Welcome to the seventh week of college football. This week's action will carry kind of a theme of stars and space. There are still plenty of teams with several shining stars among a universe of talent.

Introduction
How many of you love nighttime? I tell people that I am very fascinated with stars and space. Nothing can be lovlier than looking up into the sky and enjoying the sight of stars twinkling beautifully in the sky. Well in college football, a number of teams will look to outshine every other star out there. A lot of teams have their star players. While one star can be beautiful to gaze upon, it pales in comparison to seeing a cluster of stars sparkle beautifully. One of my personal favorite starry displays would be the Stars of Plieades. Reason why I love this constellation is because the stars sparkle so beautifully and so brightly. It isn't just one star, it's several stars that sparkle beautifully and shine brightly. Every team wants to be full of stars that outshine all others from other teams. College football has a universe of talent whereas only the best galaxies and nebulae can be among the brightest stars and star systems in the college football universe.

Last Week...

Notre Dame FINALLY Wins
They beat UCLA like it was nothing- 20-6. Where was this offense all year long? The Fighting Irish can keep it going when they take on their next opponent... which I believe is Boston College.

South Carolina Ends Kentucky's Unbeaten Season
Kentucky was 5-0 before heading into Columbia, SC. Now the Wildcats are looking at a team that came from behind to win- LSU. Good news for Kentucky (if any) is that they'll host Louisiana State.

The Other Los Angeles School Loses to a Cupcake
The USCal Trojans felt plenty of chest pains by having to accept a loss to the Stanford Cardinal. This was their first home loss since 9/29/2001. The Palo Alto, CA (suburb of San Francisco)

Danny Woodhead Sets All-Division, All-Time Rushing Record
Division 2's Chadron State saw Danny Woodhead get about 7,400+ rushing yards as Chadron State took down Western New Mexico 21-0 on Saturday. Again, I try to cover all four divisions. I honor Woodhead's accomplishment.

AP FBS Top 25 (as of 5:08 PM CDT)
01 - Louisiana State!

02 - California!
03 - Ohio State!
04 - Boston College!
05 - South Florida!

06 - Oklahoma
07 - South Carolina
08 - West Virginia
09 - Oregon
10 - Southern California

11 - Missouri!
12 - Virginia Tech
13 - Florida
14 - Arizona State!
15 - Cincinatti!
16 - Hawaii!
17 - Kentucky
18 - Illinois
19 - Wisconsin
20 - Kansas!
21 - Florida State
22 - Auburn
23 - Texas
24 - Georgia
25 - Tennessee

! = currently unbeaten

I think this is an interesting as some of the better-known basketball powers are doing quite well. The highest-ranked basketball power in football is Kentucky at #17 followed by Illinois at #18. The biggest surprise this season has to do with Kansas being 5-0 and #20 in the nation. As I say, ANYONE can beat ANYONE. Just because a school is better known and better appreciated as a basketball school doesn't mean that their football team (granted a school has a football team) can't be as successful

Unfortunately, this isn't a Sunday where I can just talk about a bunch of stuff and await Thursday. We got some action today to start this week's games. So let's get to work!

--- Division 1: Bowl Subdivision Scores ---

New Mexico Looks to Avoid Being 0-8 All Time Against Boise State
* New Mexico State {Aggies} at Boise State {Broncos}
There are no NFL teams in New Mexico and Idaho. So let's just enjoy some college football between two WAC schools. The venue is Broncos Stadium in Boise, ID. Potato country is ready for some action as these two chip their way through each other. Here are the teams, starting with New Mexico State. New Mexico State is one of only two Division 1 schools in the Land of Enchantment. Not the brightest of stars, but the Aggies will be more than ready to outshine Boise State. Now let's meet the spud studs. Idaho is famous for potatoes. The best football team in the state of Idaho is Boise State. Boise State shone very brightly and sparkled beautifully last season with a perfect season. I still remember the Statue of Liberty play that upset Oklahoma. I was stunned when I saw that on FOX. Boise State's only loss this season was in Seattle when they played the University of Washington. Now the Broncos look to be that beautiful galaxy full of blue and orange stars. So let's see which team will shine brightest. New Mexico State is 0-7 all-time against Boise State. Remember the BFG9000 in Doom games? Remember how it could eviscerate just about every enemy in your way? That's what Boise State beating New Mexico State feels like. The other teams will neet to work hard to beat this margin of victory. Otherwise, Boise State will win my "OWNAGE OF THE WEEK" honors. (58-0; BOISE STATE) *** ownage ***

Here is a look at the NFL as we take a break from collegiate action.

--- NFL Focus

South Beach Meets America's Space City
* Miami Dolphins at Houston Texans
Kris Brown (FG, Texans) kicked 5 field goals and connected all of them... even the game-winner. Kris Brown becomes the third kicker in NFL history to kick three field goals of 50+ yards. It was an ugly game. Trent Green had been knocked out of the game with a concussion after Travis Johnson accidentally hit him. Regardless, the Texans will head to Jacksonville next week. The game-winning field goal kick was the longest in Texans' history- 57 yards by a money Kris Brown. (19-16; HOUSTON TEXANS)

Seattle Seahawks Swoop Down to Pittsburgh
* Seattle Seahawks at Pittsburgh Steelers
It took three Steelers' touchdowns to blow out and shut out the Seattle Seahawks. (21-0; PITTSBURGH STEELERS)

Jets and Giants Duke it Out in Rivalry
* New York Jets vs. New York Giants
The N.Y. Giants got it done by nine over the Jets. I call it a "vs." game because both teams play their home games in the same stadium. (35-24; New York Giants)

Can the Packers Remain Unbeaten?
* Chicago Bears at Green Bay Packers
No! The Chicago Bears beat one of their longtime rivals at Lambeau Field as the Packers lose by 7. (27-20; Chicago Bears)

The Boston Red Sox Aren't the Only Boston-Area Teams Making Noise...
* Cleveland Browns at New England Patriots
The Patriots doubled up the Cleveland Browns in Foxboro, MA. (34-17; NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS)

David Carr Will Be Under Center... Can He Win With His New Team?
* Carolina Panthers at New Orleans Saints
David Carr (formerly of the Houston Texans) was banged up earlier, but came back later. The Panthers pounced on the severely struggling Saints. (16-13; Carolina Panthers)

Jags Ready to Frag the Chiefs
* Jacksonville Jaguars at Kansas City Chiefs
Hail to the chief? Hail to the Jags because they chomped away at Kansas City to a 10-point win. (17-7; Jacksonville Jaguars)

That's the way to get this week started. Maybe since it's conference play, more action will be on through the week instead of the Thursday-Saturday swing. Here are some of the action before Saturday:

Wednesday:
* Navy at Pittsburgh

Thursday:
* Florida State at Wake Forest

Friday:
* Hawaii at San Jose State

Thanks for reading. Take care.

Kentucky ranked 17th? That is more in line with what I think it should be.

Unless we beat LSU and Florida I don't see Kentucky being a top ten team, this year.

So you think this is just about right? FoolKiller, I'm going to ask you about LSU and Florida. You all get LSU this Saturday to be shown on CBS. As a friend, I hope Kentucky plays their best football against LSU. My question to you is... which team do you think Kentucky is more likely to beat: LSU or Florida?

I'll just share a non-football extra. Just to pass some time.

EXTRA: Are Prices Going Up?
Some things seemed to have gone up in price. I remembered I had to get a haircut. It used to be $10, now it's $12 at my barber. I had bought a wrap from the Schlotzsky's store across from Houston Community College - Southeast Campus (where I go to school). A chicken Caesar salad wrap used to cost about $4.86. I paid about $5.08 today. Are prices going up? Probably are. I just hope things don't get to be too expensive to the point where some revolt happens or something.

From last week's thread, I changed one of the links. I had my Formula SAE focus and gave an incorrect link for Illinois. Instead of the link to Illinois' Formula SAE team, I gave the link to California Polytechnical-Pomona's program. I have since changed that and added a few extra schools. Once again, thanks to all of you who have contributed to my threads. Hope to share some more stuff later tonight.

Definitely Florida. Florida has a loss they shouldn't, which shows that they are not the perfect team and can and do have a bad day. LSU has yet to be beaten and are not showing a weakness. How do you beat LSU? I don't know.

We should go out and assemble the largest birthday we can because the United States Naval Academy's anniversary is today. You can do the math- it's 2007, and the U.S. Naval Academy was established on this day in 1845. It wasn't known as the USNA back then, but it is now. Maybe Navy will celebrate by trying to beat Pittsburgh on the road. The Panthers have had some terrible losses (especially a beatdown by Connecticut). So this could be a trap game for Pittsburgh. I'll let you know who won in my next report.

So let me take this time to say Happy Anniversary to the United States Military Academy. Thanks for reading this quick little report.

The name of this week's thread is on shining stars. People, I want to assure you that we have some stars trying to shine this week. Maybe it's the name of this week because the weather is truly beautiful here in Houston (for a change). I mean, clear skies, warm (not humid) temperatures... what's not to love? Beautiful stuff. Well, someone's going to take an ugly loss. We'll see who will win this one.

The United States Naval Academy May Celebrate Their 162nd Anniversary With a Win Over Pittsburgh
* Navy {Midshipmen} at Pittsburgh {Panthers}
Seems as if the stars will shine over Pittsburgh. So it's time to see who will succeed against the other. You got the Navy Academy going against Pittsburgh. One of Pittsburgh's stars isn't in the sky, but in the press box- ESPN's Mark May. The University of Pittsburgh has a very good football team. Unfortunately, they're singing the blues because this team can't seem to win. They are trying to end a losing streak. Hope is on the horizon since the Panthers know that having a losing season is lightyears away. Now let's meet some birthday boys. The United States Naval Academy are celebrating over 162 years of their established academy. It would be dumb for the Navy not to sport NAVY Blue. This team has been golden in their time. Believe it or not, they won the National Championship back in 1922(?). It is said that sailors of the past used stars in the sky for navigational purposes. Today's Midshipmen ARE the stars. All they need to do is find their way to keep on winning. Navy's head navigator is a Hawaiian fellow- Kaipo-Noa Kaheaku-Enhada. So let's see who'll win- the Annapolis' boys, or the Steel City Kitties. I'm wondering if Max Powers is keeping an eye on his Panthers... The score was deadlocked at 21 after thirty minutes. No kicker needed. We got us a firefight. Neither team wants to lose. Hard hits aplenty. Play hard or go home. The Panthers needed a field goal, so it's 13:39 left in the game as Navy led 35-31 over Pittsburgh. After the game? WE'RE GOING TO OVERTIME! Navy failed to cash in a field goal. So it's a 38-point deadlock. As Dick Vitale would say in the "NCAA March Madness" series, "regulation solves nothing. Bring on overtime!" Pittsburgh tried to throw to win the game in double overtime, but a poor throw meant Navy celebrates as The Brigade at Alumni Hall had something to celebrate as Midnight was forthcoming. What a game! Happy anniversary, USNA! You just sunk the Pittsburgh Panthers' battle ship! (48-45, 2OT; Navy)

SIDE NOTE
Navy improves to 4-2 while Pittsburgh falls to 2-4.

Pageant Place Debuts on MTV
MYV aired a new show featuring three beautiful ladies who won the three prestigious awards. The head honcho is Donald Trump. He'll provide swanky apartment rooms appointed by The Donald. The three beauties consist of Miss Universe 2007, Miss America 2007, and Miss Teen USA 2007. Miss Universe is Riyo Mori from Japan. Rachel Smith is Miss USA. And Miss Katie Blair not only represents Miss Teen USA, but also dislikes former Miss Teen USA, Tara Connor. Most of you know I love Japan. So I'll be real interested in seeing Riyo Mori on this show. Only question I'm not at liberty to answer is if Miss Teen South Carolina makes a surprise appearance. Other than this, it's another show for you to enjoy in place of the recently-ended "Newport Harbor: The Real Orange County."

We head back to conference play tomorrow night as the 21st-ranked Seminoles of Florida State will look to hand Wake Forest a beatdown at their house. See if Wake Forest can pull an upset in my next report. In addition, I have FCS and Division 2 to get to in my next report. So stop by and see who won.

Tonight is the beginning of a long week of college football. We have four games in Division 1. One in North Carolina for FBS, and three games for FCS. So why don't you take a look and see who beat who. You ready? Then let's go!

--- Division 1: Bowl Subdivision Scores ---

Starry Skies Can be Unfriendly if You're the Away Team in Winston-Salem...
* #21 Florida State {Seminoles} at Wake Forest {Demon Deacons}
More stars seem to be ready to shine. You ready to gaze upon the skies of Winston-Salem, North Carolina? There's something in the air alright, and that's college football. One of the best in the business goes up against someone who's had the best season in the long history of Wake Forest University. Let's meet the hardened veterans first. Florida State University is in Florida's capital of Tallahassee. This northwestern Florida city has seen a galaxy of talent through all the different national championship teams. And perhaps the 1999 Florida State crew is behind this year's team, but the Seminoles are ready to party like it's 1999 if they leave North Carolina with a win. Looking to deny them of being beaten are Wake Forest. They are the defenders of Winston-Salem, North Carolina's Wake Forest University. Like the rampaging bull of Taurus, like the centaur guardian in the stars known as Sagitarius, Wake Forest and their Demon Deacons will make sure nobody defeats Wake Forest in their playground. Wake Forest were seeing the moon and the stars while an uneasy thunderstorm cloud followed Florida State back home. (24-21; WAKE FOREST) *** upset and big win ***

INJURY REPORT: Kentucky's May Have One "Little" Problem This Saturday
Rafael Little is told to have a bruised thigh. He's listed as questionable against LSU. The tandem of Andre' Woodson and Rafael Little is a more than sufficient one for Kentucky to keep up their winning season. Kentucky will be tested this weekend and next (Florida's next after LSU). Oh, and did I mention that LSU's the #1 team in the nation? The game will be on CBS this Saturday afternoon.

--- Division 1: Championship Subdivision Scores ---
We got FCS action from Arkansas and Tennessee. We go to Arkansas first.

Sophomores Central Arkansas Seek Sweet Success over Texas State
* Texas State {Bobcats} at Central Arkansas {Bearcats}
You can find the University of Central Arkansas in Conway, AR. It seems to me like two kinds of cats are ready to fill the night air with college football greatness. Someone will pull a win, and I'll tell you who did it. It was a game televised on FSN Southwest. Let's meet the Texas boys. Texas State University can be found in San Marcos, TX. You may remember this school as Southwest Texas State University. Now you just drop the Southwest. It's a school that has come up with a popular graduate such as WWE veteran, "The Heartbreak Kid" Shawn Michaels. The Bobcats look to deliver some sweet chin music to their Arkansas counterparts. Central Arkansas were National Champions in their past before stepping up to Division 1. The boys bring their purple and gray(?) to Division 1 in hopes of making a name for themselves. They can do just that against a team that made the playoffs a few years ago. The Bearcats are hopeful of being successful in the always-competitive Southland Conference. So let's see who layed the smack down on the other. Seems like Texas State were the ones seeing stars... both in the sky and over their heads. Beatdown! (63-21; CENTRAL ARKANSAS)

Other FCS Scores...
* Jacksonville State {Gamecocks} at Austin Peay State {Governors} (42-9 Jacksonville State)
* Tennessee State {Tigers} at Tennessee Tech {Golden Eagles} (45-28; Tennessee State)

--- Division 2 Scores ---
Here's a Top Ten match for you.

* #7 Delta State at #6 Valdosta State (35-31; #7 Delta State) *** upset! ***

(no Division 3 games reported - action starts Saturday)

That would be all from me, thanks. More action to come Friday. So stay tuned!

Here is just a small note. Tonight's match will be in the WAC conference as a ranked Hawaii squad meets San Jose State. I still can't wait for the matchup between Hawaii and Boise State later this year. But, tonight's match will be in the WAC. I'll have results as soon as I type up a report and deliver it to GTPlanet. So be sure to drop by when it's ready.

Most kids will go inside when it gets dark outside. Some kids will stay out and play as hard as they did at recess or gym class when it gets dark. Let's talk about that second half as a week of star-themed action will take place. You dig my flow, players? Then let's do college football! The way you like it.

--- Division 1: Bowl Subdivision Scores ---

Hawaii Wants to Continue to Sparkle in Northern California
* #16 Hawaii {[Rainbow] Warriors} at San Jose State {Spartans}
Most people don't really give a crap about Southern California. Like everyone thinks of SoCal when they think of California. If you're among those who get so tired of the SoCal lifestyle (I'm not saying I have any specific preference), I'll give you a NoCal game. The theme is on stars and space this weekend. Unfortunately, no stars were in the skies tonight because the weather was cloudy with some rain. Very un-California-like, eh? Here are your intros to both teams, starting with Hawaii. The University of Hawaii is the only NCAA football school in the Aloha State. Counting non-football schools, there are about five schools from Hawaii participating in NCAA competition- the University of Hawaii, Hawaii-Hilo, Chaminade, Hawaii Pacific, and BYU-Hawaii. Only Hawaii is your gateway to college football in America's 50th State. They are known as the Rainbow Warriors for a lot of their sports, but simply the Warriors in football (understandable in a manly game like football). More importantly, they are unbeaten and having one of their best seasons of all time with Colt Brennan as their star under center. Trying to take Hawaii is San Jose State. San Jose State University is usually the third-sorriest team in California behind San Diego State and Stanford. They wear my favorite color combination- blue and gold. The Spartans don't sparkle very much, but you can sure bet SJSU will see the heavens smile down on them if they can rip an upset.. Overtime was needed to help settle this one. The Warriors can peacefully return to the Hawaiian Islands after this Overtime victory. (42-35, OT; #16 Hawaii)

SIDE NOTE
The game I wan't wait for involving Hawaii will be when they host Boise State on November 23rd.

EXTRA: No Love for the West Coast?
Boise State and Hawaii have been sensational stories as well as California and (especially) USoCal. Even in the past, more people have usually been focused on places not immediately on the east side of the Rocky Mountains. One reason is usually because most people don't really know about western teams because of the time tables. Think about this for a moment. Pretend it was 12:00 AM EDT in New York City. There is about a six-hour difference between Eastern Daylight Time and time in Hawaii. It would be 6:00 PM in Hawaii for an evening game at Aloha Stadium. Most fans from the east coast probably won't be able to watch all night long just to see Hawaii go to work. So this becomes an issue of "how can I be sure this west coast team is as good as people say it is?" Does it mean that most teams west or around the Rocky Mountains don't get as much respect simply because not a lot of people actually stay up long enough to see west coast teams in action? If that's so, maybe real sports fans can spot good NCAA talent no matter where the school calls home.

EXTRA: Michael Guillford (19, DE, Florida) Killed
The University of Florida is in mourning as Michael Guillford was killed in a motorcycle accident on Friday morning. A report made on CSTV was that he was riding at a high rate of speed as he ended up hitting a median. Guillford was not wearing a helmet (I was going to question if he may have had a helmet worn at the time. He was a redshirt freshman that was a walk-on for the Gators. His passenger was a lady named Ashley Slonina, who also died and was not wearing a helmet either. My advice- PLEASE wear a helmet. Please have protection while riding. I would like to extend my wishes to the respective families of Michael Guillford and Ashley Slonina.

Thanks for reading. I'm going to note #1 LSU at Kentucky as my GAME OF THE WEEK. I noted this as such because this is a real statement match for Kentucky. And this ain't your daddy's Kentucky team. A Wildcat win over LSU's breed of feline will really make a statement (more so than their Louisville win) in the nation's toughest and deepest conference. * Also, I'll introduce something new that I may not do often. I'll have a Feature State. That state? Hint: this is my "stars and space" week. Name me a state usually associated with stars? That's right- the LONE STAR state- Texas. Key match will be the annual rivalry game when 1-4 Rice meets 2-3 Houston as Houston could have upset Alabama last week. * I'll designate games as "OWNAGE" nominees if the margin of victory is over 40 points. I don't make such designations because I'm always looking for a huge winning margin. And until I find a large-enough one, then I'll make the distinction of who got pounded.

Thanks for reading. A great Saturday should be on tap for all of you to enjoy. I'll have as many results as I can provide. I won't cover every game, but I will cover just enough to say I've covered the entire country for one day out of the year. Hundreds of schools. Four divisions. One place to see the results - the Football forums of GTPlanet.net! See you Saturday!

Stars are beautiful to look at when it's nighttime. Some stars shine even in daylight. You don't see them, but they are there. They don't sparkle in broad daylight, but they are there. I'm here to show you that there are plenty of stars out there both in the sky and on the ground. FoolKiller wants Kentucky to win and everyone else to lose. I can't guarantee that kind of news, but I am guaranteed to show you winners and losers.

Saturday Synopsis: Week 7
The nation was stunned as one of Kentucky's teams pulled a massive upset. Upsets were also capable in the state of Iowa. Kansas and Connecticut look to remain unbeaten as Kansas is at home and Connecticut on the road. A number of games went into Overtime. A wide variety of games seen old stars go down while new ones emerge. A very good Top 5 team in Division 2 suffered a crushing loss as a Nebraska team handed them a loss that was tough to swallow. Number 1 and number 2 in the Division 3 standings won in convincing fashion. In fact, only two upsets occured in Division 3. All in all, it was a week of college football that truly captures the madness this sport can provide. That couldn't have been said any more appropriately considering the madness that took place today.

--- Division 1: Bowl Subdivision Scores ---
Let's begin (as always) with the Game of the Week. It's time to tread through the Bluegrass State, where one team will be singing the blues.

"Never Never Never Ever Give Up!" (GAME OF THE WEEK)
* #1 LSU {Tigers} at #19 Kentucky {Wildcats}
I think this is my first GAME OF THE WEEK out of Lexington, Kentucky. To all of you... welcome to Commonwealth Stadium where somewhere of about 64,300 to even 70,000 people will be watching to see if Kentucky's REALLY for real. In 2002, Kentucky punched in a field goal to lead LSU. A premature celebration by Kentuckyians there led LSU to beat Kentucky in the Bluegrass Miracle. I'm obviously sure that Kentucky didn't enjoy the aftermath of the 2002 meeting. Now, it's time once again to see which breed of cat rules the SEC. This one is going out to my friend, FoolKiller. I also dedicate this one to GTP Moderator, Kent. So we meet LSU first. Louisiana State University is in Baton Rouge. You will also find Southern University in this city. In keeping with the theme of stars and space, LSU has been stars in a variety of sports. Football. Basketball. Baseball. And countless other sports. Having a brave heart and a keen sense of determination is what makes a Tiger as one of the most feared animals on the planet. Kent will be watching to see if his felines can outdo FoolKiller's felines. Let's meet them. The University of Kentucky is traditionally a cupcake team. An easy win. But there's a newfound sense of victory and determination for Kentucky. These stars can only be seen in Lexington, Kentucky. The brightest stars from Lexington are on Kentucky's dynasty in men's basketball. Over seven national championships. A win for the Kentucky Wildcats will make them shine brightest in the nation. This could be a trap game for LSU. But we'll see if it turns out as such. Let's get it on. Verne Lundquist and Gary Danielson had the call for this CBS game.

Kentucky played good, but LSU was better out of one half. The game was 7-7 at one point as the half ended 17-14 in favor of LSU. Older Kentucky squads would have looked at a 28-3 halftime school. Now it's a much-improved Kentucky squad looking to show that Kentucky can truly win in sports other than men's basketball. LSU is 23-2 under Les Miles when leading at the half. He admits that Kentucky is playing hard and have plenty of tenacity. Would it continue? LSU would lead 27-14 later in the 3rd Quarter. After three quarters, LSU led 27-21 after a great defensive stand by Kentucky in the closing minute of the third quarter. So Kentucky needs to find some answers on offense and defense to stun the nation. They did just that as they tied the game with two clutch field goals. LSU tried to kick a 57-yard field goal. The end result... regulation solves nothing. WE'RE GOING TO OVERTIME!

The stars began to shine as shadows grown longer and the sky became darker. Kentucky was backed five yards on a False Start. Then, LSU roughed up Andre' Woodson to make it a 15-yard Personal Foul. Kentucky has a long jump star that got backed up in a no-gainer. Then Kentucky got themselves a touchdown. I figured it was going to be challenged, and it was. Kentucky gets six on the board plus the PAT. Now LSU MUST get a touchdown if they want to avoid singing the blues. Kentucky knew what they signed up for in taking on LSU. The fans at Commonwealth Stadium want to see an upset of LSU. They didn't get it... at least not for Overtime 1. Now it's Double OT. Remember that college overtime isn't Sudden Death like the NFL. And there are NO ties anymore. It's 34-34 after OT #1. Kentucky makes Flynn take a seat as they picked up a sack on the LSU quarterback. Next thing you could hear is "My Old Kentucky Home" as LSU called their timeout. They still got a field goal. Kentucky had their field goal as well. So it's 37-37. Now it gets critical because you MUST go for two points after cashing in a touchdown. It will be a test of what the teams will do when all the chips are on the line. Steve Jackson for Kentucky got himself a wonderful catch as Andre' Woodson got whacked after the play. Kentucky doesn't get the two-point conversion, so it's 43-37 in favor of the Wildcats. The city of Lexington is on edge as their Wildcats hope LSU goes down in flames. Kentucky proved they were for real as 70K people in Lexington celebrated the defeat of the #1 team in the nation. They are now 3-8 all time against #1 teams. It's party time,
FoolKiller! Kentucky wins in a triple-overtime thriller. The heavens smiled on Kentucky and the city of Lexington as [Kentucky] Wildcat Nation can't stop celebrating. (43-37, 3OT; KENTUCKY) *** #1 upset!!! ***

John's Personal Comments
For Kentucky: I knew this game would be a trap game. FoolKiller, you said that this is going to be a tough month for your alma mater. However, you DIDN'T tell me that Kentucky will go winless this month. Kentucky earned this win. This was a first-class upset by an incredibly improving Kentucky squad. They got themselves Bowl eligibility. All they had to do was take out another bunch of cats. Your screenname is FoolKiller, and it looks like Kentucky killed not just some average fools, but some top-ranked fools. Congratulations to the Wildcats on an amazing win. They didn't let the loss at South Carolina get to their heads. I think Andre' Woodson reassured his hopes of Heisman gold with this win. See? ANYONE can beat anyone. Kentucky can win in football as they can in men's basketball. It started at about 2PM CDT and took 5 hours to complete. But in the end, the Bayou Bengals got her done. BIG. The feeling of this win
For Louisiana State: I'm sorry you lost this game. You played a hell of a game against a reborn Wildcat unit. It wasn't like you played like crap and let Kentucky run all over you. You played hard and upheld the spirit of SEC football very well. Someone had to lose, but it was unfortunately you. You'll bounce back and be stronger than ever. What doesn't kill you makes you stronger. When's the last time you heard of a weak tiger? Tigers are brave felines that can back it up when backed into a corner. Now go beat some more jive turkeys, LSU!

DID YOU KNOW...
...that Andre' Woodson was NOT sacked all game long?

The Bay Area's Ready to Meet Some Rodents
* Oregon State {Beavers} at #2 California {Golden Bears}
California lost this game in disappointing fashion. Rather than being stars, they were star-crossed as they had an incredible chance to play for the win. Instead of calling a timeout, the QB decided to give the ball to the referree as the team couldn't get the kicking team out onto the field. In the end, California knocked themselves out of the Top 5 on a costly mental lapse. (-; ) *** upset and disappointing loss ***

SIDE NOTE
This is the first time #1 and #2 lose in the same day. Nebraska was #1 and Tennessee was #2. This happened back in September 21, 1996.

Louisville Seeks a Huge Win in Cincy
* Louisville {Cardinals} at #15 Cincinatti {Bearcats}
Lexington, KY were still on edge when Kentucky beat LSU. Now let's meet the other Kentucky city that starts with the letter "L." And that would be Louisville. Unfortunately, Louisville won't go to Papa John's Cardinal Stadium for this one. Cincinatti said, "hey Louisville! Try beating us at OUR house if you're so bad!" I'm sure Louisville were saying "yeah. We're game. Make ready." (-; )

Iowa Needs to Turn Their Season Around and Quickly
* #18 Illinois {Fighting Illini} at Iowa {Hawkeyes}
What has happened to Iowa lately? This used to be a team that has really been a surprise story in the Big Ten. My buddy JNasty4G63 was telling me about how Iowa rolls. I use "recently" loosely because even at times last year, Iowa hasn't been their fun and surprising selves. So let's see if Iowa can make something out of this experience. Illinois, like Kentucky, used to be a guaranteed win. Now the boys from Champaign, IL will try to leave Iowa with a win. The Fighting Illini has to turn up the heat and shine brighter than they've ever shone. I have a friend of mine from the state of Iowa here at my community college. I sometimes talk about Iowa football to her. There hasn't been too much to talk about Iowa football since they've been off the pace a lot. Iowa City, Iowa is where you'll find the the University of Iowa. They haven't been thr brightest galaxy in the skies, but the Hawkeyes are ready to call Illinois overrated. Calling them as such is one thing. Proving that is antoher. Let's see if Iowa could back it up and go for a win. The game was on ESPN2 and called by Pam Ward and Ray Bentley. The two teams traded field goals as Illinois pulled ahead. Iowa would get the breakthrough in the 3rd Quarter as the Hawkeyes made it 10-6. It could have been 13-10 in favor of Illinois had it not been for an ineligible receiver downfield. So we have a low-scoring game on a cloudy day in Iowa City, Iowa. Iowa has lost eight straight games until they finally won this one against a magical Illinois team. Skies will be starry and beautiful for the proud men and women who helped make Hawkeyes' football... Hawkeyes football. Big upset win. As for Illinois, they'll host Michigan next week. They could lose two straight the way Michigan's made a comeback. (10-6; IOWA) *** upset! ***

John's Feature State: Texas
I'd like to kindly welcome all of you to my home state of Texas (whether you like it or not!). Here are some games either involving Texas teams or Texas teams at home. So let's start this thing up.

Space City Pride is On the Line
* Rice {Owls} at Houston {Cougars} --- RIVALRY GAME: Battle for the Bayou Bucket ---
Houston and Rice. Two schools seperated by less than five miles. Either you love Houston... or you love Rice. The rivalry is intense, but nowhere near the magnitude of something like Michigan and Ohio State, Duke and North Carolina, or anything like that. I'm personally a Houston guy because my brother went to UH. However, I must remain objective and not be completely biased. So let's meet the two teams, starting with Rice. Rice University was a nobody school until their amazing season last season. Now last year, Rice lost to Houston in a 31-30 thriller at their stadium. Believe it or not, Houston used to play their home games at Rice's current stadium. It's been Owls territory for a long time. Their stars are best known in baseball as they are an established foe in college baseball.

Houston was asleep after one half. Rice led 31-28 in an offensive shootout. Houston shown real character in coming back to upstage their rivals from around the Texas Medical Center. The defending Conference USA Champions get it done in the battle of Houston's only FBS teams. (56-48; HOUSTON)

The Rice Village Experience
If you ever come out to Houston (or if you live in my home town), you HAVE to visit Rice Village. Rice Village is a collection of shops and stores with all kinds of stuff in this classy sector. My brother and I used to go here for some Christmas shopping as well as eating out at some of the restaurants. Really a great place to check out if you're in Houston or visiting.

A Loss in the Red River Shootout Leaves Longhorns with Red-Hot Blood
* Texas {Longhorns} at Iowa State {Cyclones}
Really, both Iowa and Iowa State have struggled mercifully. Hope is on the way for Iowa State because Texas came off of a loss to their bitter rivals, Oklahoma. Maybe Iowa State could frustrate Texas even more and pick up a big win. There was no chance of that as the Texas Longhorns hammered the crap out of Iowa State. The Cyclones felt like a breeze to Texas. You players don't know about Texas tornadoes! (56-3; Texas)

Kansas is Sick of Being Called Pathetic
* Baylor {Bears} at #?? Kansas {Jayhawks}
This could well be the season of the basketball schools. Kansas is the only basketball power that's unbeaten. Can you believe it? Kansas must think they are Texas all of a sudden because the Jayhawks smashed the pathetic Baylor Bears. (58-10; #20 KANSAS)

Aggie Nation in Peril as the Franchione Era Nears an Absolute End
* Texas A&M {Aggies} at Texas Tech {Red Raiders}
The Franchione era nears an absolute end. So does the Aggies' unbeaten status. (35-7; TEXAS TECH)

* Southern Methodist {Mustangs} at Southern Mississippi {Golden Eagles}
The boys from Dallas (SMU) got hammered on the road by Southern Mississippi and the Golden Eagles. The Mustangs broke down bad. Even a Ford Mustang could beat Southern Mississippi... or at least put up more of a fight. (28-7; SOUTHERN MISSISSIPPI)

* East Carolina {Pirates} at UTEP {Miners}
I dislike East Carolina's fight song. However, the Pirates given UTEP's Miners something to choke on with this close loss. (45-42, OT; East Carolina)

end "Feature State"

Wolverines Have Yet to Fall Since Their Win Over Notre Dame in Week 3
* Purdue {Boilermakers} at Michigan {Wolverines}
Time to show some love to Joey D and his beloved Michigan squad. They will take on Purdue this week, then head to Iowa to meet the Hawkeyes. And if the Hawkeyes' win over Illinois any indication, Michigan needs to show they are truly game enough. So let's meet these two teams. The city of West Lafayette, IN is home to Purdue University. The nucleus of this galaxy of stars is coach Joe Tiller. His Boilermakers are ready to freight train Michigan. Michigan would love nothing more than to derail the Boilermakers. Ann Arbor isn't a very good train junction if your train lines originate from West Lafayette. The Wolverines have their own little rail system to take down any Boilermaker threat. Hop aboard Wolverine Railways! Michigan's locomotives overmatched the Purdue boys in a not-even-close deal. (48-21; MICHIGAN)

Michigan State Made an Example out of Wisconsin, Now They Must do the Same to Indiana
* Indiana {Hoosiers} at Michigan State {Spartans}
The Spartans of Michigan State will (52-27; MICHIGAN STATE)

OFF-TOPIC
So I don't get it confused... Michigan will play at Illinois next week, Minnesota at home for the Little Brown Jug, THEN play at Michigan State on November 3rd. Sorry if I've given misleading schedules all year long.

The Apple Doesn't Fall Very Far From the Tree... Unless You're Nebraska
* Oklahoma State {Cowboys} at Nebraska {Cornhuskers} (45-14; Oklahoma State) *** disappointing loss ***

Unbeaten Connecticut Isn't Ranked, but They Could Make a Statement in Charlottesville
* Connecticut {Huskies} at Virginia {Cavaliers}
No. Emeka Okafor moved on. Geno Auriemma isn't coaching ths team. Somehow, someway, Connecticut is unbeaten. That's no disrespect for Connecticut. If I told someone that Connecticut is unbeaten, most people would overrate the Huskies. But I need not say overrated because Virginia's Cavaliers made sure Connecticut didn't leave Charlottesville, VA unbeaten. (17-16; VIRGINIA)

A Non-Conference Clash of the Carolinas
* #7 South Carolina at North Carolina
South Carolina picked up a huge win when they beat Kentucky. Can these Columbia stars keep a good thing going? That's the question TwinTurbos94 and studentdriver are hoping to have a positive answer for. Let me see if I can deliver. Time to see who's better- North or South Carolina? North first. North Carolina is a proven basketball power with one of the finest to play for UNC- Michael Jordan. Even if Michael Jordan was part of the Tar Heels' football team, North Carolina were still no match for South Carolina's star-studded team.
(21-15; #7 South Carolina)

Can the Hilltoppers Top the Pathetic Ball State Football Team?
* Western Kentucky {Hilltopppers} at Ball State {Cardinals}
Ever been to Muncie, IN? I haven't (never been outside of Texas my whole life). But I'll take you there through the Internet. The Hilltoppers of Western Kentucky University couldn't top the Cardinals of Ball State. (35-12; BALL STATE)

Shaken... and Stirred?
* #19 Wisconsin at Penn State
Michigan State knocked Wisconsin out so hard that they were seeing stars. Wisconsin lost badly. This is a team that's basically fallen apart. The Badgers suffer a horrible setback in their trip to Penn State. The Nittany Lions clawed through Wisconsin like they were a high school team. Meow. (38-7; PENN STATE) *** upset! and disappointing loss ***

Other FBS Scores:{/B]
* #4 Boston College at Notre Dame (27-14; #4 Boston College)
* UCF at South Florida --- RIVALRY GAME --- (64-12; #5 SOUTH FLORIDA) <<< is South Florida the George Mason of FBS?
* Georgia Tech at Miami (17-14; Georgia Tech)
* Minnesota at Northwestern (49-48, 2OT; NORTHWESTERN)
* Kent State at #3 Ohio State (48-3; #3 OHIO STATE) <<< may be new #1 with Louisiana State and California losing

* TCU at Stanford (38-36; Texas Christian)
* Fresno State at Idaho (37-24; Fresno State)

--- Division 1: Championship Subdivision ---
Time to step down to FCS. Well, some would say step up since the FBS doesn't have a playoff. These boys do playoff action. So let's see who will make some noise among these stars.

Some Spotted Kittens Want to Outsmart Some Intellects
* Lafayette {Leopards} at Harvard {Crimson}
(27-17; )

Alcorn State's Brave Enough to Tempt Some Tigers
* Alcorn State {Braves} at Texas Southern {Tigers}
The Braves won this one in a close fight as Texas Southern's Tigers continue falling to teams. (22-20; Alcorn State)

Two Southland Louisiana Schools Will Duke it Out
* Southeastern Louisiana {Lions} at Northwestern State {Demons}
Hammond at Natchitoches. Southeastern Louisiana at Northwestern State. A close match saw Northwestern State's Demons tame Southeastern Louisiana's Lions. (27-24; NORTHWESTERN STATE)

And now, let's go rapid fire.

RAPID FIRE

John's Winners and Losers
Time to see who won honors. They are all selected by me. You are free to dispute if you wish.

BIGGEST WIN OF THE WEEK
Iowa Picks Up a Massive Win Over #18 Illinois
- Dougiemeats isn't happy; JNasty4G63 is. Iowa needed a win to help boost some confidence into the Iowa City outfit. They got that win like a blessing from the sky.

MOST DISAPPOINTING LOSS(ES) OF THE WEEK
#2 California Beat Themselves with Poor Clock Management
- I could have chosen Penn State slaughtering Wisconsin, but this was beyond ugly. California had a timeout left. Why the hell they didn't use it is beyond me. It was poor management and... oh yeah. They were the #2 team in the nation. Their National Championship hopes may all be dashed at this point, especially if the voters have their way. They shot themselves in the foot and fell from grace. This now makes it about two times in two years when they lost to beatable opponents.

UPSET(S) OF THE WEEK (if any)
#19 Kentucky Prolongs Fight into Triple Overtime and Against #1 LSU and Win Big at Home
- I was going to credit Kentucky and Nebraska-Omaha, but beating a #1 team is always big. LSU was certain to be the baddest sons of guns in the nation, until they paid Kentucky a visit. This win reinvigorated Kentucky, and I'm sure Kentucky can't wait to hammer Florida. Even if Florida had Joakim Noah playing football rather than hoops, they still are chomping at the bit to meet Florida. Welcome to Kentucky's jungle, baby! You're gonna die!

OWNAGE(S) OF THE WEEK
(tie) Mount Union and Mary-Hardin Baylor Cash in Convincing Wins
- Was there any doubt these two wouldn't win? Combine the final score for both games, and you'd have 129-14. Wilmington failed to score while Louisiana College at least attempted to score. So here's a Division 3 salute:

Wilmington = OWNED by Mount Union 59-0...
...and...
...Louisiana College = OWNED by Mary-Hardin Baylor 69-14!

John Explores the Music of Breaking Benjamin
For a guy who grew up with hip-hop music and never considers himself a rock fanatic, there's something about Breaking Benjamin that I really like. It began with hearing "The Diary of Jane" from the NASCAR 07 soundtrack (a game I bought on Saturday at a Wal-Mart store) to buying "Phobia." Problem is, the CD itself freezes on my PC as it fails to load the bonus content. So I may have to end up burning the CD by recording my favorite songs from the "Phobia" CD to my hard drive. Breaking Benjamin's style of rock music can be real deep and gritty. However, it's not the usual intense screaming or grungy guitar notes famous among most rock bands. I have my exceptions with music genres I dislike, and Breaking Benjamin is one of them for me.

Met a Lovely Iranian Lady Named Sepideh
At the same Wal-Mart I was at, a pretty lady named Sepideh was behind the counter at the Electronics section of the Wal-Mart I was at. I never known a lady named Sepideh since 2003 when I got to know a lady as a classmate named Sepideh from Paris, France. Meeting this Iranian lady adds to my list of people from countries around the world. I have known people from around the world. May well add Iran to my list.

Good and Bad News Regarding my Forza 2 Experience
GOOD: There was finally a demo for Forza 2 for the XBOX360 on a kiosk. BAD: before I had a chance to play it after seeing the different cars available for the demo, my mother calls my cell phone so I could leave the Wal-Mart. I may report my Forza 2 experience in next week's thread if I get the chance to experience Forza 2.

Remember the "Strange Fellow" From One of my Previous Threads?
I mentioned that there was a strange fellow I came across at a bathroom at my Community College. Speaking as an artistic person, he was actually quite lovely. He had long, flowing blonde hair and a very nice face. I confused him for a girl when I came across him. Thing is, I haven't seen him lately. You sometimes come across people who you see for one day... then may not get to see any time in the future. I've come across plenty in my time.

Thanks to all of you for reading this report. Next week will be Week 8. Next week's thread will be entitled "Perseverance." See you then! Direct your comments to the new week's thread if you wish. Even then, I'll still update the most recent thread. Thank you for reading. Have a wonderful weekend! ^_^

Before I start I have one thing to say:

I BELIEVE IN BLUE!!!!!

Let's continue.
"Never Never Never Ever Give Up!" (GAME OF THE WEEK)

<snip>

I did not get to see this game, but I caught the after math on the radio on my way home from a previous engagement. The Wildcats stepped up in a way that only the truly determined can. I heard most of thw first half on the radio and I thought this game was over if we didn't make some huge adjustments.

Adjustments were made.

The question must be asked: did the football gods punish LSU fans for disrupting the singing of "My Old Kentucky Home" by chanting out cheers? In Kentucky that is only one step below disrupting the national anthem. That is our state song, or anthem if you wish, and none of the fans in Commonwealth were too happy. Even on the radio this morning people were complaining.

By the way, Kentucky fans rushed the field, again. Kentucky AD Mitch Barnhardt said he had no problems paying, the now, $50,000 fine for fans doing this three times since the Georgia game last year. This makes $90,000 in fines Kentucky has paid to allow their fans to celebrate as this team has improved.

Celebration side note: 12 people were arrested in Lexington, KY for celebrating too much. Considering the number of people and students, I figure this was a low number.

John's Personal Comments
For Kentucky: I knew this game would be a trap game. FoolKiller, you said that this is going to be a tough month for your alma mater. However, you DIDN'T tell me that Kentucky will go winless this month.

I knew Kentucky could win one of these games, but this is the last one I suspected.

DID YOU KNOW...
...that Andre' Woodson was NOT sacked all game long?
In post-game Coach Brooks was discussing where people stepped up and he was starting to mention the offensive line and said, "and then when we needed coverage we had---did we have an sacks? No? We had no sacks, so those boys really stepped up."

Even Coach Brooks was surprised by this, although he did go on to say there were a few late hits that shouldn't have gotten to Woodson either and his ability to not panic under pressure shows that he left the South Carolina game far behind him.

And in other news: Louisville fans are looking so far ahead towards basketball that they almost didn't notice the football team won.
