How fitting... I'm watching ESPNU's archived coverage of the game between USC at Arizona State. I remember this game because ESPN College Gameday (I believe) was in Arizona State. The key here is that Keith Jackson, a legendary college football announcer, recently announced his retirement. You may even recall that he brought the vocal talent of the classic Rose Bowl match between Southern California and Texas. Well, he stepped down recently and will leave behind great memories. I think he did most of the West Coast games. With his retirement, my two favorite announcers in college sports are Brad Nessler and the wonderful Brent Musburger.

If you want to offer your respect to the retiring Keith Jackson and what he brought to college football media, then offer your respects to him.

I know this was very late news, but you are still free to comment.

Keith Jackson is the man. He seemed to be a bit senile in the booth this year, but his dry, unwavering sense of humor and endless supply of phrases from the 1930's made him truly entertaining throughout his career.

And a quote from my dad: "Keith Jackson is still around??!! Man, he was old when I was your age!"

Keith Jackson is a timeless treasure to the broadcasting booth.

Yeah. He couldn't have called down this year's Rose Bowl game any better. He is a superb announcer. When there is an announcer who can't be replaced or surpassed by another, you know how special that announcer is when that person retires. I don't know. He may do some more Gatorade commercials like he did with the commercials on Super Bowl 4, Chris Leigh, and even Matt Kenseth.

He's a solid talent. I'll still think where Keith Jackson goes, there's still two other quality talents- Brad Nessler and Brent Musburger.
