Sorry for the triple post/bump, but does anyone know cars based on Skylines, called Skyline or share an engine with a Skyline that are eligable in these races? These are all races left that in theory can't be done with Skylines (as far as I know - if you have a solution please comment)

National B
FF Challenge

National A

Electric Circuits
Festival Italia

International B

According to both GT6 and Wikipedia, the Tommykaira ZZ-II is powered by a mid-mounted RB26DETT.

"The ZZ II was a $90,000 sportcar 2 door coupe production car with a mid mounted tuned RB26DETT (Nissan Skyline GT-R motor) rated at 550 PS (542 hp) with 6pot front and 4pot rear brakes. It also featured front and rear aero diffusers, and a fully built roll cage."

Should help in your challenge significantly.

For the Classic Muscle Car Series you could use a Skyline Blue Pontiac Tempest Le Mans GTO '64
And for Schwarzwald League the Volkswagen Golf IV R32 '03
NASCAR cup a Toyota CAMRY

And for other events , cars with GTR or GT-R in their name.
There are 3 BMW's , 2 McLaren's , Toyota CELICA GT-R's

And Tommykaira's with Nissan engines aand Isuzu Bellett 1600 GT-R '69
One more , HPA Motorsports Stage 2 R32

I've heard a lot of good things about the ZZII, and it's cheaper than a R35 GT-R too. Might as well try it.

Nice ones. They're a bit far fetched so I'll use those in the end, but I do appriciate the effort.
Why the Toyota Camry though?

I remember that you originally had a rule that went something like this: If a Skyline/GT-R cannot be used you'd use a Nissan , if Nissan couldn't be used then you'd use a japanese car and if that wasn't possible then any car would do.

Thus a japanese car for NASCAR .

True, but I wanted to keep it as close as possible to the Skylines, which now seems to be going pretty good. I think I will use the Camry though. Especially if there will be a base model, because I can use the same thing as I'm going to do for the kart races: #51 for 5ky 1ine. Pretty much as far from an actual Skyline as possible, but better than nothing.

Here's a sneak peek of the ending of National B, coming tomorrow:

I've got this thread bookmarked, will check back for the next update on this tense battle! I love the pic of the hard-tuned 1500 :)

Incidentally this thread inspired me to try a related Skyline challenge of my own; starting with a new PS3 account and hence a fresh sheet, to unlock the whole game using only Skylines. Of course you don't need to do all the races to unlock the next level, only about 1/3 of them at each level.

However, I ran into a problem right away - you can't start the game with a Skyline! Although you get 30k to begin with, you are forced to buy a Fit for 17k, which you can only sell for 5k. This would leave you 18k (30 - 17 + 5), but the cheapest Skyline is 23k something. So I had to run the first race twice in a Fit to get enough money to sell up and buy a Skyline. Although, if anyone's looking for a good challenge in the Novice hall, a stock S54 GT-B makes for some good racing.

NATIONAL B FINALE: THE BANANA PRINCE
2ro2fpw.jpg

A typical day in Gran Turismo: a 300,000 credit Skyline racing a purple Ferrari Dino.
Lets start at the beginning though...

WON Classic Sports Car Series Circuito de Madrid Mini
This little car does drive as hilarious as it looks like. Definitely not the best race car, but it's pretty fun and can beat the opponents in this series. It was a little faster than the Alpine so I had a nice little battle with that car. If the bananayellow Skyline was a little faster and better at cornering it could be a proper race car.

WON Classic Sports Car Series Circuito Di Roma
There was an actual Prince Skyline racing car too, sadly it isn't in the game. Though... sadly? Now I can make my own Banana Prince! Bet that actual race car never drove in Rome though... not that it was that fun in this car, it isn't as good on road circuits as on actual racing tracks. Trust me!

WON Classic Sports Car Series Silverstone GP
This race was immensly fun. The Ferrari Dino really was my rival here. On the straights he was faster, but through the corner he was slower, because he sucked. A fully tuned yellow Skyline against a purple Ferrari, never saw something that funny in a racing game before! Wait a second... we're back at the beginning!

2iabxmq.jpg

All 300.000 credits spent on the Banana Prince were worth it. Standard or not, I love this little car. Seriously guys, try this car. A little expensive, but worth it.

WON GT Compact Car Championship Autumn Ring Mini Reverse
Since it needed to be fully tuned to win the Classic Sports Car races and it's the only Skyline under 4200 mm, I used it for both championships. Thing is, it's way to fast for the Compact Car Championship. Didn't take away I had a blast driving on these tracks, because they're perfect for the little Prince of Bananas. Much better than the city tracks from the previous races, though that probably is because it has a hard racing suspension. Didn't want to spend too much money

WON GT Compact Car Championship Cape Ring Inside
Bow down to your prince, puny cars! Note: there was a Click Type R here, so I wasn't the only one using a racing car! It finished last, almost 30 seconds behind.

WON GT Compact Car Championship Suzuka Circuit East
3... 2... 1... There goes the Skyline into the first corner, but he spins out into the gravel!
...yes, I crashed it. I overestimated the Banana a bit. Tried it again, and the race went perfect. I'm winner!

WON GT Compact Car Championship
So this was the National B class. The beginning is done now, and the real racing is beginning. Expect a nice new car for National A... I really like it's paintjob. Here's a hint: it's a Skyline... :dopey: Did I tell you too much?

That's great, thank you for the picture.
Don't mean to be picky but the R35 gtr isn't the successor to the skyline. When the R35 came out they were still making skylines in Japan. Two completely different cars. The R35 isn't based on the skyline like the previous gtr's were. Nissan only calls it a R35 for history's sake.

Still Godzilla. Pitty they never made an FR GTR that a bit cheaper, their GT500 racer is FR. The fact that they dropped the Skyline name as they switched it to the G Series which is odd as it uses the Z chassis', they couldn't drop switch it back as the G35 came out the year after the R34 using the Skyline name, would be strange to switch it back. But the R# and GTR lives on, and there's a reason its in Nissans Skyline room!

The only thing a R35 and a skyline have in common is that they are both Nissans. My previous point is correct.

"The 11th-generation Skyline (V35) was another major turning point for the nameplate, as it dropped some of the recent generation Skyline's trademark characteristics such as the straight-6 engine (replaced with a V6) and turbocharging, and eventually separated theGT-R into its own line. Nissan decided to retain the Skyline for the luxury-sport market, while its platform-mate, the 350Z, revived theZ line of pure sports cars.[2] The V35 was the first Skyline made for export to North America, being sold under Nissan's luxury marque Infiniti as the G35. The Skyline (V36/J50) is sold in Europe, North America, South Korea, Taiwan, and the Middle East as the Infiniti G37."

Tidbit info on the R390 engine: it is a pure racing engine, lifted from the R92CP (and R89C) and turbocharged. No affiliation with any other Nissan roadcars.

On my parallel challenge, I just managed to scrape a win in one of the three Historic Racing Car Cup races, at Silverstone, with my fully tuned + nitrous Hakosuka. I had to quit and re-enter about 10 times until I got a grid without the Toyota 7 or Chaparral 2J, even then it took a lot of doing. No shortcuts or SRF needed though (!) So it might *just* be possible to win this race series with a Skyline.
