Welcome to the seventh week of college football. This week's action will carry kind of a theme of stars and space. There are still plenty of teams with several shining stars among a universe of talent.
Introduction
How many of you love nighttime? I tell people that I am very fascinated with stars and space. Nothing can be lovlier than looking up into the sky and enjoying the sight of stars twinkling beautifully in the sky. Well in college football, a number of teams will look to outshine every other star out there. A lot of teams have their star players. While one star can be beautiful to gaze upon, it pales in comparison to seeing a cluster of stars sparkle beautifully. One of my personal favorite starry displays would be the Stars of Plieades. Reason why I love this constellation is because the stars sparkle so beautifully and so brightly. It isn't just one star, it's several stars that sparkle beautifully and shine brightly. Every team wants to be full of stars that outshine all others from other teams. College football has a universe of talent whereas only the best galaxies and nebulae can be among the brightest stars and star systems in the college football universe.
Last Week...
Notre Dame FINALLY Wins
They beat UCLA like it was nothing- 20-6. Where was this offense all year long? The Fighting Irish can keep it going when they take on their next opponent... which I believe is Boston College.
South Carolina Ends Kentucky's Unbeaten Season
Kentucky was 5-0 before heading into Columbia, SC. Now the Wildcats are looking at a team that came from behind to win- LSU. Good news for Kentucky (if any) is that they'll host Louisiana State.
The Other Los Angeles School Loses to a Cupcake
The USCal Trojans felt plenty of chest pains by having to accept a loss to the Stanford Cardinal. This was their first home loss since 9/29/2001. The Palo Alto, CA (suburb of San Francisco)
Danny Woodhead Sets All-Division, All-Time Rushing Record
Division 2's Chadron State saw Danny Woodhead get about 7,400+ rushing yards as Chadron State took down Western New Mexico 21-0 on Saturday. Again, I try to cover all four divisions. I honor Woodhead's accomplishment.

I think this is an interesting as some of the better-known basketball powers are doing quite well. The highest-ranked basketball power in football is Kentucky at #17 followed by Illinois at #18. The biggest surprise this season has to do with Kansas being 5-0 and #20 in the nation. As I say, ANYONE can beat ANYONE. Just because a school is better known and better appreciated as a basketball school doesn't mean that their football team (granted a school has a football team) can't be as successful
Unfortunately, this isn't a Sunday where I can just talk about a bunch of stuff and await Thursday. We got some action today to start this week's games. So let's get to work!
--- Division 1: Bowl Subdivision Scores ---
New Mexico Looks to Avoid Being 0-8 All Time Against Boise State
* New Mexico State {Aggies} at Boise State {Broncos}
There are no NFL teams in New Mexico and Idaho. So let's just enjoy some college football between two WAC schools. The venue is Broncos Stadium in Boise, ID. Potato country is ready for some action as these two chip their way through each other. Here are the teams, starting with New Mexico State. New Mexico State is one of only two Division 1 schools in the Land of Enchantment. Not the brightest of stars, but the Aggies will be more than ready to outshine Boise State. Now let's meet the spud studs. Idaho is famous for potatoes. The best football team in the state of Idaho is Boise State. Boise State shone very brightly and sparkled beautifully last season with a perfect season. I still remember the Statue of Liberty play that upset Oklahoma. I was stunned when I saw that on FOX. Boise State's only loss this season was in Seattle when they played the University of Washington. Now the Broncos look to be that beautiful galaxy full of blue and orange stars. So let's see which team will shine brightest. New Mexico State is 0-7 all-time against Boise State. Remember the BFG9000 in Doom games? Remember how it could eviscerate just about every enemy in your way? That's what Boise State beating New Mexico State feels like. The other teams will neet to work hard to beat this margin of victory. Otherwise, Boise State will win my "OWNAGE OF THE WEEK" honors. (58-0; BOISE STATE) *** ownage ***

(no FCS games reported - FCS action begins Thursday this week)
(no Division 2 games reported - D2 action begins Thursday this week)
(no Division 3 games reported -D3 action only on Saturday this week)
Here is a look at the NFL as we take a break from collegiate action.
--- NFL Focus
South Beach Meets America's Space City
* Miami Dolphins at Houston Texans
Kris Brown (FG, Texans) kicked 5 field goals and connected all of them... even the game-winner. Kris Brown becomes the third kicker in NFL history to kick three field goals of 50+ yards. It was an ugly game. Trent Green had been knocked out of the game with a concussion after Travis Johnson accidentally hit him. Regardless, the Texans will head to Jacksonville next week. The game-winning field goal kick was the longest in Texans' history- 57 yards by a money Kris Brown. (19-16; HOUSTON TEXANS)
Seattle Seahawks Swoop Down to Pittsburgh
* Seattle Seahawks at Pittsburgh Steelers
It took three Steelers' touchdowns to blow out and shut out the Seattle Seahawks. (21-0; PITTSBURGH STEELERS)
Jets and Giants Duke it Out in Rivalry
* New York Jets vs. New York Giants
The N.Y. Giants got it done by nine over the Jets. I call it a "vs." game because both teams play their home games in the same stadium. (35-24; New York Giants)
Can the Packers Remain Unbeaten?
* Chicago Bears at Green Bay Packers
No! The Chicago Bears beat one of their longtime rivals at Lambeau Field as the Packers lose by 7. (27-20; Chicago Bears)
The Boston Red Sox Aren't the Only Boston-Area Teams Making Noise...
* Cleveland Browns at New England Patriots
The Patriots doubled up the Cleveland Browns in Foxboro, MA. (34-17; NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS)
David Carr Will Be Under Center... Can He Win With His New Team?
* Carolina Panthers at New Orleans Saints
David Carr (formerly of the Houston Texans) was banged up earlier, but came back later. The Panthers pounced on the severely struggling Saints. (16-13; Carolina Panthers)
Jags Ready to Frag the Chiefs
* Jacksonville Jaguars at Kansas City Chiefs
Hail to the chief? Hail to the Jags because they chomped away at Kansas City to a 10-point win. (17-7; Jacksonville Jaguars)
That's the way to get this week started. Maybe since it's conference play, more action will be on through the week instead of the Thursday-Saturday swing. Here are some of the action before Saturday:
Wednesday:
* Navy at Pittsburgh
Thursday:
* Florida State at Wake Forest
Friday:
* Hawaii at San Jose State
Thanks for reading. Take care.
