I do know that over using the pace up command can be risky. Eventually your driver will drive over the top, will make mistakes, and will develop a hot temper. As for the others, I can't tell you. I think every once in a while it's good to give a command to keep your driver going at the pace you want.

As BubbleBelly said, hitting pace up continuously will cause your Bob to make lots of mistakes. The best way would be to hit maintain pace (green arrow) once Bob is pegged to the right. He might still make some mistakes but will be a lot more consistent.

For maximum consistency and speed, I'd recommend using maintain pace when Bob is at 3/4 level.

The way I understand it, you need to give your driver a command once in a while to keep him focused.

Think of him as a real person, and you're the guy with the mic on the stands. You can assume that your driver will do a better job if you talk to him now and then, keep him updated and tell him what to do. Imagine that you are the driver. You would feel better, because you know that there's an extra pair of eyes and ears virtually racing with you, wouldn't you?

If you were to tell him to keep the pace and then turn dead silent for 15 minutes however, it might make your driver uncomfortable and lose focus, which is pretty much what happens in B-Spec.

I keep my drivers right where their temperament says it should be. If the driver is even keel I keep the arrow in the middle, if the driver is a cool headed driver I pace down a lot and pace up if the driver is hot headed.

Has anyone looked at whether fuel consumption is eased when bob is driving full easy? Currently racing Indy, and Bob has a big lead and I'm feeding him steady pace at full cool.
