacks- vs. #4 Florida -Gators-
This has been a real surprising year of college football. Whoever would have thought that Arkansas would make so much noise this season? Who would have thought that Georgia would stumble? Or what about Kentucky returning to Bowl action in almost a decade? Let's try to stay within SEC talk here. Welcome to Atlanta where the players play and footballs fly like every day. Hip-hop and pop cultures call it "the A.T.L." Some call it "Hot-lanta." But it's football action in Atlanta, GA. The Atlanta Falcons have struggled this season in the pro ranks. The Atlanta Hawks are the damndest disappointment usually every year in recent times. Nothing like Atlanta Braves baseball or Atlanta Thrashers hockey. You can go due north of Atlanta to enjoy racing at Road Atlanta. You can enjoy regular racing on this course or even the famed Petit Le Mans, the youngest bigtime endurance in the world. It's also the hometown (not birthplace) of WWE wrestler Chris Benoit. There isn't really much college football in Atlanta except Clark Atlanta University (Division 2), Morehouse College (Division 2) and of course, Georgia Tech. You also have a school considering football with Georgia State University. They may get their football soon since the CAA will sponsor football as the Atlantic 10 will drop football. But on to this game in the SEC. Kind of sucks that Georgia didn't get to play at the Georgia Dome in playing in front of their home state folk. Let's meet two teams that didn't stumble (and I greatly respect Georgia). Arkansas was the little SEC team that could. NO ONE could have scripted Arkansas to be the class of the SEC West against teams like their rivals at LSU. Did you? Probably not. You were likely thinking Arkansas would be Mississippi State-bad. But the Razorbacks shown to be an incredible surprise. To my knowledge, Arkansas has never won the National Championship. I even checked in my Sports Illustrated College Sports Almanac (accurate as of 2002-2003), and they were nowhere to be found as far as National Champions in football. Let's meet the collegiate squad that Georgia hates- Florida. Florida's been on a thrill ride. They are the defending National Champions in men's basketball. Their football team is ready to potentially go to a BCS Bowl Game. Times are happy in Gainesville. Some of you may know that I have great respect for Urban Meyer. He is a magician. He'll make the unreal look completely real and feasible. Feasible for Florida would be the Buckeyes looking into the eyes of the Florida Gators for the title. Meyer took one team to a BCS bowl. Can he take this one to a much higher ground? Any of you remember that song by Creed called "Can You Take Me Higher?" Florida's going to somebody's BCS Bowl. Which one they will go to depends on the results of the Bowl Selection Show on Sunday night. (38-28; #4 Florida)

*+x Atlantic Coast Conference Championship Game: Alltel Stadium; Jacksonville, FL x+*

"Jack Daddies" #1? Wake Forest -Demon Deacons- vs. #1? Georgia Tech -Yellow Jackets-
The ACC title game is going to take place as a surprising year of college football continues. While the SEC saw its share of weird stories, the ACC is no different. Some things still remain the same. For example, Duke football is the Savannah State of 1-A even though Savannah State actually WON some games this season. Duke is as bad as Stanford (Stanford report coming later in this report). Let's look at other ACC teams. Miami has REALLY struggled, even to the point of being involved in (but not starting) that infamous brawl against Florida International. Staying in Florida, Florida State had a living nightmare of a season. It was a nightmare in which they've fell pretty far and pretty bad. Maryland had a pretty good season. Just too bad Virginia Tech hasn't done impressively well like when the Vick brothers were under center. Now let's meet the two teams vying for conference honors. Answer me this... since when were YELLOW Jackets blue? The pride of Atlanta is in Jacksonville and ready to make some noise. The Yellow Jackets wanted to wear navy blue jerseys. Yellow Jackets covered in blue... sounds strange. But hey. GT could have been wearing hot pink or baby blue jerseys and would STILL be known as the YELLOW Jackets. Okay, now for a not-so-weird team. I normally thought Wake Forest was a highly-competitive team capable of great things. Turns out, they've been bad for a long while. They are almost like the Rutgers of the ACC. The Demon Deacons have had their best season in ages... literally. Trust me when I say that they've been so bad for so long. I believe this is their first-ever 9 or 10 win season in school history. This program goes all the way back to the 1890s(?). NEVER a season this good in a long while. They know what Top of the Mountain feels like, and they are enjoying it. But it will be even enjoyable if Wake Forest squishes Georgia Tech. And they did just that. The score is like a high-scoring baseball game. Georgia Tech has a pretty good baseball team, but they couldn't bat the Home Run ball over Wake Forest. (9-6; Wake Forest) *upset!*
/*big win nominee*

*+x Big XII Championship Game: Arrowhead Pond; Kansas City, MO x+*

"Love to Hate" Nebraska -Cornhuskers- vs. Oklahoma -Sooners- (RIVALRY GAME)
Nebraska and Oklahoma hate each other. They hate each other even more since the two of them are now playing for a BCS Bowl Berth with a win. Here is an analogy of hate here: this is like two male celebrities (who simply don't like each other) fighting each other for the love of a hot supermodel. The two celebs are Nebraska and Oklahoma. The lady on the line? A BCS Berth. I often confuse Kansas City, KS and Kansas City, MO. Only things I know about Kansas City, MO is that it's where you can find the Kansas City Chiefs in the NFL and the Missouri-Kansas City Kangaroos in the Mid-Continent conference. This city just remains a humble little place that hates the St. Louis Rams. Of course, there's that pathetic excuse for a baseball team, the Kansas City Royals (I have to be biased sometimes). But two teams aren't pathetic excuses. Let's meet them. The football Gods hexed Texas when Texas A&M shocked the Longhorns and took them out of Big XII Title game contention. They probably wished that there were ties in college football since they wish Oklahoma and Nebraska both lose. All Oklahoma had to do was beat Oklahoma State. Mission accomplished... welcome to Kansas City. We welcome Sooner fans of all kinds. They also welcomed Nebraska. The 1995 National Champions were ready to throw down against Oklahoma. Here's something I forgot to notice in typing this report- Texas A&M is what Oklahoma and Nebraska have in common. You see, Nebraska had to beat Texas A&M to clinch the Big XII North. Texas A&M beat Texas and hoped for Oklahoma to beat Oklahoma State. This Big XII love triangle resulted in the Cornhuskers playing against the Oklahoma Sooners. Who says you can't bring Jerry Springer to college football? (21-7; #8 Oklahoma)

-end "Championship Package"
)

Now on to other games and the new GAME OF THE WEEK:

--- I Love California Pack ---
"Hollywood Showdown" #2 USCal at UCLA (RIVARY GAME: for the Victory Bell) (GAME OF THE WEEK)
The pride of Los Angeles, California is on the line as two deeply hated rivals squared off yet again. The pride of Los Angeles is also on the line as the Lakers played at the Clippers would go at it later tonight. The game will be at UCLA's home field, the Rose Bowl. The Rose Bowl is so beautiful. The view is wonderful. Just north of you would be the the Angeles National Forest. Pasadena isn't too far from a great Division 3 football team- Occidental College. You're also not very far from California State University-Los Angeles (Division 2, non-football). The UCLA Bruins are better known in men's basketball with over 11 National Championships. They are looking to slam dunk their hated rivals from the University of Southern California. USCal can be found in vincinity of Exposition Park. The university is to the south southwest of the Staples Center. For a long while, the Trojans have been the 1-A power of Los Angeles in football. They have roughly 10 or so National Championships including the sensational runs when Matt Leinart and Reggie Bush were lighting up America. But now, it's John David Booty trying to give USCal a big win over UCLA. As laughable as his name is, he's for real. But are the rest of the Trojans for real? A USCal win means that it's Ohio State vs. USCal for the National Championship. A UCLA win means that some other team is going to take the place for National Championship glory. And in a low-scoring game, UCLA pulls out perhaps the biggest win of their lives. (13-9; CALIFORNIA-LOS ANGELES) *upset!*

"Band Not Included" Stanford at #21 California (RIVALRY GAME: For the Stanford Axe)
You know, Stanford University may need their band to beat California. Stanford has been lethargic this season. Lethargic... meaning completely bad with no positive sense of direction. That's where the Cardinal have been and are headed since the California Golden Bears beat them yet again. (26-17; )

*** LITTLE KNOWN: Stanford and California have their fight songs in EA's NCAA March Madness series. However, the NCAA Football series doesn't have their fight songs. Instead, generic music is played instead.

* Fresno State at San Jose State (24-14; SAN JOSE STATE)
* Colorado State at San Diego State (17-6; SAN DIEGO STATE)
- end "I Love California Pack"

* Army vs. Navy (RIVALRY GAME: Battle for the Commander-in-Chief Trophy - Lincoln Financial Field; Philadelphia, PA)
Show some patriotism! It's time for the Army-Navy Game. It's nothing exciting in terms of sports since Navy has had Army's number the past few years. But the United States Military Academy has something Navy doesn't- National Championships. Army has three to Navy's empty trophy space for National Championships. For a team with three National Championships, this is a very disappointing Black Knights team. The Midshipmen have been on point in recent times, especially against Army. The winning streak continues for Navy over Army. This game was much closer than the normal blowouts Army would get. (26-14; Navy)

* Connecticut at #6 Louisville
A Louisville win and a West Virginia loss means that Louisville wins the Big East. Will they? We find out right now in this basketball matchup. I've said that Connecticut was on the rise. They are already on top in basketball. Now they need to see their Husky footballers try to take down Louisville. Papa John's Cardinal Stadium has no problem with Louisville fans getting loud in taking down any and all opposition. Hell, Ohio State could come down to Louisville and the crowd still will boo them right out of Louisville like heartless savages. The 'Ville is going to hit somebody in the mouth with their imposing offense. They'll make a football game look like a basketball game. It's what you get with the Louisville Cardinals. The Brohm family will continue dominating under center Louisville as Michael looks to beat this basketball power. No sweat. Louisville kicked West Virginia's butts, but they now have to hope they take down Rutgers to get a BCS Bowl Berth. (48-17; #6 LOUISVILLE)

* Rutgers at West Virginia (winner gets BCS Bowl Berth)
In a thrilling Triple-Overtime thriller, the Rutgers Scarlet Knights lost down the wire against the West Virginia Mountaineers. (41-39, 3OT; #1? WEST VIRGINIA)

- OTHER SCORES -
* Troy at Florida International (winner meets Rice in the New Orleans Bowl) (26-13; Troy)
* Louisiana-Monroe at Louisiana-Lafayette (39-20; Louisiana-Monroe)
* Air Force at TCU (38-14; TEXAS CHRISTIAN)
* Louisiana Tech at New Mexico State (50-23; NEW MEXICO STATE)

-Oregon State and #24 Hawaii went at it late. I won't have the score from this game.

JOHN'S WINNERS AND LOSERS
BIGGEST WIN(S) OF THE WEEK
Wake Forest is for Real... Just Ask Georgia Tech
- Wake Forest has been terrible for many years. This season is simply the best season WF has ever had. EVER. Granted it's a 9-6 victory, you'll take a win no matter what the spread. Other notables:
* San Diego State Finally Wins!

MOST DISAPPOINTING LOSS(ES) OF THE WEEK
Louisiana-Lafayette Loses to Louisiana-Monroe
- Did you know that Louisiana-Monroe is no longer known as the Indians? They are known nowadays as the Warhawks. Too bad the Ragin' Cajuns of Louisiana-Lafayette couldn't beat them. I couldn't find a significant big loss to report, so I got this one.

UPSET(S) OF THE WEEK (if any)
UCLA Proves to be the New Kings of Los Angeles
- Throw away the record books in a rivalry game. But this was more than a rivalry game. This was UCLA beating #2 Southern California. Hello! BIG win.

OWNAGE OF THE WEEK
Louisville Smashes Connecticut
- This would be an upset in basketball, but an ownage in football. It's the only real one I can think of for this week. So...

Connecticut = OWNED (by Louisville 48-17)!

JOHN'S EXTRAS

--- THANKS TO ALL OF YOU FOR READING MY REPORTS AND OFFERING ME SUPPORT ---
I started doing these college football reports back in 2004 on GTPlanet. I now have more resources to work with as well as being able to get all of this across to you all. I try to make things fun. Hopefully I've succeeded for you. There have been a number of troubles including me having to go to the dentist, oversleeping, Internet trouble... but at least I have your scores one way or another. Thanks to everyone who dropped by to see my reports. This includes folks like FoolKiller, JFM92_GTRacer, JNasty4G63, Kylehnat, dougiemeats, *McLaren*, JTSnooks, YSSMAN, and countless others who came by to offer support. The regular season is done. What I'll do next week is have a Regular Season in review for next week. Feel free to talk about ANY aspect of the regular season. Share your best and worst of this season. Most importantly, I give my game ball to our illustrious leader of GTPlanet, Jordan. He made all of this happen. He made GTPlanet happen so that people like us can share whatever the heck we want as long as it's legal. I'll continue to offer more perspective from all divisions of college football.

--- IS THE PS2 PAST ITS PRIME? MY PS3 EXPERIENCE ---
When I was at a Wal-Mart in Pearland, TX, I noted that the PS3 stand had Madden NFL 2006 for the PS2 on it. It was a PS3 deal for sure since I held down the PS button to get things working. I instantly noted how you could go from disc to PS3 demos in short order. The usual demo material was still there as I played another game of Motorstorm. I had a great chance to win my first race in that game, but the rally car I chose didn't work out too well for me. But back to Madden. The game didn't look anywhere near the detail in PS3 games as I noted it on the HDTV unit. The PS3's graphics were a blow-you-away deal almost guaranteed. It all depended upon how the game developers design the graphics.

--- A VERY SPECIAL "BIGGEST WIN OF THE WEEK" SHOUT OUT ---
My Thursday Extra on my blood donating experience is worth some mad love. I think a special BIGGEST WIN OF THE WEEK would be the lives I hope I've saved by donating blood to the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center. Two pokes meant a chance for me to give blood. Word has it that if I were do be a multiple donor, I'd get something special in return. Maybe it will be a PS3 and an video iPod. ^_^ But, this special BIGGEST WIN goes out to UTMD for sponsoring this blood drive at my community college. I'd even give myself a pat on the back for donating and hopefully saving someone's life. A friend of mine needed a blood transfusion some time ago. She had it already, but she was kind enough to offer me support for doing such a deal. Don't forget to read my blog entry about my blood donating experience. Find the link in my Thursday report.

--- I MAY HAVE FOUND SOMETHING TO RIVAL THE AERO FIGHTERS SERIES ---
While it's just one game, I finally beaten "Varth: Operation Thunderstorm" as part of the Capcom Classics Collection Volume 2. This game has some HUGE boss battles including one last battle that had me like "oh hell no... HE'S NOT DEAD YET!?" It's a tough game, but it may be just as great as the Aero Fighters series. Aero Fighters is known as "Sonic Wings" in Japan.

Next week will be the long-awaited Heisman race to come to an end. Who will win it? Plus, let's take a look back at the regular season. I would like to try to cover all four divisions of NCAA football, if possible. Even if you don't follow the other divisions, I'll try to introduce them. Take care!

Now that USC somehow lost to UCLA (I hate UCLA), Florida is playing Ohio State. Does anyone think that Florida has even the slightest chance? Ohio State could probably beat several NFL teams (although a high school team could probably beat the Raiders as well). Michigan would have been a better matchup, but I don't think anyone wanted a simple rematch from two weeks ago.

Well, my cats didn't play this week, but we did take our bid to the Music City Bowl against Clemson.

Maybe some of you sports for life guys ( I mostly watch Kentucky and occasional big games) can tell; me what to expect out of Clemson.

Also, it is time to set rivalries aside and pull out a Gators shirt as we support the SEC in a championship game. I doubt Florida will win, but I am still cheering for them.

I'll likely come up with a "Regular Season in Review" thread. I'll also try to update the Bowl Game scenarios. Thanks again for your support, everyone.
