Early November will be the start of conference championships across a lot of the conferences as we're closing in on setting up the playoff field.

Albeit [very] late, your college soccer thread is here. Certainly early for postseason action, though.

A lot of conference tournament action is taking place. The women's Big East semifinal was at Notre Dame. Connecticut and West Virginia finished 1-1 after double overtime, but they won 4-2 on Penalty Kicks. They will meet the winner of the second semifinal game between Marquette and host school, Notre Dame.

Right now, there's a matchup going on involving the Maryland Terrapins and St. John's Red Storm in a men's national semifinal for the 2008 NCAA College Cup. I never realized Maryland had such a great men's soccer team. I already know St. John's is one of the powerhouses of NCAA Men's Soccer. Maybe not a powerhouse like Saint Louis or Indiana, but St. John's is a pretty good soccer school. The Men's Final Four for the NCAA College Cup is in my home state in the city of Frisco, Texas.

Over the weekend, the University of Maryland won the Men's National Championship in Division 1 with a 1-0 win over North Carolina. This is their second National Championship in four years. Only powers in NCAA soccer I know are Saint Louis, Indiana, UCLA, and St. John's. Congratulations to the Terrapins. Fear the turtle! ^_^
