Hi,

I don't know much about computers so just thought I'd get that out there before proceeding.

I have Windows 7 64bit, 8gb RAM, 2TB hard drive.. It plays games quite well, lately has been going a bit hot but I recently bought a game and installed it okay, plays great for about 10 - 15 mins then the game freezes, monitor goes into standby mode, computer starts making beeping sounds like one long beep followed by 2 shorter beeps, it continues to do this and I need to press the power on/off button to turn it off, and back on again.

Gave the case a good cleaning with compressed air in a spray tin, got alot of the dust out but the CPU fan was clogged with it and was quite difficult to get all of the dust out.

Normally (surfing the net, music etc..) it runs quiet.. but only gets stroppy with big games, this particular game is the only one the computer has ever done this crazy act with.

The game in question is Euro Truck Simulator 2 (don't laugh, its actually quite good!).

Hope you guys can help me out,

Thanks in advance.

Normally if you go to the manufacturers website you can find what the beeps mean as they often act as a code telling you which part of the PC is malfunctioning.

Did you buy this PC? If so, what brand/model is it?

If you built it yourself, what brand is the motherboard?

The beeping code varies from manufacturer to manufacturer.

Are you absolutely sure all of the fans are working? And even if you check them with the cover off, is it possible a cable is pushing against/blocking a fan when you put the cover back on? I've heard of a few fairly savvy people being caught out that way on a couple of forums. Also check the CPU and GPU heatsinks aren't loose.

*Update* Sorry for the double post.

Bought 2 new tins of compressed air (dust cleaner) and gave it a real good clean, runs alot quiter but STILL shuts down like it was doing before, only now.. it does it randomly not just while I'm in that game. :(

Please help, this message always comes up after I turn it on again.. decided to read through the details of it.. doesn't look good.

BlueScreen scares me a bit.

If it's all dusted out and now randomly shuts down then it could be a bad power supply. You should know that bluescreens are just a report of a hardware failure or software failure. You would need a 350W PSU seeing that it's just a base system. They should go for $30-$40. Good brands to look for is Antec, Corsair, Seasonic, and FSP. Of course if the PSU ends up not being the problem then make sure the store you buy it from has a refund policy(Better to not lose money!).

The fan on the graphics card was clogged with dust therefore not working. I didn't know the graphics card had a fan on it, but I got it repaired.

Nah, its three years old the warranty ran out a while ago

But thanks for the help guys you helped me narrow it down. Card itself is fine, was just the dust clogging it that was causing the temp to go up.
