Allow me to present a picture to you. It's the evening. Evening goes into twilight. As stars fill the sky on a clear night, the moon comes along as well as all the lovely stars that dot the night sky. Depending upon where you live, you may be able to do some stargazing. Something you'll need to know is that college football is its own universe. There are galaxies and nebulae out there consisting of many lovely stars to gaze upon. In every division of NCAA football, there is that one star that outshines others. Every team wants to be Sirius ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sirius ), and many teams hope to have their own Pleiades ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pleiades_(star_cluster) ).

I hail from the Lone Star State. One thing I love is astronomy, especially stargazing. Every college football team wants to be the best team in known space. Last week was one of my common themes with motorsport. This week, it's my astronomy theme for the weekend.

(no FBS scores - starts Tuesday)

(No FCS scores - starts Thursday)

(no Division 2 scores - starts Thursday)

(no Division 3 scores - starts Friday)

This week of action will kick off with lots of action from the many stars of college football. Look up in the night sky... stars are ready to shine this week! Next week, the first real BCS standings will be determined. We will then really determine who the real stars of FBS are. I'll even get a better idea as to who's tops in FCS in my reports starting with my Thursday report. There is a Top 25 matchup on Thursday in FCS.

Chat away. The new week is here!

Here is a fun little extra I have for you all. And this is for all of you old-school gamers out there. Because I have a tough time hotlinking YouTube videos on here, just click on the links to go to the video in question.

EXTRA: Old-School Football Games
This extra is all about old-school football games.

We begin with college football. Check this out:

Bill Walsh College Football
* (SNES version)
* (Sega CD version)

NCAA Football

Now let's look at a few PRO football games. Because after all, these pixelated stars want to play on Sundays and Monday night!

* NES Play Action Football

ABC Monday Night Football
* (SNES Version)

Of course, you can't talk pro football games without mentioning...
*

Here are some old classic football games that don't feature actual college or pro teams.

* 10-Yard Fight (NES)

* Super High Impact Football

But perhaps the best classic football video game of all time:

* Tecmo Bowl

And there is your old-school tour of college football! Hope you liked it.

That was a little old school for your viewing pleasure. There will be an FBS game for Tuesday and Wednesday. FCS and Division 2 join in on Thursday. And this Friday, we'll see how Division 3 does football this week. Feel free to chat about last week's action, this week's games (including Texas vs. Oklahoma), and more.

I downloaded Google Earth last night and played around with it a bit. It's pretty cool. You could use it to make rather realistic and true-to-life 3D renders of buildings. Since I have a somewhat slow computer, I made the mistake of trying out the 3D render deal... in Manhattan! Pretty cool program if you have broadband and a good enough computer.

Tuesday FBS Preview
Tonight's game matches up Troy playing at Florida Atlantic. FAU is 0-1 in the Sun Belt after their loss last week at Middle Tennessee State. Can the Owls take down a game Troy Trojans? Troy's 1-0 in the Sun Belt. This game will take place at Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton, Florida.

Thursday FBS Preview
Now let's look at the Thursday matches. I'm sure the ESPN match for Thursday will be Clemson at #21 Wake Forest since not many people care about Conference USA. The Demon Deacons will try to get a win any way they can. The Clemson Tigers could be the Ohio State of the ACC. Lots of promise, but goes down often. Can Clemson turn things around in Winston-Salem, North Carolina? * The other matchup involves Houston and UAB. The Houston Cougars are 1-0 in conference after a big win against a talented East Carolina team. While UAB is usually a talented team, they are 0-2 in Conference USA.

Friday FBS Preview
Border states collide as Louisville heads down to Tennessee to take on the University of Memphis. Louisville is a former Conference USA school. They were a hard-hitting team in their time in Conference USA. Now, this Big East is ready to throw down to Memphis Friday Night. However, the Tigers would love nothing more but to make the Cardinals return to Kentucky with a loss.

Tonight's match is Troy at Florida Atlantic. Come back here for scores and any other stuff I may include.

Ricky Jean-Francois of LSU made some hint about putting a hit on Tim Tebow, even if a clean hit. Some fans have noted that LSU is a place that lacks character and compassion. We'll have to wait and see how this all shapes out. I'll be sure to take a look as to how this affects the LSU/Florida match.

I've had some fun fooling around with the Google Earth program. More about what I've done in my Student Lounge.

Division 1: FBS Scores
Only one game. Check it out.

Boca Raton, Florida - Owls the Size of Eagles Welcome Trojans to Boca Raton
* Troy {Trojans} at Florida Atlantic {Owls}
This is my week of astronomy. Florida Atlantic were the brightest stars in the Sun Belt last season. Maybe since this is the Sun Belt we're talking about, people kind of fail to realize that Florida Atlantic is a good football school. The Owls are ready to perform as the sun goes down and stars above spectate on a nice Sun Belt football matchup. Troy University is a school in Troy, Alabama and home to the Troy Trojans. They are a tricky team. They aren't like a football version of Gonzaga in the West Coast Conference in which they are the best team in a weak conference as well as being better than most other teams. Let the stars shine in the sky and at night! Troy was glittering 17-10 over FAU after 30 minutes of game time. Troy shone their way to a road victory as Florida Atlantic was star-crossed against the Trojans. (30-17; Troy)

For those of you who have a fast connection and a fairly decent computer, Google Earth is more like a more advanced version of Google Maps. I was marking up certain locations including my house, my community college, a few cool spots in Houston, and various world locales. I even wanted to know where Lake Orion was in Michigan. Think I was even able to spot Lake Orion High School on a map. All of this is Joey D country. I may use Google Earth to get a better idea as to how universities and colleges look from space views and even do better with my feature school segments. I'm even working on a little project with the MUGEN game engine (a popular, customizable fighting game despite being very old). The eight characters and one boss are all featured around the world. Google Earth even has some star views, but I have yet to utilize any space views of the star systems.

I have decided on my GAME OF THE WEEK. My GAME OF THE WEEK this week is Texas vs. Oklahoma. It's the Michigan/Ohio State of the Mid-South. I think this will be the final Texas/Oklahoma game this year at the Cotton Bowl as the new Dallas Cowboys' stadium will play host to the Texas/Oklahoma game in future years. So my first game of the Saturday scores will be #5 Texas vs. #1 Oklahoma. Two of the hardest-hitting Big XII schools collide in this huge rivalry game.

No action Wednesday. I may decide on a feature school or just something to pass the time. Take care, everyone!

Clemson heads to Wake Forest tonight in the big Thursday night ESPN game. Also UAB will meet Houston. I'll have FCS and Division 2 action to come.

Here in Houston, I hear the International Space Station will be in the night sky around 7:53 PM CDT tonight. Not sure where exactly, but it will go across the sky on what should be a mostly clear Thursday night. It is rather warm here today as I stepped outside 15 minutes ago.

Enjoy your Thursday of football! I'll preview OU/Texas as well as any other games. Speaking of other games, I'm concerened about Michigan. I know I picked them to go to a Bowl Game yet again, but I fear that long streak of making postseason Bowl Games could come to an end if Michigan doesn't keep things going in a positive direction.

The International Space Station was visible for about... oh, four minutes. I didn't get to see it, and I'm sure my mom wouldn't want me outside after dark.

Division 1: FBS Scores

Winston-Salem, North Carolina - Demon Deacons are in the Night Sky for Clemson
* Clemson {Tigers} at #21 Wake Forest {Demon Deacons}
Wake Forest led 3-0 early, followed by a Clemson touchdown. With C.J. Spiller out of the game with a leg injury, the Tigers were also injured on the scoreboard as Wake Forest outshined Clemson. The Demon Deacons made Clemson 3-3 overall and 1-2 in conference. (12-7; #21 WAKE FOREST)

Houston, Texas - Lone Star State Ready to Shine in First Home Game in 40 Days
* UAB {Blazers} at Houston {Cougars}
The Houston Cougars are 1-0 in conference and 2-3 overall. A beautifully clear night in Houston resulted in the stars watching down on one of the Lone Star State's potent teams. Meanwhile, the 1-5 UAB Blazers have been star-crossed all season long and have yet to beat an FBS team. Maybe beating Houston will help their cause. After Houston picked off UAB sometime in the third quarter for a touchdown, a big sprinkler was turned on! It was pointed right in the direction of the UAB bench! The Cougar fans in the stands around the big sprinkler got themselves an early shower. Don't know if it was intentional or not, but it was a very funny moment and one of the reasons why college football is so fun! Houston came along with 21 unanswered points to take the lead and never look back. In fact, UAB was blanked for the entire second half as the Lone Star State's skies weren't very friendly for the Blazers. (45-20; HOUSTON)

Division 1: FCS Scores
Stars shone in FCS amid from the madness in FBS. Let's see how the FCS boys did.

* Eastern Illinois at Tennessee-Martin (29-26; TENNESSEE-MARTIN)
* Webber at Jacksonville (51-7; JACKSONVILLE)
* Winston-Salem at Florida A&M (23-0; FLORIDA A&M)

Division 2 Scores
Just one game for Division 2. Which team was glittering?

* #2 North Alabama at North Greenville (52-7; #2 North Alabama)

(no Division 3 scores - starts tomorrow)

The Friday games are as follows:

* Dickinson at Johns Hopkins (Friday)
* Gallaudet at SUNY-Maritime (Friday)

I still wonder why Clemson always seem to be bridesmaids and never the bride. They've never been the bride since 1981 when they won it all. Shame. The Friday match will involve Louisville going down to Graceland to meet the Memphis Tigers. I was never really an Elvis guy. Wonder if he did any song related to stars and/or space. I'll preview some of the Saturday matches on Friday if I get a chance. For now, thank you for reading. See you next time!

I'm looking at a few matches for Saturday:

#5 Texas vs. #1 Oklahoma
I don't really know how these two are going to stack up. I know Texas is talented, but how much so against their rivals from Norman, OK? Oklahoma has a pretty good offensive unit, but how will that stack up against Texas' defense? And what about Oklahoma's special teams play? Whomever I pick will mostly be a coin flip.

South Carolina at Kentucky
This is Studentdriver vs. FoolKiller. Last year, the Gamecocks beat Kentucky in Columbia, SC. This year's game is at Commonwealth Stadium with 74K+ fans wearing Kentucky blue. After a hard loss on the road at Alabama, the Wildcats will return home to host the South Carolina Gamecocks. Kentucky could win this game if you ask me. Question is, how quickly can they get over their loss at Alabama? Kentucky could win this one, but I expect South Carolina to put up quite a fight.

Toledo at Michigan
The Big House plays host to Michigan taking on Toledo. Toledo was a very good team in the MAC conference. Unfortunately, the 1-4 (1-1 in the MAC) Rockets of Toledo have had system failure all season long. Michigan is currently 2-3 overall and 1-1 in the Big Ten (5th place). I expect Michigan to improve to 3-3. However, Michigan is going to travel down a VERY tough road. They will be AT #6 Penn State for their next game and back home against #23 Michigan State. Michigan shocked Wisconsin in come-from-behind fashion, but it's going to be tough to go 5-3 if Michigan beats Toledo and beat their next two opponents.

Iowa at Indiana
The Hawkeyes of Iowa and Hoosiers of Indiana are both 0-2 in confernce. Iowa is 3-3 on the season overall, but Indiana is 2-3. I would probably favor Indiana since I'm not really sure Iowa has improved just enough. Unfortunately, this is still a game that will give one of these team their first Big Ten victory of the season.

I'll have Louisville at Memphis results as well as any other results from tonight's games.

I'll have to wade in here and post my thoughts. I'm a college football fan first and foremost relative to my other sporting interests (yes, even over racing). I'm a Crimson Tide fan. I grew up watching games with my father and eventually attended UA in Tuscaloosa. So, I'm a little biased. Here are my thoughts on some of the games this weekend.

Texas vs. Oklahoma: Go Longhorns! Natually, I'm picking Texas for the upset. But, I think the Sooners will pull this one out in spite of Colt's incredible arm and cool nerves. The Sooners are too well manned at almost every position for Texas. I hope I'm wrong.

Kentucky will handle South Carolina. The Gamecocks have too many holes as evidenced by their record this year. Their 4 wins were against weak teams. Although, Georgia struggled to beat them. After watching Kentucky's defense stifle my team on the 1 yard line last Saturday, I don't think South Carolina can stand up to them. And, Kentucky does have a decent offense in spite of being held to only 35 rushing yards against Alabama. Kentucky's QB is 6'6" tall and can throw fairly accurately. His receivers didn't help him last weekend at all. But, I think Kentucky prevails tomorrow.

Vanderbilt vs Miss State. Lots of folks in Birmingham think the real Vanderbilt team will show up for tomorrow's game. If that's the case, Vandy's winning streak will come to an end.

Tennessee vs. Georgia. Georgia, no question.

Arkansas vs. Auburn. How will Auburn perform now that Tony Franklin isn't calling the plays? Will Arkansas be able to move the ball against one of the nation's top defenses? Good questions. Auburn will not be able to cover the 18 point spread. But, Auburn wins this home game without too much trouble. If they don't, look for part two of Jetgate shortly thereafter.

LSU @ Florida. I think LSU is over-rated. I also think Les Miles is just crazy enough to win this game in the swamp. He has the most luck I've ever seen in 4th down game-deciding situations. Or, is LSU just that good? Florida had better get the spread working on all 8 cylinders tomorrow to get past an un-tested LSU squad. This one is too close to call. My heart is with Florida though.

October, the second best month of the year next to November. That is, if you're a college football fan.

Or for non-college football fans, November's a great indication that college basketball is forthcoming. But that's another story for another time.

Thanks for chiming in, Tagger. I like people who actually come in and chat about their favorite team. Always willing to meet new people. Now you're a fan of the Crimson Tide. Do you think Alabama stands a chance of winning if not the SEC championship, then at least be the best in their division of the SEC?

It's Friday Night Lights both with the lights and with the stars in the sky. Maybe the moon will be visible and glow in the college football night sky. It's time to see who all bolted ahead in this match.

Division 1: FBS Scores

Memphis, Tennessee - Louisville Meets a Former Conference USA Foe
* Louisville {Cardinals} at Memphis {Tigers}
Looks like Louisville were invited to a Conference USA homecoming hosted by Memphis. Louisville had two road games in two different sports. The men's soccer team took on the University of South Florida while the football most of us know involves the 'Ville at Memphis. From what I hear, Louisville has a pretty good men's soccer team. The Cardinals were a very rough C-USA team to take on. Even my Houston Cougars know the feeling. Memphis is ready to throw down Tiger-style. How about we kick this game off proper? Then let's get it! Louisville led 28-14 at the half, scoring all 28 points in the second quarter. Memphis would tie things up at 28-28, but Louisville probably left Conference USA for good reason- not enough good competition. (35-28; Louisville)

(no FCS scores - resumes tomorrow)

Division 2 Scores

* Saint Anselm at Merrimack (48-42; Saint Anselm)
* Bentley at Southern Connecticut State (47-17; SOUTHERN CONNECTICUT STATE)

For a profile school, I'd like to look at a school that is pretty good in Division 2. Meet the University of Indianapolis.

John's Profile School: The University of Indianapolis
homepage: http://www.uindy.edu

You normally think of the Indianapolis Colts as far as football in America's Speed City. What you probably wouldn't think of is (with the exception of Butler University) football in Indy. Meet the University of Indianapolis. They are a private university affiliated with the United Methodist Church. So this is another of the private religious universities in major cities. Other examples include the University of Detroit-Mercy College, University of San Francisco, Fairfield University, and others. It is shortened as UIndy. The sports teams are known as the Greyhounds and wear crimson and gray with pride. Only four notable alums are proud Greyhounds- George Crowe (Major League Baseball player), William Raspberry (Washington Post columist and Pulitzer Prize winner, and the duo of Irwin Sparkes and Alphonso Sharland of The Hoosiers (London rock mand). Their most successful sport has been men's Swimming and Diving with over 7 national championships.[/I]

The Indianapolis Greyhounds will host the Ferris State Bulldogs. The Wikipedia entry I used on the University of Indianapolis can be found here: < http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/University_of_Indianapolis >.

Divsion 3 Scores
Stars will shine in Division 3. Who shone brightest in the two games? Let's find out together.

* Dickinson at Johns Hopkins (36-34; JOHNS HOPKINS) <<< the lacrosse power, JHU, now 4-2 overall with this win
* Gallaudet at SUNY-Maritime (27-0; STATE UNIVERSITY OF NEW YORK - MARITIME)

A really good match in D3 will involve #4 Capital heading into Ohio to meet #1 Mount Union. This is going to be a huge game pitting two Top 5 teams in Division 3. So this isn't the only Top 5 matchup this Saturday.

That is all for Friday. I hope you have a great time checking out the games and action this Saturday. Go out and see a game! If you can't be at a game, then just feel free to stay home and see how your favorite teams do either on TV or online. Get ready for all of this Saturday's games in all four divisions of NCAA Football. While my theme this week is on stars and space, my GAME OF THE WEEK has only one star in the sky- the Sun. That Texas sun will beam down on the Cotton Bowl as Texas and Oklahoma go at it one more time at the Cotton Bowl before that new billion-dollar stadium opens next year or so.

Thank you all for reading my report for Friday. I may make a few quick comments on any action from Saturday games completed or in progress. My official reports are different from my quick comments. Enjoy this weekend's games!

To be honest, I think the Tide is too one-dimensional offensively this season. We can run the ball. We'll line up and tell you where we're going to put it and then do it. But, we really don't have a passing game. Kentucky mapped the blueprint, in my opinion, on how to slow down the Alabama offense.....stack the box and play man coverage in the secondary. JP Wilson isn't a great QB. He's only ok. He's the best we have because he's in there taking the snaps. Unfortunately, we don't have another QB ready to take the reigns. Alabama has a very good shot of taking the SEC West. I'll have a better feel for our chances after watching LSU/Florida tonight. But, I think we have a very good shot at it. If we go to Atlanta in December, I think we'll win it regardless of the opponent. I think we've already beaten the best the East has to offer. Florida is not the high powered team they were supposed to be this year. The East will send either Georgia or Florida. I don't think Vandy can hold out to make it.

It's halftime in the Texas vs. Oklahoma game. Wow, the Sooners are insanely fast as a team. Their offense is so high tempo. It will take a real defense to stop them. I'd like to see how Alabama's defense would handle them. I'm afraid our secondary isn't up to the task though. I don't think Texas is going to hold out. In spite of some Sooner weaknesses, I still think Oklahoma wins. We'll see......

Edit: Texas 45 Oklahoma 35........roughly 5 minutes left to go in the game. Maybe I was wrong this one? I hope so.

Michigan lost to Toledo and Kentucky lost to South Carolina. The only fan-favorite to win today was Studentdriver's Gamecocks. Alabama has a bye week from what I understand.

Michigan's road to getting to a winning season is going to get hellishly tough. They're on the road at Penn State in their next game, then host Michigan State at the Big House. Right now, I'm seeing how #6 Penn State at Wisconsin is going. The Nittany Lions just scored and added the PAT. At 1:21 left in the first half, Penn State leads 24-7 at Wisconsin. Looks like Wisconsin is failing to soften up Penn State for Michigan as of now. See if they get it done when my full report is complete.

Wisconsin is getting pummeled by Penn State, now 41-7 with 9:32 left in the game. Absolute desecration. I forgot to mention that High-Test's Kansas Jayhawks beat Colorado pretty good.

The week of stars and space ends today and tonight. Some of the earliest navigators used the stars to navigate when at sea. I'll try and navigate our way at sea by following the stars. These are stars among galaxies of talent. Every team wishes upon a star that they will be blessed with safety and protection in their journey to keep their winning ways. So let's see who today's stars were and who were star-crossed today.

Division 1: FBS
Let's begin with the GAME OF THE WEEK in my home state of Texas.

Dallas, Texas - Red River Rivalry Ready to Rock in Big D
* #5 Texas {Longhorns} vs. #1 Oklahoma {Sooners} *** GAME OF THE WEEK ***
The Texas State Fair. The Cotton Bowl. Can mean only one thing- Texas and Oklahoma ready to collide. They've collided since about 1900. Texas and Oklahoma flat out don't like each other. I don't think the two schools would agree to have Thanksgiving or Christmas together. Of course, what both sides want to give the other teams is a beatdown. The Texas heat plays host to a warm, mostly sunny day in Dallas. Oklahoma needs to travel about 190 miles to the Cotton Bowl while Texas needs about 197 miles to reach the Cotton Bowl. The Sooners are going to show why they are number one. And who better to do it against than Texas? I say that Texas/Oklahoma is the Michigan/Ohio State of the Mid-South. Texas are ready to hook 'em Longhorn style. It's nighttime in Dallas because the stars are shining on the field. Let's get it on. [/B]The Longhorns knocked Oklahoma out of orbit, winning by 10.[/B] (45-35; #5 Texas)

Wow! I want to get to Missouri's match, but I wanted to catch up on Michigan, Kentucky, and South Carolina.

Ann Arbor, Michigan - Michigan Wants to go to .500 by Beating Toledo
* Toledo {Rockets} at Michigan {Wolverines}
We have lift-off in Ann Arbor. Something about me is that I'm fascinated by space craft. I love astronomy. It's my favorite natural science. The Toledo Rockets bring their blue and gold (their lovely blue and gold) into the land of the blue and maize. This year's Michigan Wolverines isn't any of the classic Michigan teams like when Gerald Ford was playing football at Michigan in one of their unbeaten seasons. They may need some of their classic teams to carry them the rest of the way. I may need to stop giving Michigan wins because the Rockets soared higher into the sky as Michigan felt more like Apollo 13. Sorry for the sad news, Joey D. (13-10; Toledo)

SIDE NOTES: Michigan was 24-0 all time against MAC teams until this game against Toledo. They have three losses at home in five games. Talk about a downward spiral. Both teams are now 2-4. If Michigan finishes with a losing record, it will be their first losing season since 1967.

Lexington, Kentucky - Wildcats Hate to Start a Losing Streak
* South Carolina {Gamecocks} at Kentucky {Wildcats}
So Michigan lost. Will a fan favorite (at least on GTP win)? Either way, one of two of my loyal readers will be smiling while the other will have to take a loss. The Kentucky Wildcats came off of a game that they could have won last Saturday at Alabama. South Carolina took care of Mississippi on the road. Now, the Gamecocks play road warrriors again to try to tame the 'Cats. Mission accomplished. Kentucky's reeling now as they go to 4-2. (24-17; South Carolina)

Los Angeles, California - Sun Devils Seek to Outshine Some Trojans
* Arizona State {Sun Devils} at USCal {Trojans}
The Sun is the brightest star in the sky. So are the Sun Devils the brightest stars in college football? USCal probably doesn't think so. (28-0; SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA)

Athens, Georgia -
* Tennessee {Volunteers} at #10 Georgia {Bulldogs}
U-G-A. Rocky Top. We are about 62 miles east-northeast of Atlanta. This is the University of Georgia. They are #10 in the nation. And so far this season, the Bulldogs have taken bigger bites out of other teams than the blue tick hounds at Tennessee. The Volunteers continually flounder this season. I don't know what's wrong with them. Honestly don't know what's wrong. (26-14; #10 GEORGIA)

EXTRA: Further Into a Black Hole? - Tennessee or Michigan?
Tennessee and Michigan are usually two teams that consistently make the postseason. At this point, it looks like neither team will make it. But who's in deep into a black hole- Tennessee or Michigan? The sad thing about Tennessee is that they seem like they have no positive future. I'm talking about a team that's usually very feared and much more competitive than this year's team. Same goes for Michigan. However, Michigan does have a promising future if they can get it together. But right now, they're looking pretty bad. A trip to Penn State and hosting Michigan State isn't going to make matters better. Tennessee looks to be in tougher times than Michigan. Phillip Fulmer better get things together, or they'll run him out of town.

Chapel Hill, North Carolina - UNC Has Some Shooting Stars... and NOT Talking Basketball!
* Notre Dame {Fighting Irish} at #22 North Carolina
Let's go see Chapel Hill. No Tyler Hansbrough. No Ivory Latta. No Michael Jordan. News flash- North Carolina football doesn't suck anymore! North Carolina is usually good in various other sports... except football. Until now. The University of North Carolina is about 112 miles northwest of Charlotte. They are 100 miles east northeast of the Charlotte Motor Speedway. Perhaps it's fitting NASCAR's in Charlotte because the Tar Heels are ready to go full throttle against Notre Dame. While this isn't the motorsports week, North Carolina will trade their blue with the blue of Notre Dame. The Fighting Irish followed the stars to the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill. Notre Dame connected on 4th down late, but the ball ended up being a catch and fumble by the Fighting Irish as North Carolina improves to 5-1. NORTH CAROLINA- 5-1! Who would have thunk it? (29-24; #22 NORTH CAROLINA)

OFF-TOPIC - Does anyone else get offended when North Carolina is referred to as "Carolina" when there's a South Carolina around?

Lubbock, Texas - Lone Star State Meets some 'Huskers
* Nebraska {Cornhuskers} at #7 Texas Tech {Red Raiders}
Let's return to the Lone Star State. Despite blocking a point-after in Overtime, Texas Tech holds strong in Overtime as the Red Raiders shattered the Cornhuskers' hearts. (37-31, OT; #7 TEXAS TECH)

College Station, Texas - Texas A&M Hopes the 12th Man Advantage Makes Kansas State See Stars
* Kansas State {Wildcats} at Texas A&M {Aggies}
Texas A&M is formidable in many sports. You aren't playing against just the team on the field, but also the rowdy Aggie faithful in the stands. Kyle Field isn't friendly if you're the Away team. That's what Kansas State has on their plate as the Wildcats seek a win about 83 miles northwest of downtown Houston. Texas won, Texas Tech won, but Texas A&M didn't win. (44-30; Kansas State)

Madison, Wisconsin - Light Up the Night Sky! Cats and Rodents Clash
* #6 Pennsylvania State {Nittany Lions} at Wisconsin {Badgers}
The Wisconsin Badgers saw some stars in the sky they didn't like- (48-7; #6 Pennsylvania State)

Columbia, Missouri - Tigers
* #17 Oklahoma State {Cowboys} at #3 Missouri {Tigers}
Get after me! I'm a man! I'm 40! Oklahoma State was better longer than Missouri. The Tigers didn't have enough to mount a comeback. The Cowboys are looking great after this one. (28-23; #17 Oklahoma State)

Gainesville, Florida - LSU Looks to Make Tim Tebow Look Up at the Stars By Way of a Hit
* #4 LSU {Tigers} at #11 Florida {Gators}
An LSU Tigers wants to talk about putting a hit on Gators' QB Tim Tebow. Got people riled up. Well, the only thing that got hit was LSU. And BAD. Shouldn't have talked that smack. (51-21; #12 FLORIDA)

Bowling Green, Kentucky - Not the Cardinals of Old... Hilltoppers Try to Top Ball State
* #25 Ball State {Cardinals} at Western Kentucky {Hilltoppers}
The Hilltoppers are still trying to find their way in FBS. Meanwhile, Western Kentucky was blown out into space as Ball State's Cardinals were the brightest stars in Bowling Green on this Saturday. (24-7; #25 Ball State)

Champaign, Illinois - Golden Gophers Encounter a Galaxy of Blue and Orange
* Minnesota {Golden Gophers} at Illinois {Fighting Illini}
Let's make like Super Mario Galaxy and fly our way into the galaxy of blue and gold stars in Champaign, Illinois. This would be the galaxy of dougiemeats on GTPlanet. The Golden Gophers are much improved from last season as they handled the Fighting Illini by a touchdown. (27-20; Minnesota)

Bloomington, Indiana - Hawkeyes Take Flight into the Space of Indiana
* Iowa {Hawkeyes} at Indiana {Hoosiers}
The Iowa Hawkeyes mercilessly handled Indiana's Hoosiers. (45-9; Iowa)

Lawrence, Kansas - Jayhawks Try to Tame Some Buffaloes in Kansas' Atmosphere
This is the High-Test special! The Jayhawks will meet Colorado's Buffaloes in this Big XII North match. The Jayhawks flew like an eagle into the future to move to 5-1 overall and 2-0 in conference. (30-14; #16 KANSAS)

Columbus, Ohio - Ohio State Finds a Boilermaker Constellation in Their Skies
* Purdue {Boilermakers} at #12 Ohio State {Buckeyes}
Football, anyone? The captial of Ohio hosts this match as some locomotives from Indiana come into THE Ohio State University. THE Buckeyes are ready to blast lightyears ahead of Purdue. The Boilermakers are chugging along trying to overrate Ohio State. The spread was 13 points as Ohio State won a low-scoring match. (16-3; #12 OHIO STATE)

John's Winners and Losers
Time to see who made the list time time around.

BIGGEST WIN(S) OF THE WEEK: #17 Oklahoma State Takes Down #3 Missouri in a Close Fight
This was a huge win for Oklahoma State showing they are damn sure for real.

MOST DISAPPOINTING LOSS(ES) OF THE WEEK: - #4 An LSU Player Wanted to Put a Hit on Tebow, but #11 Florida Hits LSU Hard
I failed this game because when you talk smack against another team and don't back it up, you're going to look dumb. Florida beat LSU like LSU were Tennessee.

UPSET(S) OF THE WEEK - #5 Texas Goes Postal Against #1 Oklahoma
The race for #1 in FBS is going to get a lot more interesting. Almost any #1 upset is going to win no matter who it's against and who does it.

OWNAGE(S) OF THE WEEK - Eureka! You Got PWN3D 62-0 by Huntingdon!
Eureka ran out of tricks to get on the scoreboard. And when the other team runs all over you, you get OWNED. So...

Eureka = OWNED 62-0 by Huntingdon!

This is a little something I've wanted to do for this season. This to add a little more spice to my reports. The week is over, so allow me to provide a little music. To cap off a week of stars and space, I decided I'd go starry-eyed over you all. So here's a music video I've selected for this week:

"Starry-Eyed Surprise" by Paul Oakenfold

Next week's thread will come around eventually. Thanks again for reading my reports!

It's a good thing I'm not a gambler or I would've lost money on my pics this week. The Texas vs. Oklahoma game was the most exciting game I watched this weekend.

I had to hit the road with my parents. So I was unable to see the game. I did see when Texas went for two after getting a touchdown. It was a funny moment because the ball popped into the air as all the receiver had to do was catch. And bingo! Two-point conversion good! I was saying, "good doggie!" Heh... Well, the new week's thread is here. It's called "Heart-to-Heart."
