The Next Gran Turismo, Compressed Air Car Challenge:
COMPRESSED AIR CAR TRANSMISSIONS
Examples of Some Compressed Air Cars and there range:
Range: Max = 0.684 kms - 5th Grader Air Car, 2008
Range: 40 - 50 kms - EngineAir Go Kart, 2004
Range: 100 - 160 kms - Honda Air Car, 2008
Range: 150 - 200 kms - Tata/MDI Airpod, 2012
COMPRESSED AIR CAR TRANSMISSIONS
- Most Production compressed air cars have an 1 Speed Automatic Transmission
- Although Development into a multi-Speed transmission is under way
- PSI Gauge instead of fuel tank Gauge Required
- Compressed air cars require Compressed Air to run so pit stops maybe required due to the short ranges available with this technology
- Speed Limitations
- Low Torque Figures means Hills or Gradients might be a challange
- The weight of a compressed air car can Hugely affect it's range
- Fuel tank or Air tank size can also contribute to the range a vehicle may have.
- Faster the car goes more compressed air required
- New Innovation for Gran Turismo
- Simular to a rotary engine in throttle response
